Well, you could 1) put a bunch of empty DVD cases to fill up the box, or 2) fill in the space with the Vegeta figure that came with the box. Just some thoughts...
Ricochet0082 wrote:All signs point to the singles ending and the entire 291 episodes of Dragon Ball Z will be released into "season" box sets.
So, do you think that the singles that are currently out will soon be out of print? Either way, I hope they use the remastered footage. Nonetheless, I'm gonna buy the first set. Sorry to sound repetitve, but do you think dvdpacific.com is reliable? I mean, it doesn't have a picture, and it's put up at the cheapest price any of us have found so far...

I just hate the eyes on Vegeta on that box. It looks like he's yelling at a fly on his nose, I drew in eye balls. Lookie lookie!

I had to look twice when I first seen it. I thought for a moment he didn't have eyes at all.

I'm waiting until they post the picture of the box set so that I am 100% sure that is what they are selling. You could order it now and if it turns out to be something else, you can always cancel your order. It won't ship until late September.

I’m confident that FUNimation will use the Ultimate Uncut episodes for the first 67 episodes. FUNimation has stated in the past that they want to make the entire series flow together smoothly, so that you can’t tell too much of a difference between seasons. (Sorry, I don't have a source for this)

This isn’t proven yet, but they may release the Ginyu and Freeza arcs redone to a certain extent. I doubt they will redub the episodes but I feel they may reinsert the eye catches and a few other things back into the show. Only time will tell. And who knows, maybe they will finally correct the episode numbers so that they match the Japanese.

I hate the new art that's been displayed for new DBZ merchandise, both Japanese and American. It's so bright, and a little too shiny. Although, most of the time the Japanese covers for new merchandise looks great at times.

Hmm, redubbing the Ginyu saga and Frieza saga isn't a bad idea. If they change the music thought, argh!.

Well, I think that the chances of this happening are somewhat good. If you have comcast ondemand, go to DBZ under Cartoon Network, and you'll find that the copyright for the Freeza Saga has been changed to 2006. Of course, this could just be because its previous copyright was no longer valid...

Really? Did they change it to uncut now too? Because before they were showing the edited version on comcast ondemand.

You know, one could buy two Vegeta Saga box sets, and then sell the dvds seperately on eBay, Amazon or Yahoo, and pay off the prices of both. That may be illegal, though. :?

5 dvds (39 episodes), probably all but the first have eight episodes on them, but then the first disk would have seven episodes and a special feature, like "Goku vs. Vegeta" or something like that. Each dvd, by Funimation's usual standards, are already worth $50, but even if you were only to sell each of the 5 dvds for $20, that would be enough to pay for both box sets (though that's not including shipping charge.) I'm sure there are plenty of people would don't want to buy the entire box set, but just want certain episodes.

5 dvds x $20 = $100 = Cost of 2 Vegeta Saga box sets
OR
5 dvds x $25 = $125
$125 - $100 Cost of 2 Vegeta Saga box sets = $25 Profit

Hmm... in theory, pretty boss... but in reality, I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to "re-package" sets separately...
gotenx wrote:Really? Did they change it to uncut now too? Because before they were showing the edited version on comcast ondemand.
Nah, I'm pretty sure that they're still uncut. Of course, I'm not too sure, since I haven't seen the Freeza/Garlic Jr. Saga in a while, so I wouldn't be able to compare their footage with anything...
That, and I'm pretty sure that CN would never have anything UNCUT on ondemand, unless you consider Adult Swim.

Anyways, don't you think that FUNi and Viz could have "teamed up" to some extent to at least create a better looking boxed set? This one is okay and all, but having some Kanzenban cover images of Raditz, Kaio, and Vegeta would be pretty sweet...

I'm happy that DBZ is finally going to get the boxed-set release that its desperatly needed for years now...I just wish I hadn't spent a fortune buying the single DVD's now. @_@ I wonder if GT will get the same treatment? The series is so short you could probably fit the entire thing in a single box set.

Still uncut? Never going to show them uncut? Now I'm confused.

Why would FUNimation team up with VIZ? FUNimation can go straight to Toei to get new images drawn by Toriyama for the box sets, if the price is reasonable.

