Waah~! I'm reading over the spanish translation right now.
I wasn't able to the other day due to situations beyond my control.

Also, I'm ready to record whenever anyone else is.
On hiatus.

Why hasn't anyone recorded much? Why are we procrastinating? It's gonna be our one year anniversary soon. GET MOVING!
Honestly, I lost enthusiasm. It's been a bitch and a half to get working. It'd be useless to get into everything I've encountered, but I was really spending days at a time on this thing. So I just gave it a rest. And then school hit, making that my top priority. I think a lot of people can say the same for their respective duties on this project. Doesn't mean it's not gonna happen; just means we need to get back into it, and that things might be running a little bit slower than we were used to over the summer.

I mean, the way it's going now seems a bit chaotic. The Project Manager doesn't have a computer, Steven's creating chapters that don't exist yet and spelling people's names wrong (Guiney), Desiré's skipping work to record voice samples of all things, and people in general are just kind of frantic to get everything done.

Yeah, it's been a long way coming, but really, there's no need to rush. While I think we would all benefit from finite deadlines (assuming people met them), the reality is it's hard to coordinate this many people all at once. Let's work with the flow rather than fight it.

Yeah. Did lots of stuff today, but I'm not happy with any of it (except the Bubbles stuff - that was fun). I just don't have the voice for either Kaio or Shenlong. Well, I can do a nice Shenlong voice if a change the pitch and ad some echo and over lay to it - but at that point anyone could do it. I'll do a few more and throw them up for tomorrow to see what you all think, but I don't think I fit either character.

You saying that makes me think of my Dad telling us girls that getting us to do anything was like herding cats. Seems like it's a bit like that here, too.

Sorry for the non-updation, guys; I've been distracted by things I shouldn't've been distracted by, and I've been working with a very haphazard body clock which finally came back to hit me in the face. I was knocked out almost all day today... :( Anyways, I'll have more stuff for all you guys next post. Steven, prod me with a red-hot poker if I don't at least have something to show you in regards to the poster in the next day or two... and I'm working on that huge honking email for everybody. Also messing with that Shenlong thing I mentioned I did with my sister about a week ago... even though I'm pretty sure it won't be used, I'm hoping it a least gets a few laughs and WTFs from you people. :P I haven't gotten to messing with the script revisions, though, at least not beyond the minor things... sorry... ;_;

So yeah... next post I will have stuff. Sorry for dragging along this week, guys. D:

(Don't tempt me to post again before that post, by the way, or I'll be made a liar. Again. D: )

By the way, Desiré... even if you don't really think you pulled it off well, please show us what you've got for Kaio-sama and Shenlong anyway. Maker didn't even show us what he tried to do with Kaio before he told us he couldn't do it... :( So if it's possible, let Kaboom and me take a look and put in our opinions first before you say you can't do it. While I'm sure we could get a few people to give them a try if I mention it in the email, like Kaboom said, we can't really keep holding auditions (At least not if we want to get things up and going as quickly as possible... but like Acid said, we really shouldn't be rushing, especially with school going again, so if we have to take things a little slower... o-o? ).
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Alright, here I am again, now with some Shenlong stuff to show. Sorry, I've been busy getting back into school and all, but now that it's the weekend I've got some stuff done.

The following zip contains two files: a Shenlong of mine with the pitch lowered by 10% with Audacity, and a regularly-pitched version. The latter, as I expected, is completely unusable, but I've put it in there in case anyone wants to experiment with different levels of pitch alteration.

I wish I didn't have to alter it like this, but my voice just won't go that deep. ^^; Thought I might see what you guys think of it anyway, so here it is: http://www.geocities.com/shanencross/Sw ... gfiles.zip

As for Kaio, I experimented a bit, but... It's just not going to work. Not deep sounding enough at all, and pitch altering sounds completely unnatural with someone like Kaio.

I'd like to make some practice Kuririn samples too, but I'm starting to catch a bit of a sore throat, so I can't guarantee I'll be able too. If its not too bad, I hope to record some by tomorrow.

