Goku is the strongest at the end of the story.. surpassed by Gohan twice... but Goku is clearly the strongest.. even Vegeta seems to have surpassed Gohan in the end...Goku and Vegeta strongest at the end.
No. There is absolutely no indication at the EoZ that Goku has come anywhere near Gohan, and several indications that he's barley stronger than he was in the Buu Saga, where he was many times weaker than Gohan. Vegeta and Goku are both still absolute crap to Gohan and Gotenks.
Vegeta didn't get beat down constantly?

He got his ass kicked THREE times in the Namek saga.
Gohan got beaten up twice (Recoome and Freeza), Krillin twice (Recoome and Freeza), Goku twice (Vegeta and Freeza). He got his ass kicked one more time than anyone else (Zarbon, Recoome, and Freeza) in return for getting way more victories than anyone else. Big whoop.
Then twice again Cell
So did Goku, Piccolo, Trunks, Yamcha, Tenshinhan...
Then yes twice again in Buu arc.
So did Gohan, Mr. Buu...
I'll compare it to Goku in his Z portion.. I know he is main character so it will be a little lop sided but.

2 in Saiyan

0 in Namek
He got beaten up after Ginyu body switched him and got absolutely fodderized by Freeza before going Super Saiyan. So, 2.
1 in Cell (Because of heart virus)
He got his ass kicked by 19 and Cell Junior, and lost to Cell, only lasting long at all because Cell was toying. So, 2.5.
0 in Buu
Lost to Pure Buu, ended up a bruised and bloody mess while Buu laughed at him. Got knocked out by Vegeta. Also got beaten up by Super Buu three times in filler (Vegeta only got beaten up twice in comparison).
Gohan..

1 in Namek
2. Got beaten up by Freeza and his neck broken by Recoome.
0 in Cell
Got beaten up by Cell.
2 in Buu (questionable)
One-shotted by Fat Buu and brutally beaten down by Buutenks.
Piccolo:

1 in Saiyan
Get's stomped by Raditz and one-shotted twice by Nappa. 2.
1 in Namek
He gets beaten up twice by two different forms of Freeza. 2.
0 in Cell
Stomped by 17, stomped by Cell, beaten to a pulp by a Cell Junior. 3.
0 in Buu (but didn't really fight)
He did get eaten...

Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. Episode of Bardock. Totally ruined the character for me, and was very unfulfilling and short.

Hmm..what else..I am disappointed what was done with Gohan at the end of the Cell saga and Buu saga. First he wants to get stronger and fight so he can protect everyone, angry with himself that he has always been a letdown in the past and when he finally gets his chance to prove himself against Cell, he drops the ball entirely for a pacifist act. And THEN, we get him in Mystic Form, ready and willing to obliterate Buu (not to mention handing the Bubblegum wad his elastic pink ass) only to drop a earring and get absorbed so Vegito could make his debut.

I'm disappointed with the wasted potential in Goten and Trunks. We are led to believe that they could have become the strongest warriors in all of DBZ if they trained seriously and stuck with it. We even have proof, seeing as they achieved and mastered SSJ before they were even 10 (I think thats the right age range). If they were serious they could have easily achieved SSJ2 if not SSJ3 by the end of Z.

Ill come clean and just say it. I think Mr. Satan is the worst thing to ever happen to Dragon Ball. Yes I know he can have some good comedy and he has a vital role in the plot but..every time I see him on the screen, I just start chanting "Die..die..please die!" There is just nothing about him I like at all.

Mr Satan is the best. Love the comedy.
Worst is the bad animation in the Z series and Gt no real fighting scene's only ki blast and 100times kamehameha and weak looking enemies.
In Gt the others cast are just background characters they have no real role.
Gt Sagas are short because of the first episodes taking a adventure tour like DB of that Gt lost popularity and shorten its life.

I was disappointed that the Z-portion of the series was so remarkably bad compared to the DB-portion.

Vegeta didn't lose to the sombrero wearing cyborg. He had some trouble, but he was ultimately victorious. My disappointment in that film was that after getting the crap kicked out of him, and taking a vicious punch to the nards, Goku didn't get much in the way of revenge. Yes, he did win, but I wish he got more than a 1 or 2 hit win.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Dragon Ball Z when compared to the original Dragon Ball.
Kai's Cell Saga which was not half as much of an improvement as Kai's Namek Saga.
Clinkenbeard's Eighteen
Movie 10
GT Shadow Dragons Arc

Where have I heard this one before? :P

In all honesty, I'm not too big on the 'Pilaf' through to 'Baba' stuff. I just feel like those episodes don't have any replay value for me. Very enjoyable in the Manga, though. 'Tenshinhan' through to 'Piccolo', however. Absolutely amazing, no matter how you view it, so I can see why you'd be disappointed coming off of that.

