How strong is Mr.Popo

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Had no idea Mr. Popo was from the afterlife. That's quite interesting.
Does that mean he can travel between Earth and the afterlife the same way Baba can?
Maybe, but not necessarily. Someone higher up (like the current God of Earth at the time) could have brought him to Earth. We know that Kami himself can teleport to the afterlife at will.

He (or his magic carpet) does seem to be able to teleport from place to place on Earth though, like how he took Bulma to Kami's ship. Either that or it just moves impossibly fast.

We never really know for sure, but my friends and I've always joked he's the strongest character in the series because he's the one person who whoops Son's ass that Son never defeats.

Either way, he's an awesome dude.

If he is from the afterlife, couldn't we classify him as non-living, or nonexistent?
No. There are lots of races indigenous to the afterlife. The Kaio, the Kaioshin, the demons who live in Hell, etc.

True. I was going to say something else, but it would of lead into a silly religious discussion, so fuck it.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

Who would win in a fight? Appule or Popo?

People say that sometimes, but it's not based on anything but his turban and magic carpet. Daizenshuu 7 says that Mister Popo is from the afterlife, sent to Earth to assist its gods.
This always bugged me, since other planets don't have Popos. I would have prefered it if he was a monster, in the sense that the human race is devided into 3 classes, and that anything that isn't a regular human or an animal-human is a monster-human.

EDIT: My personal theory is that he has a PL of 250 (equal to Radditz-saga Tenshinhan). That way his skill and the lack of oxygen make him badass compared to Goku (260) instead of a bit weaker.

How do you know other planets don't have Popos? It's not like we ever see the gods of other planets.

Maybe they don't need them, because they're desolate?

Wasn't Saichoru the equivalent of the Namekkian Kami? I know he's really just the Grand Elder, but because they're all good people, being so seems to be the role of Kami, not leader. Plus he has knowledge of the "Holy Hierarchy," or at least regarding Kamis and Kaios. One could argue that the Namekkian Kami and Popo died in the cataclysm, but shouldn't that result in another Popo being sent?

Well, that's just speculation, but if it were true that Saichourou was the equivalent of the god for Planet Namek, it would just show that the planet is an exception to the rule.

Uninhabited planets presumably wouldn't have gods. As Daizenshuu 7 explains it, each planet has a god chosen from among its inhabitents to guide the sentinent races of that planet towards happiness, and assistants from the afterlife are sent to help them out.

The first quotation implies that the second one is true. When you think about it, Saichoru really should be their Kami, but because bad Nameks (other than Piccolo) don't exist and because there's only about 100 Nameks left, he wouldn't need a Popo. Especially since he has Nail and the Village Leaders to help him manage such a small, perfect population.

Maybe Nail is the Popo of planet namek. I mean, maybe the first Kami of earth looked like Popo? Maybe each planet that has life has different God/God assistant because of different Planetary needs?

So Popos become either the species or exact resemblence of the god who first needed them? Not sure I like that. I think Popo's race is indegenous to the afterlife, like the Oni. When needed, they're sent to help out gods.

Pecking order indeed. Would that make him on par or beneath the Oni? Speaking of Oni, if they handle the weather in the Dragonworld, as well as the souls of the dead, why don't they take on the position of gods?

Why can't we use the term assistant? Mr. Popo is more likely the man's name, not his title. The only organization of popo I know are the 5-0.

Oh, and what about filler Popo? Apparently according to Toei, he can fend off Super Saiyans.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

Mr. Popo is god's assistant. Filler Popo is a witch and should be burned at the stake as one. :P

Are you serious? Super Saiyans? Really? Damn, Toei! No matter how we look at things, Popo has to be weaker than Saiyan-saga Vegeta, otherwise he would have helped out.

Mr. Popo is God/strongest in the universe, Kami is assistant. Team Four Star's abridged series is canon.

This I cannot wait to see in the TFS Abridged episode.

This cannot happen. No planet can handle the combined powers that Mr. Popo and Appule possesse, hell I don't even think the Afterlife can.

I don't think that Popo is allowed to kill anyone.

Fair enough, but if he's as strong as a super saiyan, he should be able to stop Vegeta and Nappa from destroying the world without having to kill them. Hell, he could literally just grab each of them by the arm and physically hold them in place until they promise to leave and never come back.
