Ugh... contrary to popular belief it IS possible to be civil to others on the internet. Not everything has to be war...

I guess you know my usuall question whenever there's a new major release...

Region Codes!

If it's not working for Region 2 players, it should work at least on Region 4, right?

I took an old LG DVD/VHS player from under the dust, and it playes Region 2 & 4 DVDs, but not Region 1.

It'll take me sometime to be able to play it on my Laptop... but hey, at least I'll be able watch it.

Now, we see that the discs overlap eachother... does it mean that the size of the box is smaller than the Japanese one?

That's quite awesome indeed. I suppose it would lead into another question: What about the insert songs, have they been kept in the dub this time around? I believe in this set there should be one; Plays when Kaio is explaining the Saiyans' past to Goku, if I'm not mistaken? I'm not sure about the episode number.

That'd be episode 20.

Hm, depending on the price at a brick and mortar store on the 17th, I may have to snag this. Maybe a black Friday purchase. Wow, a FUNi release I'm actually not ashamed to buy, what a concept. And I just cleaned my bookshelves, so I have room next to the Japanese counterparts ;p

So far, it looks quite nice. The 96kps audio sounds a bit anemic though. I know the soundtrack here isn't insanely complex and can probably be compressed quite a bit without much artifacting, but...448kps (overkill) to 96kps (err...underkill?) seems a bit overboard. It probably sounds fuller simply due to the higher quality of the master it came from, but I wonder how it stands up when compared side-by-side with the Region 2 box.

In any case, I look forward to seeing more. I'll post my opinions once I get my hands on it.

On top of this, there's supposed to be the choir BGM when Piccolo dies. Forgive me for not having the episode number on hand.

I'll get mine tomorrow, but I'm wondering if there is any kind of trailer or insert in it that gives us an idea when the second box comes out?

It was stated earlier on that there's no trailers in order to keep the release as barebones as possible to conserve quality.

I hate to retcon myself, but VLC is to blame I swear! All kidding aside, when booted up in VLC it skips straight to the menu. When played in something like WMP I did get a FUNi trailer for some show. I dunno what it was. I skipped it. Sorry. I might have to check the rest of the discs to see if there is indeed another DBOX trailer...>.>

Also, my camera battery is charging, but I'm in the midst of taking pics of every two pages of the Dragon Book so you all can see what it has to offer. Look forward to that soon!

Alright, here we go. Lets hope this is the last time these caps need to be posted as they should be as close to correct as we (godofchaos) and I could get for right now.

And here's some notes from godofchaos on these screen caps as well:

Just for comparison's sake, I uploaded a few PNGs from the Season 1 set to compare to the DBox shots. One thing that I immediately noticed was how much clearer the lines and paintwork are in the DBox shots. I mean, Piccolo looks damn near out of focus on the third shot!

That's on the list. Uploading the Dragon Book pics ATM in preparation for posting then gonna go back and edit my previous posts with the new scans. Don't worry, I'm hard at work.