Goku is clearly leagues ahead of Gohan at the end of Battle of Gods... Vegeta is debatable but likely too... by extension they are at the end of Z.

Nobody got their ass kicked the hardest than Vegeta.. in a constant beatdown like in his fights.

Goku was able to hold his own own against Cell.. yes he was weaker but still held his own unlike Vegeta who just got the crap kicked out of him from the start... and I don't remember Goku getting his ass kicked against Buu... he was doing very good and he wasn't even going 100%.

At Freeza everyone got their glory against him... everyone except Vegeta...

Gohan was tortured very briefly against him but was able to fight him and actually hurt him...what two times?

Piccolo was stronger than his second form and even got a hit in on 4th form (a cheap hit but a hit at least.)

Krillin even got to slice off his tail.

Just saying for Vegeta.. someone who is supposed to be Goku's final ultimate rival and second strongest you wouldn't really think it by reading/watching.

The hell does Battle of the Gods have to do with anything? It's not part of the manga. Anyway, no; Goku's only greater with the god form, and Vegeta isn't greater at all.
Nobody got their ass kicked the hardest than Vegeta.. in a constant beatdown like in his fights.
Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Krillin.
Goku was able to hold his own own against Cell.. yes he was weaker but still held his own unlike Vegeta who just got the crap kicked out of him from the start... and I don't remember Goku getting his ass kicked against Buu... he was doing very good and he wasn't even going 100%.
He still lost, and was then beaten down by a Cell Jr.

They fought evenly for a bit, but then it became apparent that Goku was injured and bloodied while Buu wasn't injured at all. Then he dropped out of SS3. And he was going 100% right from the start, I don't get where you think he wasn't.
At Freeza everyone got their glory against him... everyone except Vegeta...
Everyone got beaten up by him, too. And Vegeta at least got to tie his first form.
Gohan was tortured very briefly against him but was able to fight him and actually hurt him...what two times?
His hits did basically nothing, and Freeza stomped him.
Piccolo was stronger than his second form and even got a hit in on 4th form (a cheap hit but a hit at least.)
Yes, but he was also the victim of long extended beatdowns from his 3rd and 4th forms.
Krillin even got to slice off his tail.
Yes, but he was tortured by his 2nd form and painfully killed by his 4th form.
Just saying for Vegeta.. someone who is supposed to be Goku's final ultimate rival and second strongest you wouldn't really think it by reading/watching.
Well no wonder you don't think that: he's not the second strongest. Not even close. Neither is Goku. Gohan, Gotenks, Buu, and Vegetto are the strongest.

(Note: The way RandomGuy does it makes sense, because he's at least segmenting based on subject and clipping out the various prior quotes)

But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Oh, jeez. I know we're not meant to disparage other communities but what is wrong with that dude and his viewers. The sensationalist titles and poorly researched information are in complete abundance and barely any of his followers even question it.

This all just relates back to my biggest DB-related disappointment - the general fanbase. I have never seen a fanbase so divided and unaware. Naruto, One Piece and any other huge fanbase does not have a community as horrendous as this one. I don't even know who to blame for it.

Is it Kai bringing in thousands of younger fans who have no bearing on what's reliable and what isn't? Is it a bunch of nostalgic fans coming back into franchise with zero awareness or does this show and its general simplicity just attract a bunch of meatheads?

I don't understand it. It shouldn't bother me but christ, it makes me ashamed to admit I'm part of the fandom.

Ugh, the wrong people are making money from their YouTube videos. The wrong people are making money on the internet, in general.

I've only seen one of his videos, but it was enough.

On the day after BOG came out, he put up a "review" of the film, claiming that he'd seen a bootleg copy when he clearly hadn't. Because most English-speaking fans wouldn't see the film until September, he took advantage of this and made up a summary of the film that combined previous pieces of information as well as fan speculation and his own imagination. Needless to say, it drew in a ton of views, people were so excited to hear any "information" about the new film. They were excited and eating that video up with a spoon. Fast-forward to the movie's home release and the video is taken down. Doesn't matter, because he's already made his fair share of $$$ from it.
