So, what's everyone's thoughts on the animation now? I know people were feeling pretty negative after the first trailer but, as expected, it was proven to be largely unfinished in parts. This most recent promo gives us another glimpse at some of the CGI being used in this film and while it looks cheap, I gotta say, everything else is looking pretty slick.

EDIT: Thought I'd cheekily repost this question I posed a few pages back. It got caught up in other stuff so I thought I'd re-ask. :P

Part of me is thinking that he's simply in there as fan-service, but it seems interesting that they kept his appearance in the film under wraps for so long. What are the chances that he'll be an integral part of the story?

Resurrection F is the only half decent title this movie has had, the rest sound like the name of a random episode or some B movie.
um no Resurrection F sounds stupid.

Why leave out the 'of"? So dumb.
So to not make it sound like a naff B movie. Resurrection of Freeza.....for a theatrical movie title? Terrible.

IMO the animation looks amazing and very fluid.

Is that kaioken?! Or just Goku base form with SSJ GOD absorbed?

My guess is the latter. I don't think it makes much sense for him to use Kaio-ken at this point. If Super Saiyan does him no favors, then Kaio-ken certainly isn't the alternative either.

I don't think the animation is anything special. At least now it looks like there are some actual in-between drawings being used occasionally.

I'm actually pretty impartial to the name, but using this logic do you think "Battle of Gods" should have been "God Battle"?

You could argue that Battle of Gods should have been Battle of THE Gods, right?

Battle of Gods was a good title that had a nice ring and punch to it.

"Resurrection/Revival/Revenge/Return of *insert character*" however isn't just a ten a penny cliche title but one that sounds like it belongs to a TV movie.

It's like how you had the animated Batman movie Mask of Phantasm which was a cool name and then there was Return of the Joker which wasn't.

Resurrection F is snappier.

They didn't really "leave it out"; it's not remotely uncommon for Japanese titles/names/phrase/etc of the "Y no X" pattern to be translated into English in ways that don't feature "of". So Gojira no Gyakushuu becomes "Godzilla Raids Again" rather than the uber-literal "Counterattack of Godzilla". The pirate nicknames in One Piece are typically translated in the "Nickname-Actual Name" pattern rather than "Actual Name of Nickname". Our very own Densetsu no Suupaa Saiya-jin Broli is usually called the "Legendary Super Saiyan" rather than the "Super Saiyan of Legend". Etc, etc. "Resurrection 'F'" is a perfectly valid way of translating the title...maybe the tiniest bit liberal, but that's all. Not that there's anything wrong with good ol' "Revival of F" either. Of course ultimately it's a matter of personal taste which translation (if any) people think sounds "cool" or whatever, but as far as accuracy goes I don't see a problem.

I think Resurrection F is a great title. It's easy to say, has a nice ring to it, and is unique.

Who thinks there are going to be some great, memorable lines come from this movie? I think with Frieza coming back that there's a lot of potential for that. Especially with Vegeta, I believe :)

I think it looks fine animation-wise. Of course it is not going to be the way it was when Dragon Ball Z was animated in 90's, but I think it looks much better than what we got in Battle of Gods. At least in term of consistency, anyway. They also got better use of line work, which is always a plus. I'm really curious who was involved in the animation process. We will probably have to wait until the theatrical or DVD release to find out who animated it. One thing we know for sure is that, despite the film to be action-oriented, Naotoshi Shida isn't going to draw some cuts for it, which is a big blow. His cuts in the last film were one of the highlights. There's a possibility that Naoki Tate and Oonoshi Ryou draw some cuts. Disk Wars: Avengers was about to finish up, so he could very well be available. I think Oonoshi is still the character designer for Majin Bone, but Yamamuro could have already asked him to partake the animation for the film. It would be interesting how the film ends up. After seeing the cuts from the recent trailer and the ad, I think they are a lot better than the last film.

Tate Naoki was animation supervisor and a key animator for Disk Wars: Avengers Episode #50. His influence is very clear across the episode, even when he did not do any of the key animation himself. He probably didn't begin work on the episode until after Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F finished production, though. He was character designer for Episodes #26-51 while Yamamuro Tadayoshi was focused on Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F, so I'm leaning toward him being pretty busy, although it isn't like he couldn't have done some key animation. The real question is whether or not Yamamuro would allow Tate to do his thing uncorrected. Tate is best when he sticks out and doesn't try to conform to another animation supervisor.

Oonishi Ryou did a lot of key animation for Majin Bone, which he was character designer for. I don't think he would be available to work on Fukkatsu no F, certainly less so than Tate. Hamano Yuu'ichi might have worked on the film, though. He hasn't been too busy, I don't think.

Shida Naotoshi has already confirmed he didn't work on Fukkatsu no F. With Disk Wars: Avengers reaching its climax he probably wasn't too eager to break away from it for too long. He did a ton of animation for it, so he obviously enjoyed his time working on the series. The big question now is who took on the role of animating the climax if Shida did not do so...

Mmmm, the music has been used quite a lot... I can't put my finger on it, but I don't think the used the same music over and over while advertising BoG, I could be wrong though.... could this be part of the score?. THERE ARE CHORAL PIECES according to the site :P

So is that God Ki, Freeza's attack going over Goku's aura, or is Goku using Kaio-Ken?

The professional editor in me has to address this.

No, it could not be argued. Including "the" in this context would imply either all gods or at least all governing/ruling gods are battling. Seeing as how only Beerus and Goku are involved, it would be either "Battle of Gods" or "Battle of some of the Gods."

"Super Saiyan of Legend" sounds pretty damn epic, actually. But point taken.

It's not Kaio-ken it's just a reflection of color of Freeza's attacked... Why would Goku uses Kaio-ken?

Why would Goku have his base form be his ultimate power? Why revive Freeza for the 6th time? Really if he were using Kaio-Ken I wouldn't be surprised. Not much at this point is surprising.
