Oops, musta missed the part with you picking it up... >_<;;
Skype chat? Sure, I'll be on. I'm about to have dinner, but I'll be back on in about an hour, if that's okay with you guys?
I'll need Kirb's Skype ID (via PM, per favore), though.

Sure. He's said he'll be on all day, so I think that's okay (and I shouldn't have any problems myself unless I get kidnapped by someone lonely... >_>; ).SSj Kaboom wrote:Oops, musta missed the part with you picking it up... >_<;;

Sending you his Skype ID... now!

As I've said, I really don't feel up to using Skype in the manner you're suggesting. I feel it'll rush me too much, put too much pressure on me as I'm doing my lines with everyone else, and just not allow me to put my best into this unlike doing it alone can (not to mention Skype can really lag the computer for me). Don't take this personally or anything, it's just how I prefer and choose to record for this so you guys can get my best for this project. After I've submitted my work, if you wish me to re-record certain things, you're free to tell me how you'd like them to be redone and I'll do that. I hope I'm being clear on the matter and making sense, not everything in this project is gonna be done as ya' envision, Kaboom; the VA replacements have already seen to that.SSj Kaboom wrote:I had envisioned using Skype for recording and voice coaching conferences, as it centers around sound. I think we should. It's fairly fast and easy to download, so why doesn't everyone grab it? (Ignore the stuff about price; that's only for the option of using it like an actual phone, which I doubt any or most of us will or would)
I'll give the Audacity program a go once I have my new mic.SSj Kaboom wrote:New microphone sounds good, Conan. However, I'm afraid that anything that just comes with Windows isn't likely to yeild very high-quality results. I've suggested Audacity several times in the past. Why not see if you can't download that and give it a try? Acid just mentioned something called Goldwave, too... I'm gonna look into that one.

Have Desiré and Acid expressed interest in the roles of Lord Kaio and Shenlong? (This question's for Kaboom)
Looking forward to hearing your [edit]voice samples[/edit], Conan. The barbarian.
Wait... haven't I used that joke before?

What, now I have to audition for the roles I already got (Yamcha and Oozaru)? >_>;Steven Perry wrote:Looking forward to hearing your auditions, Conan. The barbarian.![]()
Or if you're talking about Shenlong and Kaio, I'm not bothering. The two roles I have, not to mention the lung killing Oozaru, are enough for me.

Blurgh! Haven't touched it in a few days, Trying to get it looking more like the style of the DVD-mockup. I envision keeping it almost the same, just stylistic touches. Either way, it's the last thing we should worry about.Steven Perry wrote:And also, what became of the main poster? Desiré, I thought you were working on it...?

I'd love to do a Kaio or Shenlong, I'm just not sure if I've got the pipes for it or not (though Shenlong could be easy if we used some reverb and echo...).Steven Perry wrote:Have Desiré and Acid expressed interest in the roles of Lord Kaio and Shenlong? (This question's for Kaboom)
Anyway, I'll try and get some lines for each done soon (tonight/tomorrow), I'm just a little strapped for time

