Well, there's nothing in the rules against it (as far as I know) but just keep the images original size and it shouldn't stretch the screen.
(é) Yeah, I'm famous. Super famous. I start things.

Well alright then here it goes (If it gets deleted I understand)
The trailers for movies 1,2 and 3 of the original Dragonball are mostly clips from the TV series and or movie.
The trailer for DBZ movie 1 is also mostly TV show clips and or movie clips.
The trailer for movie 2 plays the Cha-La opening, but with the bad guys for movie 2 in the opening itself...

The trailer for movie 3 opens with the Toriyama robot (thats what I know him by at least) drawing manga...

Movie 4's trailer is mostly just clips from the movie with some random stills of the villians...

Movie 5's trailer...

Movie 6's trailer is in a previous post.
Movie 7's trailer also mostly is made up of movie clips...

Movie 8's trailer is 99% a clip of Goku and Gohan from the Cell games looking around (with stills of Brolly flashing now and then) as if they can feel Brolly's power...

Movie 9's trailer...

Movie 10's trailer...

Movie 11's trailer (Goku get out of the shot your dead)

Movie 12's Trailer...

Movie 13's trailer...

And some DVD menu Animations...

The End.

The Dragon Ball ones are a tad limited. Out of the four, only one had new animation while the last one had a collage of every movie (DB and Z) at the start of the first commercial. Let's start with Dragon Ball movie 3.
The commercial starts off by playing "Makafushigi Adventure" and showing a few scenes of Goku flying alongside Shenlong on Kinto'un (this being from the second TV series opening animation). It then starts with Goku explaianing the plot of the movie, as scenes pan on different characters as he explains.

This particular shot looks like it came from the Dr. Slump TV series, or possibly a movie of Dr. Slump. Either way, they really wanted it to seem like Arale was a major character in the movie..despite her being present for about three minutes or so and only aiding Goku in beating and killing Tao Pai Pai.
The next one comes from the TV ad for Dragon Ball movie 3. It's pretty much two scenes from the movie put together.

Now we move on to Dragon Ball's 10th anniversary movie.
This movie starts off with Goku charging up the Kamehame-Ha and firing it from movie 2 and then goes into a sort of "split-screen" showing off almost every movie (DB movie 1 is missing, while DBZ movie 12 got two pannels). Adult Goku is pretty much thanking everyone for watching all these years.

As for Dragon Ball movies 1 and 2..
Dragon Ball movie 1's theatrical trailer is basically clips from the opening with Goku explaining that Dragon Ball's coming to the big screen. The TV trailer is more like a cut up version of the movie where all the important scenes are spliced together while Goku explains everything that occurs.
Dragon Ball movie 2's theatrical trailer is Goku explaining that another movie is coming while all the scenes are from the first movie. The second trailer is pretty much an explanation of what's to come with shots from the second movie.
The 10th anniversary's TV trailer is actually rather dated looking. No signs of clean up there. All of the scenes are pretty much from the movie and young Goku explains everything to come in the movie.
And there you go. :x

I wouldn't say the animation was on par (obviously it gets progressively better), but it's still a step up from the TV series. I'd say it's on par with the best animated DragonBall episode (whatever you may think that is). I already wrote a commentary for the first movie over on Kanzentai and pointed out that the backgrounds are really what's incredible in these early features. Seriously, I don't know why, but the backgrounds in these early movies are absolutely gorgeous (and a bit more creative than the later DBZ movies). Here's a couple full-size examples of the screenshots I used on Kanzentai, just to give you an idea of the quality of artwork here...JPA82 wrote:I was asking because I've never seen the Dragon Ball movies before, and I was wondering if the animation was on par with the Dragon Ball Z movies.

I'd just like to say, I've finally found one con to these lovely boxes:
I'm trying to get my girlfriend to watch DB, and I'm having to use my few remaining FUNi discs so can understand what is being said ;p

Whoa! You're right. Those backgrounds are beautiful, especially the one with Goku's old house. The scenery is very nice. Thanks for posting those.DBW wrote:I wouldn't say the animation was on par (obviously it gets progressively better), but it's still a step up from the TV series. There will be, soon enough, as I am writing up a very detail oriented comparison.Slickmasterfunk wrote:Hey can anybody post shots from the 10th Anniversary Movie? Since that has really good animation I really want to see what it looks like in this release. A comparative shot with Funi's version would be much appreciated. Thanks!

And so ends my little vacation. I had a lot of free time these past 4 days. In that time I think I may have created the comparison shot to end all comparison shots... maybe not but, Its cool to look at.

Edit: I just want to point out that the bottom left says "Bridge Entertainment" not "Bridqe Entertainment", the picture got cut off.

I gotta say, in these particular pictures he's right, but in my Dragonbox I can definatly tell the difference when it's animated.Deus ex Machina wrote:Maybe they look different while animated, but out of all those still shots Tanooki posted, the two Funimation pics look best.
There is no better combination in the world than Dragonball, Cherry Pepsi, and Cheez-Its. It's a proven fact.