Actually, as I predicted earlier, two boxsets (I suggested spliting it where Uub shows up on the battlefield in the Bebi saga).

And, I think that if GT was to get the same treatment, they'd rather re-package Dragonball first.
I also go by "veemonjosh".

I've read all eight pages of this thread, and have got to say I agree with some and then disagree with others. However, instead of quoting and then putting what I agree or disagree with; I'll just try to do it without confusing anyone.

I have become one of the victims who were dumb enough to buy the Vegeta Saga I and II Starter Box Sets, going all the way up to Vol. 09 of the Vegeta Saga II set. However, I figure I'll continue buying the Vegeta Saga II DVD's that are coming out yet, but that might be it. I have all of DragonBall in the DVD Boxed Sets, and all of DragonBall GT, which I'm re-collecting in the Boxed Sets. I have quite a few of the DragonBall Z VHS and DVD's that I started collecting at the end of 1999, and the beginning of 2000. I'm missing maybe two to four Sagas’, but that is it. Now to learn that FUNimation may be releasing all the "Season's" like this, kind of puts a damper on me. I was actually starting to feel good about the fact that I have almost completed this, seeming to be, never ending project, just to find out, if I had waited, I could've got all of it at a much cheaper price.

Others feel cheated or whatever, but I don't feel so much this way. Seeing as it was my choice to get everything once it came out. However, I will probably start collecting these "Season's" just to know I have a complete set. Plus as others have stated it saves a ton of space. Heck, I have all of DragonBall in a little stand on top of my TV, whereas my DragonBall Z Collection takes up about five to six shelves, seeing as I've tried to make a transition from my VHS's to DVD's, which has almost been completed.

As some have speculated, they are saying all of DragonBall Z will be re-released in this format, if that is so, then I will either, one; finish off my original collection, yet buy these as well, or two; sell what I have to eBayers, who will buy things for a ridiculous price at times, and then buy these "Season's". Either way, I feel as if I come out ahead.

I too am hoping these re-re-releases may be the re-mastered Dragon Box Footage, but I highly doubt it. My dream "DragonBall Z Boxed Sets" would follow the following format:

* Have the re-mastered Dragon Box Footage.
* Come out the same way the DragonBall Boxed Set's/Saga's were released.
* Have both the English/Japanese versions.
* Come out at the $39.95 price.

If they had that, I'd be about the happiest man in the world. Sure we'd have some little Saga's with seven episodes, Captain Ginyu and Garlic Junior Saga's, but I would still buy them. However, maybe make those two Sagas’ not so pricey.

Oh well, you guys now know where I stand on this, and who knows my feelings may change, and they might not. I'm banking on they will.

Were eye-catchers included in Funimation's previous DVD releases? I really hope they aren't in this new box set. They may work when the show is on TV, but on DVD they just needlessly interupt the flow to announce non-existant commercials.

When you pluralize something, you don't add an apostrophe.

Wow. That's so amazingly different than what we're used to hearing.

And for the record, there's *far* too much speculation going on right now. Be sure to wait for additional information before you make any purchase decisions, theories on future releases, etc.

Agreed. Eye cathes would be fine in an image gallery or something. But leave them out of the episode. I want to see the show from start to end without interuptions please!

One thing I'm looking forward to is just making a day out of watching this thing once it comes out. It's been almost painful waiting two months for just an hours worth of DBZ, with the UUE. You watch the DVD and then it's like... K, two more months until the next episodes! Whoohoo!

When Kuririn and Gohan collected all seven of the Namekian Dragon Balls, Kuririn tries to bring forth the Dragon Ball by saying the Earth summons. If you watch this scene on FUNimation's DVD he says it once and then abruptly says it all over again. This wasn't done in typical action scenes where they replay the same image three different ways. This is where the eye catch is supposed to be. When watching the show and seeing such things, it momentarily takes me out of the show, going "What the?"

The scene I am referring to takes place during episode 72, "Come Forth, Super Shen Long!! Grant Me My Wish", on the Captain Ginyu - Double Cross DVD.
