They're only permitted a certain number of drawings per episode. They prefer to have short bursts of great, highly detailed animation, rather than lengthy, barely animated scenes. It's just not feasible to have both for a Toei TV series.ekrolo2 wrote:What is their deal with having the characters fight for five seconds, back off, stare at each other and constantly repeat it over and over? Super's got only 2500 drawings per episode as opposed to the original anime's 3500 drawings per episode.ekrolo2 wrote:What is their deal with having the characters fight for five seconds, back off, stare at each other and constantly repeat it over and over? He seems really into his heavily choreographed action, at the moment. It looks really nice, so I can't complain. After Kei17 pointed out that 90% of the major fight in Resurrection 'F' is just "Punch. Throw into rocks. Repeat", it's kinda nice to see this type of choreography put to good use in a major fight scene.

Wouw, man. I think that was one hell of a great episode. And Vegeta before al others noticed that Gokuu needed to get used to the God powers as Super-Saiyajin. After all this time Gokuu's rival was the one who has not lost faith in him and noticed what was going on.
Vegeta; You are not dealing with the average Saiyan warrior anymore, Beerus. He has become a Super Saiyan God!
That is all that should have happened ha, ha.

This is the first episode that actually looked good.
Still nowhere near the level of BoG, but it's a start.

Is this a conscious choice or a result of them rushing everything into production because of RoF?DBZAOTA482 wrote:Super's got only 2500 drawings per episode as opposed to the original anime's 3500 drawings per episode.ekrolo2 wrote:What is their deal with having the characters fight for five seconds, back off, stare at each other and constantly repeat it over and over? When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

And it has nowhere near the budget of a movie, but it's not that far off in quality. Especially when they edit each episode for the Bluray version.

Vegeta hasn't said a single word in 4 episodes and still managed to be badass.

Loved this episode, and my god it was gorgeous at times. SSJG and Goku when he reverted to a SSJ looked superb. Away from the animation I actually enjoyed the episode, it had a small break from the fighting, but at times its needed and I didn't feel like the other characters took up too much screen time. It feels like Supers got a flow going at the minute. Hopefully the RoF arc will be very enjoyable.
For now I just can't wait for the next episode.

Well... 3 really good episodes in a row, I'm getting excited again with Super. Although I 'm afraid that this will not last for the arrival of the (for me) absolutely useless FoF/RoF arc.
And this battle, Beerus is weaker than BoG right?
Always good to see the Super Saiyajin again. My favorite transformation.
The new ending is awesome. Man! Good song, good drawings.

Amazing episode! I really like it! Good dialogues, nice fighting scenes and choreography... They really nailed it this time!

Much better then the last episode. Only problem was the first half dragged on for a while.
Gohan getting energy and flying is a hint that his rage boost when someone he cares for is in trouble to be a thing again? Yes? No? Hopefully yes.
Also I'm a big fan of the new Ending, much better then the 1st one imo.

That's exactly how I feel, pal! lolAjay wrote:This love-hate relationship with Super is fun. I'm excited to watch this all back in a year's time and see how I feel then. Bring on next week!
Anyway... It is now confirmed that Beerus and SSJG Goku are fighting at full power or is Beerus still holding back a little?

There's no confusion. It's pretty much assumed now that SSGSS need training to achieve, Goku recently absorbed godly powers... It would be silly to him achieve SSGSS only by transforming in a basic SSJ in the middle of the battle.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:The comment about him keeping the power could have still easily been made and there wouldn't have been a need for the potentially confusing situation of why Goku was a Super Saiyan without it being blue.
EDIT: Not entirely sure why Goku's Super Saiyan form will transition into SSGSS in Super though. According to Herms' summary, when Goku dropped out of god mode, he for certain lost his god ki. Not sure just having the battle power he did as a god should make the form blue... lol

Re: Super Episode 13 (04 October 2015)
good episode, but there is a big problem in this series and in all db production after the tarble's oav: the hand to hand fights are too slow. In the dbz serie you can hardly see the hits...
for example a scene like this is rare these days:

Re: Super Episode 13 (04 October 2015)
Could be both, although I've seen no confirmation of Dragon Ball Super having 2,500 drawings per episode. Due to how short the recaps are there is more time that needs to be filled, so even the regular 3,000 drawings will be spread even further.ekrolo2 wrote:Is this a conscious choice or a result of them rushing everything into production because of RoF?DBZAOTA482 wrote: Super's got only 2500 drawings per episode as opposed to the original anime's 3500 drawings per episode.
That's the same few drawings repeated over and over again, hardly exciting.NormalHero wrote:good episode, but there is a big problem in this series and in all db production after the tarble's oav: the hand to hand fights are too slow. In the dbz serie you can hardly see the hits...

Personally I like slow hand-to-hand. We honestly don't get enough of that. And the show still has its share of fast "repeat these frames" fights. Re: Super Episode 13 (04 October 2015)
i personally think that if the drawings are repeated for few seconds in scene like this the fights are more cool than the slowly fights like bills vs ssjgod goku...JulieYBM wrote:ekrolo2 wrote:DBZAOTA482 wrote:

obviously this is a my opinion.
in the first db serie the extreme fast hand to hand hits are the base of the fights... and in some moments you can't see the blows probably to make people understand the power of the fighters
Re: Super Episode 13 (04 October 2015)
Dragon Ball Super has tried to refrain from repeating action animation like Dragon Ball Z used to, so that definitely cuts down on the available drawings, too. The 'slower' exchanges require more original drawings, obviously.garfield15 wrote:Personally I like slow hand-to-hand. We honestly don't get enough of that. THis fight is so boring guys, i thought it will end with the current episode but in next ep. it will continue. And the animation from preview is like ep. 5.
