Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

Well, from what I understood, Vegeta became more powerful in his rage at seeing Bulma get slapped. I may have assumed that Vegeta fought Birusu for a bit, prior to the god slapping Bulma.
But still, even if the entire Vegeta VS Birusu battle happens after Bulma gets slapped, Vegeta still managed to surpass Goku because of his feelings, not because he has trained like crazy and has now become more powerful than Goku. I mean, Goku even jokes about having the next enemy slap Bulma so Vegeta can become that powerful again.

I believe the joke is putting Bulma in harm's way again, not that Vegeta got powerful because of it. I think it's pretty clear that seeing Bulma get hurt caused Vegeta to reach for a power far beyond than what he usually has.
It seems like you're implying that at the start of the movie, Vegeta has long since surpassed both Goku and Gohan by training only. If that's what you're saying, I seriously doubt it. For that to happen, Vegeta must have done nothing but training during those 5 years, while Goku kept planting radishes, without training at all. And even then, it'd find it hard to believe, to be honest.

Anyways, so the pun is on Virus, then? Hmmm, it'll be interesting to see how it gets translated into Spanish and English. Especially Uisu's.

Muten Roshi said Vegeta might have gotten stronger then Goku or something like that. Though I personally take it as base or SSJ2. Then again the script writter being a Vegeta fan theory explains the whole thing.

Well, a x10 difference is a huge difference, and Goku got at most 3 times stronger (without counting his SS forms) during 7 years of training in better conditions than his Earth training. So, I would say that it would be very hard to make a x10 power jump during the 10 years on Earth.

In the end though, it doesn't matter, because Goku is now the Super Saiyan God.

I agree with this statement entirely. I have Gohan at minimum 16x stronger then SSJ3 Goku when I do comparisons. I don't get why people think FPSSJ increases your base or makes the SSJ multiplier bigger, FPSSJ is the same as SSJ. The only difference is that strain has been greatly reduced so then ki can be utilized more effitiently.

I also take the Vegeta thing as probably a Toriyama (more likely the script writer) gag that is one time only.

I have Goku getting almost 5x stronger in 7 years and that's only because I feel he spent more time figuring out SSJ2 and 3. I have my opinions about how powerful people get in time and I think Vegeta surpassed both Goku and Gohan. Oh and I made a little mistake. 1.25^5 is not a 6.25x increase, the increase depends on the persons power level. Either way these are still fairly large increases.

On the topic of kei's summary, holy crap, 9 pages and possibly still growing?! Yeah, I'm going to love reading that when it comes out. I'm the weird kind that doesn't mind spoilers, so I'm going to be reading that full-length one and getting eevvveeerryyyytthhhiiinnggg there is to know about this movie out of it.

As for the name pun, so it is a pun on 'virus' after all, for both new characters' names? If that's the case, and we essentially go with 'Birus' for him, then what would be the appropriate name for Whis/Uisu/Other Guy?

I know how you feel, I was pissed with the whole situation of Gohan possibly losing his power up. I would have preferred Vegeta get SSJG instead of this really out of place gag.

According to 2ch, Watanabe said Birusu was pun for virus in an interview in GetNavi.

That's the specific new bit that had me wondering if it'd been confirmed yet. And yeah, I was starting to like his name being 'Beers' too.

We should clarify that the "English version" of the synopsis was at 9 pages at the time. Kei gave everything to us in Japanese, so we're turning his list into a coherently flowing synopsis, which will help everyone out in the long run. With Kei seeing it twice already, the new official movie guide, and Julian going to see it in a few days, we're set with all the information we need. Anyway, as of last night it was at 10 pages. This will definitely be the best synopsis of all time, ever! So naturally it will end up being spread across the entire internet in no time, with the majority of people having no idea where it came from...

The whole thing unfolds as follows: After everyone else (Tenshinhan, Piccolo, No. 18, etc.) have been defeated, Vegeta decides to fight Birusu on his own, and is ultimately defeated. Birusu is about to finish off Vegeta, who has admitted defeat at this point, but then Bulma walks up and scolds Birusu for ruining her birthday party, slapping him. Birusu returns the favor and slaps her right back. Vegeta sees this and explodes in a fit of rage, and starts knocking Birusu around for a bit. Kame-Sen'nin, who is watching, says in amazement that it looks like Vegeta has surpassed Goku.

I really wouldn't read too much into it. It's an offhanded comment from Kame-Sen'nin about an emotionally enraged Vegeta who catches Birusu off guard. As soon as Vegeta's rampage is over, Birusu is just fine and Vegeta once again accepts his and the planet's fate. But apparently this is what everyone wants to discuss lately, which has me at a loss because I don't care enough about it I guess.

Seems Birusu just let Vegeta get his steam out which is nice of him. This way all logic returns. Also they may discuss it because Bulma is a motivation for Vegeta I guess.

Also what do you think of the movie. Is it really the best dbz movie as kei17 said.

I want to address everyone who has seen kei17's summary from the kanzenshuu heads. Ignoring all battle statements, what is your verdict on the movie.
