As for distributing the DVD... yes, the plan was to limit "distribution" (free, of course. We don't wanna get our asses sued here) of any future physical DVDs (or torrenting the DVD image, however one goes about doing that) to mostly those involved in the project, and nobody more than members of the forum. Once you have a DVD, you can do whatever you want with it... keep it on your shelf, burn it, make it a coaster... whatever. But the "general viewing public" (i.e. those not involved or on DaizEX at all) will have to settle for watching it on Stage6.
I think I've got an idea about that. Why don't we make an iso file from the DVD (later on) and host that on a site or something. Then whoever wants it, can download it and burn it so they can have their own DVD =)
I don't know if it'll really work, but it's just an idea.

Another idea I had is somehow downloading this thread or something and having it shown (either in text form or this kinda style) in the DVD as an option, since I think this thread alone beats out any commentary =D

Yeah, putting up the DVD .iso (you can do that? ) for folks to download and burn the discs themselves IS sounding a LOT better than making some poor soul produce and mail out all those physical discs. We'll still make and mail one out to Mike, though.

...And... I dunno. I think it'd actually be (a lot) more fun to somehow link up a bunch of us for a recording session while watching it. Like, we'll all have it playing on Stage6 while we're all in a conference chat and somehow recording it... I'm sure there's some way to do that. We'll reminisce about the early production stages, have some giggles at the sounds our voices, talk about my sporadic bouts of emo that nearly killed the project... It'd be a party, that's for sure.

Pasting the thread is a good idea, too. But it's a LOT of pages (nearing 60 now, and probably a LOT more once we're "finished"), too much to make it worth reading, IMO...

My computer isn't exactly able to burn DVDs, hence I'm kinda relying on getting a physical mailing when all is said and done. >_>

If noone else does, I'll burn and mail out copies to whomever wants them :)

I can be in charge of that. I've already got the FTP set up, so I might as well host the file when everything's said and done. Hell, I can even make the ISO if the finished product is uploaded back onto the server (even give it some nifty menu's, etc.—if you'll let me do the DVD, that is.)

As far as a joint-commentary goes, this could very easily be accomplished via Skype. Establish a conference call with all the participants; have one person record it all on his or her computer. The only thing I would be concerned about is lag between individual viewings. Maybe we could set up a streaming web page that everyone visits at the same time. Something to look into, but it could work.

But all that is further along the way anyway. Let's focus on getting it done first, shall we?

I would also like to take this time to ask ANY VIDEO EDITOR HAVING TROUBLE LOGGING IN to PM me as soon as you can. I'm seeing a lot of IPs bounce, and I'm not sure if they're legit or not. And for those who have been able to log in, do you have all the pieces? I ask because I have been running my computer without restarting for a while now, and though I'd like to take it down for a bit, I don't want to inconvenience anyone. Thanks in advance.

If you're gonna distribute the DVDs, you'll need one of those CD printer things (for the image on the disk), a high quality printer (for the cover), and lots of cases.

About the commentary. At what time could we possibly get together, and record? I can't do it beyond 10:00 PM ('cause that's my bed-time), and before then, it could be difficult because of different time-zones (and our schedules may not allow it). And... to add to that, what will I say? I'm nervous... :(

Acid, I've been trying to access the server, but to no avail. I'll PM you. :)

We've got LOOOOAAADS of time before we have to worry about making the commentary. We need a finished product to comment on before we can comment on it. We'll figure out who's gonna do it and when later.

Right now, our concerns are getting you guys hooked up with the footage, and figuring out where the hell Kino is with the script so we can start recording.

Acid to the rescue again, menu-making and everything. Though with how much trouble folks are having accessing the FTP, we might want to go with setting up a torrent, tho' I'm not sure how it's any different or how that works... For those among us who can't burn them ourselves, I'm sure we wouldn't mind actually making and mailing out a few (For those who REALLY can't burn them and need us to. We ain't made of postage stamps, here!).

Also the sig banner ad things. I posted what I had in mind on the last page. Should we go with that, or should we do something else? Should we just use and shoop around with already-existent Toei art of the characters, or should I draw some up?

EDIT: Oh, snap, I just noticed Steven Perry's banner idea.

