This is pretty awesome! I like that she's a fan of Gohan, hope that sticks :3 Actually, I like a lot of her reactions. I remember how animated I used to get over the developments of the series, which is not something I can really experience again knowing what happens already.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Yeah, I'm probably bugging the shit out of her when I ask her to tell what she thought of everything in detail but it's awesome to see someone watch the series for the first time.Saiga wrote:This is pretty awesome! I'm curious as to how she'll react to an adult Gohan in the Buu arc. That cuteness she loves isn't quite there anymore. I imagine Goten will fill that role.

I think it would be interesting to have he watch GT, but without telling her that it's bad.

Knowing how she loves Gohan so much, I can just imagine her reaction to Gohan singing in 'The Strongest Guy in the World'

I'm tempted to show her Kelamis as Goku in that film. I really enjoy the dub for the first three movies.

It's still going! I figured it wouldn't be worth just updating for the sake of some brief thoughts on the Freeza fight and Super Saiyan transformation. I'll likely update around the time Gohan and Trunks find Cell's exoskeleton thing. I can certainly do it sooner if people are desperate for an update!

Re: A Newcomer's Experience
Not surprised she's finding the Cell stuff boring and tedious, especially at the never-ending Vegeta/Trunks island confrontation. Perhaps a bit surprised she didn't find Cell at least somewhat intriguing before that, but you didn't specifically mention it.

Re: A Newcomer's Experience
Yeah I find that arc dull too mainly because the Androids are so bland. Cell's interesting when he first shows up, but then turns into a Vegeta/Freeza rehash he becomes Perfect.

Re: A Newcomer's Experience
She just hasn't liked him flat out, really.
She really hated his bwerhhh sound that he makes and just genuinely found all the situations he was in annoying.
Vegeta's overwhelming arrogance and Trunks' facilitating of it has been driving her mad too. Which I guess is intended but does make for an infuriating experience when you're already tired of the fight.
Piccolo's first bout with Cell was something she liked but that was only quite short in Kai.

Dragon Ball GT isn't actually bad (imo) I'm rewatching it again and it's very enjoyable, quite a different experience from DB and Z but that doesn't mean it's bad or anything.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I think it would be interesting to have he watch GT, but without telling her that it's bad.
Already on episode 31 and wish it was longer than 64 episodes.

I also don't find it bad (though the first episodes are very boring), but most people find it from bad to horrible, and when you tell someone to watch something "but be careful, it's bad", it does give a negativity to their final impression sometimes.dbboxkaifan wrote:Dragon Ball GT isn't actually bad (imo) I'm rewatching it again and it's very enjoyable, quite a different experience from DB and Z but that doesn't mean it's bad or anything.

I had no real qualms with GT really. It's not great by any means but it's not the abomination it's made out to be.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:I also don't find it bad (though the first episodes are very boring), but most people find it from bad to horrible, and when you tell someone to watch something "but be careful, it's bad", it does give a negativity to their final impression sometimes.dbboxkaifan wrote:Dragon Ball GT isn't actually bad (imo) I'm rewatching it again and it's very enjoyable, quite a different experience from DB and Z but that doesn't mean it's bad or anything.

The whole redo-Dragon-Ball-in-Space thing was kinda shitty but after that I didn't really mind it.
Its last arc and ending were pretty great all round, I felt.

Re: A Newcomer's Experience
Eh, the earlier episodes just lack tension because you just wonder why they don't just one-shot the obstacles. The Bebi and Super 17 arc stuff is fun, but the Shadow Dragons arc I found entirely dull.

Interesting. I found Super 17 to be dull with only the initial Dragon Ball hunt in the Shadow Dragons arc to be a little on the edge of boring.Kid Buu wrote:Eh, the earlier episodes just lack tension because you just wonder why they don't just one-shot the obstacles. Re: A Newcomer's Experience
Baby arc and Super 17 are the parts I can find the most enjoyment out of. Some parts of the final Shadow Dragon battle weren't bad either, but that's it.
Anyway! I'm glad to see more of an update. I like that she appreciates 16.
Shame she's losing interest here, though. Hopefully she makes it to the Boo arc.

Re: A Newcomer's Experience
Very cool to see a newcomer's response to Dragon ball Z (as others have stated)! It takes me back to my first time watching DBZ as a child and getting my mind blown with Great Ape Vegeta! I'm currently going through the anime series with my wife (starting from Dragon Ball) and she is enjoying the humor of DB very much. I wish I could have my memory erased and do it all over again (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind anyone?).

They've changed my life - changed the way I act on the earth. Doesn't that make them kind of real? They might be imaginary but, but they're more important than most of us here. And they're all gonna be around here long after we're dead. So, in a way, those things are more realer than any of us.
Re: A Newcomer's Experience
Small update:
She's just watched a few episodes into the Cell Games and said that she's starting to enjoy it a lot more now they're off the same island with Vegeta and Trunks and the whole 'absorbing junk' is done with. She still doesn't like Cell as a character and said that he's a 'shitty blend of Vegeta and Freeza' but she's really excited for the Cell Games now!
So glad that little bout of demotivation is over. I was worried for a bit that she was going to give up before it got good! She praised Vegeta's first fatherly signs when Trunks was in trouble and I told her there's way more of that to come in the Buu arc so hopefully that'll keep her watching!
