Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
It's possible they might not put out volumes. They never put one out for the Heroes manga. I hope they put out volumes though. It'd be nice to have. Especially once we get to Uni 6.
Yu-Gi-Oh gets its VJump manga in volumes, but I think it's a different set of circumstances for that.

The manga chapters don't seem to follow each other completely chapter by chapter. I doubt we will get volumes of the manga into one.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I don't think Victory Mission is a great example. The series just barely got to a page count suitable to be collected into a tankobon before it was cancelled put on hiatus. There really wasn't a reason to go through the effort.Chuquita wrote:It's possible they might not put out volumes. They never put one out for the Heroes manga. I hope they put out volumes though. If Super continues long enough to reach an appropriate page count throughout the manga and anime's run though, I could see it getting a release. Sadly, the volumes will be spread thin because of the page count and monthly publication. It'll probably take around another 8 months before we have enough material for a single volume at the rate they are going.
Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are the only ones that really have that bit of a disconnect problem. But considering that 2-4 flow pretty well into each other, they could collect them as a tankobon without much of a worry so long as the narrative status quo continues.Hellspawn28 wrote:The manga chapters don't seem to follow each other completely chapter by chapter. Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
There's a ton of cutting corners to fit 4 episodes on average into 1, but I would still enjoy an actual volume even if the chapters were a bit wonky in continuity.Hellspawn28 wrote:The manga chapters don't seem to follow each other completely chapter by chapter. Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Overall, I think I'm enjoying the manga more than the anime (probably just 'cause of it already bringing in Universe 6 plot elements). In the old days, it felt like the manga was steady paced while the anime was slow paced. But now it feels like the anime is steady paced while the manga is super fast paced. lol I really wish it could be at least a biweekly manga, that way it could actually expand on things a bit better and not have to rush through certain points so fast.
It's kind of funny if you try to imagine how the old manga would've been with Super's manga pacing... Imagine the start of the Saiyan saga covering the whole fiasco on Kami Sennin's island in just two pages with various pictures accompanied by narration boxes going something like, "[Panel 1: Goku and Raditz looking at eachother] The mysterious warrior with a tail revealed he was actually Goku's brother, Raditz, and that they were both members of an alien race called the saiyans. He wanted Goku to join him to conquer worlds, but Goku refused. [Panel 2: Goku beat up with Raditz holding Gohan] He easily beat Goku and took his son hostage to try persuading him. [Panel 3: Piccolo standing there] Piccolo then showed up and suggested they fight together." Cut to the start of the fight!

Still no sign of restocks for the November issue, but the December issue is now up for preorder on Amazon.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
That's a pretty good question. When V-Jump releases, we'll be at Episode 15. That's the one with the title about Satan's "miracle". The manga usually covers the next month worth of episodes, and that will put us at Episode 20, which is supposedly Jaco going to warn Bluma about Freeza's resurrection.eledoremassis02 wrote:Thanks for the heads up. So, I wonder if the manga will cover all this "new" material (there is a decent amount of it), or just skip right to the meat of the plot from the film version and fill the rest of the time with Champa stuff...?
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Most likely your second option. Setting up the next arc and skipping the filler, with a bit of Champa or none. Since he just went away to do his thing, I don't see them showing his true objectives so soon. Although there's hope for surprises and if they skip Champa for a bit we may get some info about the new Dragon Balls or the Namekian Ancient Book, stuff like that.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:That's a pretty good question. Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Looks like we got our answer. According to a scan translation by Herms over on Twitter:
Spoiler:
So, it seems like Toyotaro isn't doing "F" content, and will just leave it with the implication that it happened by the tease at the end of the BOG content, or maybe a short summary of the events at the start of the next chapter? So, the Super manga is starting the "Champa arc" and its story will move on ahead of the anime. More so than it is already.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Oh yeah, I guess I should have posted this here rather than in the Official Announcement thread:
Witness it in the manga! An unknown super story development!!!
Speeding up the excitement of the TV anime even more!! Check out this completely new DB manga series!!
Toyotaro-sensei tears it up in V-Jump!! Charging on ahead of the TV anime, the "Champa arc" starts up!!
DB Super is in the midst of a successful run on TV!! And you'll be able to read "what's up ahead" for the TV show in the manga running in V-Jump!! What's the goal of the unknown entity "Champa"!?
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?
Sometimes, I tweet things
We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Awesome. So awesome. I don't even care what the motive behind this (Shueisha wising up to the dropping viewership due to reBOG?) this is great!
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Champa arc? Is there going to be another arc between the RoF and Universe 6 arcs in Super or something?
I had the impression that Champa was going to play a main role in the Universe 6 arc but I don't think that was ever said.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Maybe they're calling the Uni 6 arc the Champa arc, officially? I don't think the arc had an official name until now if that's what this is.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Oh well, I was hoping that the manga would present a coherent story - sure, a shortened one but still a whole story and not just snippets...
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
We'll probably learn 2 things from the upcoming chapter, how the Freeza arc ends and why they're going after the Super DBs.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
Didnt the foes be the name of the sagas in DBZ? they had
-Saiyans Saga
-Freeza Saga
-Androids Saga
-Cell Saga
-Buu Saga
So i think they will do the same for Super.
-Beerus Saga
-Golden Freeza Saga/Freeza Saga 2
-Champa Saga
