You don't want a movie in which Detective Son finds the murderer of his grandfather?.

I'd like to know how they're going to handle Shenlong in the movie. Is he even going to appear in the movie and is he going to be CGI? I'm surprised there hasn't been much discussion about this, or maybe I'm just slow and missed all of it.

I think that he'll be in the middle of the film. Since Daimao ends up getting all of his balls("Namekians don't have penises and testicles" joke) anyway, he should regain his youth midway through the film.

There is this picture that is supposed to be from the set. It seems like a pretty accurate representation of Shenlong, so I'm pretty sure they'll get it right...I'm just worried about the colors they'll use for him, and his voice...especially his voice...ya, now I'm really worried about the voice they'll use for him. :|

It'd be a good twist if Sabat did his voice in this movie.

That'd be great, but not as good as if they used the voice actor that actually did Shenlongs voice (in the Japanese version, as long as the guy can speak English properly).

James Marsters wrote:Though there are differences between the two, I think it is all right if the core part of Dragonball remains. I let my son watch the anime’s Dragonball, DBZ and DBGT since he was eight years old. At first, I thought it was too violent, but I realized this is the best show for training to become a true man. True men need not to flaunt themselves. Their calm, gentle and modest but when it comes to the crunch they don’t hesitate to kill the enemy, and I think that’s what Goku is.

Goku is a real man. I know my son received such a message and applied it to his own life. My son doesn’t use violence to others, but he isn’t afraid of his own anger. I think it’s an important thing.
I just thought Mr Marsters had some really cool things to say here.
James Marsters wrote:When I have a problem, I have a talk with Justin. At first, we worried about the costumes. We thought it should reflect the spirit of the original, we persisted this thought to the producers. We didn’t want to make our characters beautiful and safe. I talked with Justin, and he agreed with me. So did the director.
Marsters seems to be taking a lot of pride in his role of Piccolo and I'm glad to see that he has knowledge about the anime and wants to try to stick as closely to the original as possible. There is no doubt in my mind that James Marsters will be the most outstanding actor in this film. Reading his interview really renewed my faith in the movie.

I would get a kick out of that if it ended up being Sabat or the Japanese VA for Shenlong.

And seeing as most everything about the core character has been changed...

The characters, setting, and plot have changed - but it's possible that they can still pull off a half-decent Goku, and make the whole affair light, fun, and exciting it'll be "the core" of Dragon Ball.

They won't, but they theoretically could.

Actually, I think the DBs are used to free him in the movie and he stays old. Though I'm not entirely sure, just assuming from some of the snippets of info we've gotten.

Thankyew, thankyew. I dunno where it's from, though. Some Japanese guy's CG image set is all I know.

Link please? If you have one..

... or they could be used to resurrect an already young Piccolo (for the sake of keeping him for other movies). It'd be pretty funny to see an elderly King Piccolo take on Vegeta and Nappa in some kind of sequel, though :D.

As for Shenron, I agree that it'd be pretty awesome if they had him voiced by either the Japanese or English VA. Honestly, though, I think anyone with a deep voice can pull off his voice. That plus the standard echo effect and you're pretty much set.

I think they might have Goku go and search for the Dragonballs to revive Grandpa Gohan, only to have Piccolo steal them and wish for eternal youth.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I always thought the echoing effect was really stupid and cheesy. This Shenlong actor was always my favorite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89tvDnDAu2Q ( 2:45 to 2:50 ). To me he just sounded the most dragon-ish.

Well, James Marsters signed up for possible sequals so I'm thinking Piccolo Daimao will wish for his youth rather than Mai and her henchmen (that sounds weird) wishing him free.

It has been noted that the makeup for Marsters' Piccolo character is very extensive and elaborate, so I doubt that they would make an entirely new make up design for a character form that could easily be passed over. That and the fact that Marsters has mentioned his makeup a few times but never mentioned two different types of makeup jobs (old Piccolo and youthful Piccolo) makes me think that Fox will only give Piccolo one age throughout the film, which one they will use is the only question to me.

I guess another option would for them to use CGI for the wrinkles and aging on his face, but that seems like it would be pretty expensive for such a non-essential detail.

I think they'll have both Piccolo in the movie, but they're withholding that information for now.

I hope Shenron is that big in the movie. (As opposed to DB Shenron, he is actually kind small by comparison.)

I hate website problems. Had to work more than a normal job. :( :(

Anyway, it's confirmed Shenlong will be in the movie. You know why? "Temple of the Dragon"
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

I'm not sure how that confirms that Shenlong is in the movie. There are dragon temples all over China, but that doesn't mean that there are dragons there.