I agree, using Skype is a great idea. Voice acting needs coaching and direction and using Skype would mean being able to have multiple people hearing the linework at once and giving instant feed back. Of course, the actual recording would have to be done in another program (Skype's a bitch to record, IIRC) but using Skype saves us the hassle of recording a few lines, upload, download, review, give feedback, repeat...SSj Kaboom wrote:I had envisioned using Skype for recording and voice coaching conferences, as it centers around sound. Don't forget, you can also give ACID XPress a go if you take a spin with Audacity and find you don't really like it. Better than Sound Recorder, AND it can save files in .wav format (actually, it does it automatically as you record; you just have to find which folder it saves the files to and identify the ones you like [they're saved with numbers in the filenames]).Conan the SSJ wrote:As I've said, I really don't feel up to using Skype in the manner you're suggesting. Well, Conan, at the moment we're just sticking to voice-coaching with Skype (we just tried it last night with Kirbopher and it seemed to go pretty well). It's not very good with actual recording, just voice conferencing. I don't think it'll ever be as you seem to imagine it, with everybody playing characters in the movie signing on and conferencing simultaneously for a massive recording session. For one, it's highly impractical (I mean, we have people from as far away as Britain and Australia playing roles--how are we supposed to get EVERYBODY together all at once given time differences?), and for two, given what went on on Skype with Kirbopher last night... a lot of the time spent conferencing wouldn't even have us actually recording. And like I said, Skype doesn't do well for recording; we'd have to have all of our different recording programs up along with Skype, and besides any possible lagging from anyone's computers, it'd be rather difficult to make sure everybody was recording or not recording at the same time (like herding cats, maybe?). Not to mention, some people's mics tend to pick up absolutely EVERYTHING available to record, including the other people they're conferencing with. So no, we're definitely not going to try actually recording while running Skype. >_>
Now, what we DO want to do with Skype is get everybody doing any VAing on there so Kaboom and I can do some initial coaching with them. Not everyone has to be on Skype at once; in fact, if you want, we can just hold the conference with you, Kaboom, and I to minimize pressure/distraction. It's okay if you're not able to do your very best with a few initial lines, or if it takes you some time to get settled and ready to say them; we're not trying to rush you or anything, we're just trying to see what you're doing with the lines currently so we can give feedback (and I mean, you've been practicing, so it shouldn't be too hard to get up and going). It would be a lot faster and easier to use live conferencing as opposed to email for this part, at least initially; that way, if we want to correct you on how you say a certain line, etc., we can just say it like we want it to be read, and you'll be able to understand what we mean with it better. It's a bit hard to duplicate that with text. I mean, sure, we can just record ourselves saying the line and then send it to you in email, but there's more time involved and it makes for less room for stuff like "Well, how about I do it like this... ?" <_<;
It doesn't even have to all be done in the initial session; if you want further direction, you can just ask for us to have another conference with you later, or we CAN do some correspondence for this via email as well (just not ALL of it that way). If you really are against using Skype for us to direct you, or if your problems with it lagging are bad enough to make it inconvenient to use, then I guess we could do your voice-directing via email. It'd just take longer. :/
We may have to stick with email for most of your voice-directing concerning your Oozaru role, anyway. I don't think Kaboom or I can come up with a proper, on-the-spot, full-fledged animalistic roar for you to use as a reference... I know I haven't been practicing screaming like a real dinosaur... >_>;
....
... Yes. Concerning the conference with Kirbopher... something came up that Kaboom and I think is important for everybody to know... and is maybe a bit vexing to hear. So in advance, apologies...
*coughs nervously, picks up readied letter with shaky hands, gulps, and reads*
While we were discussing with Kirb about how to make his Tenshinhan and Tullece voices sound different from each other, Kirb mentioned that it might be a better idea if we gave the role of Tenshinhan to someone else, so he wouldn't have to worry about making them sound different and could just focus on delivering his lines as Tullece. Since he showed us how differentiating the voices would end up sounding, Kaboom and I agreed with the idea...
This is the potentially very irking part. Kirb's suggestion for the new Tenshinhan was for a person who, as far as I know, isn't a member on this forum. His name is Marc Swint (he goes by Zelahn), and he does a lot of work for amateur voice-over. We got him into the conference, got him to voice a few lines for Tenshinhan, and decided we'd get him to play the part.
Now... I know that Conan, Future_Trunks, and Rick all tried out for Tenshinhan when we held the first of the auditions, and I also know that, at the mention of someone from the VAA possibly coming in to audition for Bulma, a few people got a bit upset. I'm very sorry; we didn't consider the rest of the people who had auditioned for Tenshinhan when we gave Zelahn the part... and we should have. I don't know why we didn't... >_<; We didn't think it through.
Uhm... that's not to say that Zelahn wouldn't work well with the role by any means. Kirb's not the only one who knows him and what he can do; I've talked to him a fair number of times myself, and I've heard a few of his voice demos. He's actually very good, and he's a cool guy; if you all are willing to let him in on the project, I know he'll do a great job with Tenshinhan's lines. I know he's not a member of the forum, and that this is really supposed to be a forum project, but... if you'll allow it this once...
Uhm. Since I know that some of you guys will be more than a little disgruntled at this change, you're more than welcome to email or PM Kaboom and me about it, and if you wish, you can request me for more information about Zelahn and a few of his voice demos/samples so you can see what he's like. And if worse comes to worst, I'll ask him to register on the forum so you guys can meet/talk with him a bit and so you don't have to fuss about part of the project being made off-forum. >_<
So there's the update. Would this be okay... ? I mean, if you guys are unhappy about this at all, well, you know how to let us know.
Don't kill us, please. ;_;

