This set indeed looks very cool. I have a question. Was there an action figure included like the others, or did the scouters replace it?

I just became a member just so I can ask a question or two. Is the Dragon Box Movies set really worth it? I mean according to most sites I've been to it it's price is over $350. How can people afford that? I'm guessing they have jobs but that's still a lot of money. My mother wouldn't even order that for me if I had the money. She would say it's a waste of money. I love DBZ but that's a lot of money. And the Dragon Box sets for all the series are like twice that. Damn that's a lot. When I look at some of the images posted, I am stunned though. The quality is very good. Would it be worth it to buy the movie box the next time I have $350?

DragonBox Z Vol. 1 - Goku figure
DragonBox Z Vol. 2 - Piccolo figure
DragonBox (DB) - Diarama of Tenkaichi Budokai
DragonBox (GT) - Dragon Radar remote
DragonBox The Movies - 2x Scouter walkie-talkies

If you can find it for $350, and don't mind the lack of subtitles and have a region free player, go for it. If any of the above don't jive...pass on it.

For the casual Dragonball fan of course it's not worth it. If you question the price and are debating if its a waste of money (if you can afford it or not) your probley a casual fan. People who have been in love with this show since before FUNimation had its hands on it then maybe this is for you because you can appreciate its contents a lot more.

Well said man. I've been a fan of the series for a long time now, and if I had the money, I'd buy a Dragon Box right now. The people who own them should feel very lucky to be able to watch the series in it's original glory, when it actually looked like anime, and before FUNimation got a hold of it and turned it into a cartoon. :P So, I myself think the price is very much worth it. I've seen every episode so many times that having no english subtitles doesn't bother me one bit, because I already know what's going on.

Sure, why not?

And, while I'm at it (and since they're on the shelf directly below), here's the Goku and Piccolo figures in one configuration with the entire Kanzenban set:

Depends on your priorities and how much time it takes you to make/acquire $350, (and I also guess whether or not your mother will let you buy the box set. ^^; )

I'd definately buy it, but I'm not sure whether or not my DVD player is compatible with the Asian format of disks. I know this was addressed in a podcast, but I'm still confused. Do you need an adaptor of sorts to play the disks (like with the Japanese versions of Playstation games on my North American Playstation)?

If I can determine the disks are compatible with my DVD player (and I can still afford Go Camp if I buy the box set), then I'm buying. :P
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

If you have a PS2 and want to use it as your DVD player, you can use an Action Replay and play region 2 discs that way. Otherwise, I'd talk to the people on Animeondvd.com about a new region-free player (I use an Oppo OPDV971H).

Doing a little research, I also found that DVD Region X can allow you to play Region 2 DVDs on your PS2. But of course, it voids your warranty.

I'm also not sure if it works on either an old style PS2 or the new model "slim" PS2s.

I'm actually planning to go this DVD Region X route, because I don't want to spend $200 on a Region 2 DVD player, when I could be using that precious cash on the Dragon Box.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Allow me to say that MajinVejitaXV officially sucks for having such an awesome setup. XD

Here's my collection of stuff from the Dragon Ball GT and Movies Dragon Boxes (along with a few figurines I set up along).

On the topic at hand, I took four screens for both versions of Dragon Ball movie 2 (FUNimation and Dragon Box) and did side by side comparisons. Since they'd obviously be rather big and would stretch the board, I'll simply redirect to links. :P

The most noticable thing is how badly washed out the colors appear on FUNi's disc. It's also incredibly dark, making it near imposible to make out Pu'er's face as he's transformed into the monster head on Yamcha's body. Also notice how Goku's Kamehame-Ha is muuuuch better looking on the Dragon Box and no longer has that "hair" on the film. Plus the energy attack is brighter and looks more like an effect as opposed to a drawing. The scenery in the final scene looks a lot more lush than FUNi's disc shows it.

I'll get around to doing some screens from the 10th anniversary movie as well as Z movie 10.

No it doesn't O_o;

The warranty is only voided if your console is damaged by neglect or if you break the seal on the back of the console near the power input (on the older PS2's at least, I won't touch the slim ones).

Who gave you that crazy idea?

I'm sorry, I must've read it on one of the (unofficial) sites I was researching. I was looking up both Action Replay and DVD Region X to see which one made it easier to play R2 DVDs, and I must've come across some misinformation. My bad.

Anyway, I plan on getting a DVD Region X for my old-model US PS2 in a couple weeks. Because, damn it, I'm going to watch some R2 Dragon Ball goodness! :D
