Countries that still air DragonBall/Z/GT

Post by TheRed259 » Tue Sep 08, 2015 3:28 am

How many countries are still airing any of these 3 series? (not Kai)

I know that DragonBall Z still airs in Latin America and that the original DragonBall was recently broadcasted in Germany and DragonBall GT in Indonesia. But what about the other countries? Does France for example still air their old DragonBall Z dub or not?

Portugal has been consistenly re-running all 3 series and Movies trough all sub-chanels of Sic ever since the series originally aired. Right now it's airing Dragon Ball on Sic Radical and Dragon Ball Z on Sic Kapa, BIGGS (not affiliated with Sic) also got recently the rights to some of the movies and so far have aired the 3 Dragon Ball movies as well as DBZ movie 1.

^ Portugal.

What country still airs Dragon Ball? Portugal.
What country had people skipping school/college to watch Dragon Ball? Portugal.
What country is not getting the new movies on theaters? Portugal.

The answer is always Portugal.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

The first 104 episodes of Dragon Ball Z aired in Denmark until 2013, so that's "recently" in my book.
Also, the French channel Mangas still airs their dub of DBZ.

There should be a witty quote or something down here. I'm just not imaginative enough to come up with anything.

No way  I'm sure it was different dubs (which also means, by the way, that it'd be almost impossible to watch the 5 airings in the same TV).
Nowadays, the original DBZ, or maybe Kai, may be airing in some co-oficial regional language, but IIRC, there's no TV channel still airing it nationally (in Spanish). The last channel to air it cancelled it around a year ago.

In Australia the Saiyan Saga was being shown on Free to Air Television during the morning as recently as 2010 (although the original censored dub was used).

I haven't had Pay TV for years so i have no idea if it's being aired elsewhere.

That is kind of strange, if Portugal is still airing DB that means people must obviously watch it and so wouldn't bringing the new movies to theatre's make sense?

France: For Dragon Ball Z, always, on Mangas TV and D17 (an popular MTV-like channel... moreless, in France), in his uncensored version.
Dragon Ball Kai, it's more confidential unfortunaly. DBKai and DBKai:The Last Chapters are airing on Game One and J-One, cable TV channels, in japanese (with subtitles) and french. An censored version of DBKai was brodcasted in 2011/2012 on Nickelodeon (like in America).

And for Dragon Ball, the first series... unfortunaly, this is really rareful. The last time I saw that series in television was in 2009 maybe, on a shitty local TV called IDF1...

In Belgium (French side & Dutch side), i've don't see any Dragon Ball Series since the early 2000s (French Dub of DB,DBZ,DBGT+Movies for the French side on Club RTL/AB3, and the English's Ocean Dub with Dutch subtitles of DBZ for the Dutch Side on 2BE (and maybe Cartoon Network Belgium? idunno...)... But anyway, we have the French's channels Mangas, Nickelodeon and Game One in Belgium. That's suck just for the BE Dutch side unfortunaly....
"Sorry for my bad english."

Thanks for all the replies. If you know anything else about some other countries, don't hesitate to write it here.

For that matter, it would also make sense to dub Kai, which they haven't. Portugal dubbed the original three animes and the movies, but for Kai, they just aired it in Japanese with Portuguese subtitles. Portuguese subtitles that were, weirdly enough, translated from the uncut FUNimation dub's script for the first half of the show. Halfway through the show they got a new translator who translated the actual Japanese dialogue...but either way, it's rather odd that Portugal never got a dub of Kai.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."