I still think we should try to schedule some Skype conferences (at least once Kaboom's motherboard problems are sorted out) for the VAs who'd like to. It'd be good for us to get as much practice and advice as possible, I think, before getting the KERVG and recording final lines.

SEAN'S COMPUTER UPDATE

It's fixed! Huzzah! Back to work on stuff for me! Though I still don't haven't gotten an external hard drive. I kinda need it both for this stuff as well as the AMV I'm working on, and not to mention to soothe my newfound paranoia when it comes to backing up data, so I really need to pick it up soon...

Well, anyway, let's see what's been going on in my 'absence.'

So so far, we've gotten voice samples from Chuquita and omegacw for Bulma and Goku, respectively. Both sounding good, though Chuquita, I'm curious as to what you're using to record in terms of a mic and software. Try to get some stuff in please, the rest of yous guys. I'll try to make time to message everyone about it.

The KEVRG....... oy vey. What a hassle this has turned out to be for all parties.

Acid, if it's truly giving you that much trouble, I think we could stand to skip out on it for now and just start recording. If something doesn't quite fit later, then we can always rerecord accordingly; it's not that hard. We really need to keep things moving, even if at a slower pace. If you manage to figure the subtitles system out, then at least we'll still have it for the DVD later. What do you think?

Who are we still missing voices for? Just King Kai and Shenlong? If nobody else gets anything in for Shenlong, I guess it will go to Swift. It's not a hard voice, after all; most of it is all a matter of artificially adjusting the pitch and such afterwards. Otherwise, we still need a King Kai, right?

It still needs a lot of acting though. Some of the lines do sound weird (Fabi well....=p), and hopefully I can figure out how to make it actually sound like Shenlong and not like someone with a really deepish voice =p

Been at it too long to call it quits now. Gimme 'til the weekend. I'll have it done by Sunday at the latest. In the meantime, using peoples' DVDs is fine; turns out the audio speed is not affected by the pull-down method as I previously thought. However, I'd still like us to be using the D.Box derivatives to minimize any potential re-do's. The difference, however, is minimal.

I still want to "audition" for both of these (c'mon... I've been through 2 characters already—give me a voice!); since they're less intensive than the VRG I'll try and squeeze them in during the week.

Thank you all for your continued patience.

Yeah, I still haven't put up my Kaio and Shenlong auditions. I'm just pissed at how terrible they are. I will put some up tomorrow, though. But bear in mind, they will be terrible :P

Looks nice so far, Stevey, and I...

Hold on guys, and guess what? My laptop's acting up again. It was working perfectly fine all afternoon yesterday after the repairs, but now it's not booting. Not getting anything but the power light coming on for a few seconds. No boot noises, no other lights, nothing. Dell says they have to replace the motherboard......... again........

Why do I get the feeling that the Kaboom is getting screwed over?
Um, maybe you should try for a second opinion? Like, your local college IT (who tried to fix my computer and thus gave me IE7, which is not my friend. -.-)

The Kaboom did post on Dell's forums, to try to get an opinion from other customers. I'll try other sources, though I'm not sure what or where...

I think I'm just really unlucky. :?

That audio I put up a while back was done via the ridiculous notion that I could record using my videocamera's audio recording program. ^^;

I've since downloaded audacity and pulled out my nicer, newer mic and will be using that from now on.

If you want me to test any lines using the new mic and audacity, please tell me.

I downloaded a script and gave Kaio a try. I rewrote some of the lines to flow better. My mic and recording program are just what I had lying around, but it should give you an idea of my voice. All criticisms and suggestions accepted, naturally.

Holy shit. Your voice is great, but it's totally not suited for King Kai. You sound more like...

Like...

Heh, thanks. I can do a pretty good Vegeta. I was trying to do something deep and respectable like Kaio's japanese voice, but my voice probably isn't mature enough yet. However, if you guys want me to try something like Funi's first dub, I can always record while gargling water, LOL.
