On that one, you can see very clearly where you tried to blend the frames using the smudge tool. You should take a very large, and soft/blurry eraser, and then erase the very edges of them so that the frames fade into each other. That's what I, and I think The Time Traveller use.

The problem is when Rareboy ripped the video he made discrete compressed video files, instead of just taking the VOBs. The best thing to do is to colour correct the individual frames before stitching them together.

That one is very hard to do. The background is animated independently from the Goku shot at a completely different speed. Also, even Goku is animated with at least three positions.

Because of that, the jets of color of the background never aligned themselves from frame to frame.

My only option was to try to forcefully make them align with each other with the smudge tool. The result wasn`t bad but it is noticeable.

The static or almost static pans are easy to do. These very animated ones are the ones which are hard.

Maybe later I will try do it better, but I don`t think it will be much better. If anyone wants to do it a better version of if, by all means, do it. I would also like to have a better version of it.

Thanks for the advice on eraser tool. I might try it to see if I get better results.

That was not the problem at all. The alignment of the jets of color of the animated background was the problem in this pan.

The ripping process just made everything slightly more blurred but it still looks good. Also, it allows my manual sludge manipulation of the edges of the frames be much less noticeable.

This pan also had the same problem:

But since there were less jets of color, it is less noticeable than the one we were discussing.

Anyway, I decided to cheat a little to make that pan look better. So I mirrored some parts of the left background to make the background align with itself.

Here is pan nº5 V.2:

Edit: I corrected something that was wrong in V2 so here`s V3: http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5895/ep205v3.png

This way you can choose which one you prefer.

Oh, I meant that the decompression and auto colour correction of the rip was the reason you can clearly see the stitching. Especially in Goku's hair there. It just changes colour, it's striking.

Ah, you have really good eyes. I didn`t even notice it. I actually had to look at the picture from different angles on my computer to be able to tell the difference and my computer screen is not that bad at all

Well, I`m no expert at all, just an amateur and I just do what I can, the best that I can.

Any other higher quality version of any pan shot that I make is very welcomed.

Anyway, in light of what you said I improved his hair a little bit just to make the transition a little more subtle: http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/4006/ep205v4.png

And any constructive critique is welcomed of course.

(Well, this pan shot gave more trouble than its worth )

Edit: I noticed that Goku100xKamehameha had already posted this pan, but it was too small, so that`s why I did it again.

Okay I spent way to much time on this and I want someone else to finish this. I wanted to make a tall AVI of this shot showing the animation. Problems with it/things I didn't bother finishing, the sky doesn't blend correctly, clouds jump around, and King Cold's complete animation is never shown. So I made the AVI of the concept, but it is taking to long and it is very incomplete. Solutions to the King Cold's incomplete animation, just crop him out or have him just stay there without his cape moving.

Here is an example of one frame. (Please ignore the ugliness/flaws of it, didn't have time to prettify it.)
Image

Other frames if anyone else is interested:

Here is all the project files, in the RAR there is a file called "Trunks Killing Freeza Pan.png" where it shows all the layers and images: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3855861/Pans/Tr ... %20pan.rar

Here is an AVI of the concept of what I was looking for (Ignore clouds and King Cold, focus on Trunks' clothes waving in the wind)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3855861/Pans/Tr ... roject.avi

(Probably have to manually download to see it)

I am so done working on this, if someone else wants to do this please be my guest.

Good job with that one. However, there are two areas of Radditz`s hair where it is slightly noticeable the change in color of the different frames. The first one is just on top of Radditz`s tail and the second one is just on top of Radditz`s right shoulder. If you manually apply a smudge tool on those areas, the colors will mix together and hopefully it will no longer be noticeable.

Here are some new ones. The King Cold pan needs some fixing, but I am not into image editing so anyone can take that up.

I am tempted to make an AVI of this shot.

It wouldn't look perfect, but if you took a few extra in between shots, and used a large, soft, blurry eraser in Photoshop, then I believe it could look decent.