I like that concept. Tullece's scouter is on his left side, though, so I'll have to flip which side the characters are on if we wanted to emphasize the scouter. But sweet, I can draw that... I hope.

Yeah... I'm sorry to keep editing, but I did another edit. :P (Have a look)

The cover for X-Men 2 also uses the same idea:

While you're drawing it, could you post up your in-progress pics?

Hmmm... Yes, I see what you're getting at.

Unfortunately, I'm leaving for work (again) in a little while, and I'll be there till 11 PM @_@ so I won't be getting much/any drawing done today. I'll see what I can whip up tomorrow morning, though.

I've gotta run in a minute (to work, but before that I've gotta get to the post office to send out something to someone in exchange for something resembling joy, I think) but if noone's shown anything for that banner when I get back I'll throw together something quick (if only to show a proof-of-concept).

I'm currently downloading the .vobs right now. This may take me all day though. So please don't take anything down within the next 24 hours.

Setting up a torrent is a lot different, and would involve setting up a private tracker and a .torrent file—which would both sit on a server anyway, so albeit the few kinks we've run into (which are being ironed out), I personally think FTP is a little bit easier to manage. That, and it's familiar territory for me. The one advantage of a torrent, however, would be many people hosting instead of just one. I'd look at it as an option if the FTP somehow fails to work out entirely... diligence is key here, though.

Did you manage to get them? I saw a retrieve attempt at 16:41 UTC but then the connection was closed at 17:34 (ostensibly by you). Was this on purpose?

They're from the box-sets Pioneer released for the first two seasons of DBZ, the Ocean version.

Desiré, that's exactly the kind of banner I was thinking of! Excellent work!

And... there's something I've been doing in secret...

A trailer.

*Dun dun dun*

It's at the concept stage, and I'd like Arcwave to help me with it later on. Once I get the footage, it will be in higher quality. And also, if you guys think it's got potential, I need some voice-overs for it: a young girl, and a mother. I was thinking Kaboom's sister and Kino could help out here.

Obviously, the syncing and quality have all been reduced, but you get the idea of what I'm thinking about. I made sure it was a very... impersonal trailer, with only certain parts of Tullece shown, and more emphasis on the dark, and destroyed Earth.

Not sure if I feel insulted that you find the need to do another trailer or what. For the moment, our attentions are spread across the posters, animated sigs for other forums, waiting for Kino to deliver the final script so we can for-real start recording, even some of us thinking of how our eventual limited DVDs will be handled. In my honest opinion, another trailer is the last thing we need, especially considering our attentions are spread about as it is. Also, as I already implied, I may feel personally insulted if another trailer is made. No offense to yourself Steven, but I did work hard on the original trailer and having another one show up just seems to rub the wrong way to me. Though if it's somewhere along the lines of a short "teaser trailer", I guess I wouldn't have any qualms with that. But still, once Kino delivers that script, all of our hands will be tied; as if they aren't already.

I hope this isn't a Vegeta-esque 'You've ruined my pride!' thing... :?

It's not like there was only one Spider-Man trailer. And yeah, it is a teaser trailer. I think it's around half the length of your one, and doesn't reveal that much- so it can be seen as a 'teaser trailer'. So, what do you think...? :P

No, it isn't that. I just get the sense that if you and possibly others here want another trailer made, then the work I put into the final product of my own wouldn't be much appreciated or respected. But anywho, if it is just a "teaser trailer" along those lines, I don't mind. A big concern of mine is that we have enough worries on this project, is another trailer necessary?
Steven Perry wrote:So, what do you think...? :P
I really don't wanna come off as harsh, but I honestly didn't like it. The concept of having a young girl and her mother do religious talking over these seemingly random shots of the movie just doesn't fit movie 3, as opposed to using actual lines from the movie or saying what it's about. With the religious talk...ehh, I just don't see how it has any place in DBZ at all, aside from Kuririn mumbling something along your lines once in the Ocean dub. Certain Movie Maker transitions you use also seem a bit too generic for my tastes. You gotta keep in mind, I made many demos and literally worked months on our "theatrical trailer", your "teaser" will need some thought-out aspects and practice demos, etc. I personally don't mind your source of footage, since I myself used the same quality as your concept's.

If you do go through with this Steven, best of luck and (as long as it's limited to being a "Teaser trailer") you have my full blessing.
