I guess this is only for Dragon Ball right?
I have a few pages from an artbook of MGS4 than I'm itching to get translated.

I guess this is not really a "translation request", but.. what's the japanese term used in Daizenshuu 7 for Garlic Jr's "Gigantification" transformation?

強大化/kyoudai-ka. 強大/kyoudai=gigantic while 化/ka means a change, and when used as a suffix it's equivalent to "-fication" and things like that. For comparison, the Japanese word for mechanization is 機械化/kikai-ka, with 機械/kikai meaning "machine".Sandubadear wrote:I guess this is not really a "translation request", but.. what's the japanese term used in Daizenshuu 7 for Garlic Jr's "Gigantification" transformation?
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

She says she and Vegeta aren't living together, that he should be there soon, and that he's doing some sort of "amazing" training.rereboy wrote:*snip*

Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
I need someone to help me with the first couple of lines Goku says in the Bardock special preview. I think the second one says "My father, Bardock, a low class warrior, will fight for the sake of the Saiyans pride", but the first one is kinda tricky. Anyone?

That's exactly how I'd translate it, but there might be a more nitpicky way of reading it.Teen GohanZ wrote:I've seen an online version translate it as "I can sense your presence"

They're both correct, but each translation omitted the other half.Teen GohanZ wrote:Can someone translate what Vegeta says in the bottom right panel please? I've seen an online version translate it as "I can sense your presence", while Viz uses a more generic "You can't escape your death". I was wondering if the original suggested that Vegeta started sensing energy back on Earth.Spoiler:
D-Dammit!! Where are you!!!
Where the hell did you go!!!
You can't get away!!! (lit: Escaping is futile!!!) I know you're there!!!! (lit: I'm aware of your presence!!!!)
But no, it's not typical ki sensing (which is usually 気を感じる). It's probably part figurative, and part frustrated threats.
EDIT: Whoops, beaten. But I said other words too, so I guess I'll post it anyway.

More of a general thing than a specific translation, but in the japanese Manga and anime, did Killa (The black guy from the 25th Budokai in the Buu Arc) have any special speech patterns?
Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
Nope. He's only talking funny in the Funi dub.jcogginsa wrote:More of a general thing than a specific translation, but in the japanese Manga and anime, did Killa (The black guy from the 25th Budokai in the Buu Arc) have any special speech patterns?

When translating Kibito's name, can it be translated as "Kibit" for the same reason "Kakarotto" can be translated as "Kakarot"?

Yes; it's no worse than "Krillin". Even Steve Simmons used Kibit.Tyro wrote:When translating Kibito's name, can it be translated as "Kibit" for the same reason "Kakarotto" can be translated as "Kakarot"?
It isn't wrong, but it hides the pun a bit too much, and it's more awkward to say out loud.

Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
Thanks, I figured it must be true once I saw FUNi's subtitles use it. That's actually what brought it to my attention, but I remembering some old scanslations I read that also used it. Works for me because I like to use "Kakarotto" over "Kakarot" anyway to help preserve the pun in Vegetto's name.EmmaWinters wrote:Yes; it's no worse than "Krillin". Re: The All-Purpose "Translation Request" Thread
Daimao did mention the "Kibit" and "Dabura" spellings were mistakes and that he'd have fixed them if it wasn't for Funi refusing to have name spellings differ between releases.Tyro wrote:Thanks, I figured it must be true once I saw FUNi's subtitles use it. Paragus says so
herms me you could confirm this translation of DBZ movie 8? I got this text from a subtitle of a DVD."we would no longer have a single foe left. The Northern Galaxy, and of course
the Eastern and Western Galaxies, would be undivided under our rule. "