This is a project that started in the forum, yes, but it's brown well beyond the limits here. I see no reason to keep others out of the project simply because they aren't a member here.
"Hey you're really good!"
"Thanks, can I be in your project?"
"Oh. No. Definitely not."

Noone can make an argument for keeping talented people from joining the project.
--In other news. I'm fucking tired, so sleep now, lines tomorrow.

Ahh... Oh God, I'm so glad someone here is okay with what we did. The others' unvoiced responses still have me feeling like this, though. @_@;
Oy vey. I guess we'll just see over the next few days... ._.;
Anyways. Steven, two things:
1. Oozaru drawing is in-progress; sorry I haven't shown you the sketches so far yet. I'll get them to you via PM to look at once I get them scanned.
2. Your latest list of names is still missing three people: Rick, Swift, and Taku128. Considering that all three of them have voice roles, you may want to put them on there (I believe you had Rick's last name before, so at least you don't have to ask him for it). If everyone's okay with us letting Zelahn in on the project, as well, you've already got his name to put up from my previous post. And also... since Bardock the Mexican is doing the Spanish translation for us to use for subtitles, shouldn't we ask for his name, too? o-O;
... Aaaand I think that's about it for now. If everyone's okay with us using Skype for the voice direction and coaching (please get back to us on that, Conan), be sure to, if you haven't already, get the program and give us your Skype usernames so we can get in contact with you on there. (PMs will do nicely for this.)

Yeah, I'm cool with using it for coaching purposes, no prob. I was just worried Kaboom wanted us to actually record our lines on there, thank goodness that's not the case. No worries, I indeed do have Skype and look forward to talking with you and Kaboom on how our voices will be mixed for the Oozaru transformation.KinoFourpaws wrote:... I think I owe all of you at least an update (as worthless as it is and will be) of what I have been doing on this project. Everybody by now knows that I am doing the subtitles in Spanish. If you don't then maybe you might want to sober up and read everything up to this point. On with the update...
I have slacked off about one day of work on the project because of real life intrusion on my working on said project. I have a job where I have to work occasionaly more hours (all for the glorious cash, I assure you) and this means one thing. Whoever handles the timeframe and schedule might have to move the finish date forward one day. That is all and have a nice day.
PS: Going from English to Spanish is sort of hard when you are doing it on such a large scale as this. Especially irratating is the fact that there are some places where the intent of a certain phrase (or the context, shall we say) was a little hard to understand. From even simple things like Bulma's "Come on guys" was translated in a way that wouldn't imply that she was a lesbian, yet seemed strange for a woman to say how she said it. EVEN a simple "vamanos muchachos" was a bit weird.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while. I'm a bit of a lurker if you haven't noticed. ^^; Anyway, if you need my name for the poster, it's Shanen Cross (Shanen pronounced with a long 'a' by the way, as in Shane, not as in Shannon
).
Anyway, I might try and to record some Kuririn lines, but I think using Skype for coaching is a really great idea. Just name a time for some of us to gather on it and I'll try to be there.
As for Shenlong/Kaiô, I can give Shenlong a shot, but I'd definitely have to alter the pitch. I'll try and get some examples up soon.
(And by the way, great job on the Goku lines, Omegacwa. Your voice fits the character really well I think, and the sound qualities good. Keep up the nice work.)

If there's ever a scheduled Skype meeting of some sort; I'll probably download the program onto my laptop instead of the main computer (as the one I'm typing on is more a family computer whereas I can plunk any program I want onto my laptop).
I know I said I was gonna do the samples friday/saturday but I was unable to have time where I was the only one in the house to do so; BUT I should be able to do the samples this afternoon. :3
Oh, and 900th post YAY! X3
