Bra's cool, I guess. She looks like Bulma, and is good doujinshi fodder.
As a character? Meh, I'd have liked her more if she had a tad more depth, perhaps she could've had a hidden passion for fighting (inherited from her father), and trained in secret so people wouldn't think she was a tomboy.
You can argue that she knows bukujutsu, meaning she trains anyway, but that's really boring to me. Just seems like plot convenience to have everybody power up Bebi in the sky.
So overall? She's better in hentai than in the actual show.

If Trunks were to have a kid at the end of Z, the whole, "Omg we started as Goku being a kid and now he's a grandfather!" wouldn't have had as much of a great effect since Vegeta would be a grandfather too. Meaning the main focus wouldn't be us realizing how much we've all been through with Goku. We would mostly just think, "Wow, they're so old now. They both have grandchildren."

I agree, and I also agree with Trunks being too young. But I also think that Bra being Trunks's daughter would make things even more complicated, because then you'd have to have a new character for Bra's mother, so then you'd have two non-developed characters.

That's true, but if we never saw the mother, it wouldn't be the first time.

Haha, true, but that's always been for characters whose parents in general weren't major characters. Goku, Kuririn, and Bulma never just showed up with children without it being perfectly clear who the other parent was. If Trunks just had a kid, and there was nothing said about the mother, it would be far too distracting to the audience for them to actually pay attention to the story.

I was going to say that there's not much of a story left to be distracted from anyway, unless you're including GT. But even in Z, if Bra's mother wasn't around while Trunks was fighting in the tournament, there would be even more speculation about why this mother wasn't around. Does she not support Trunks' fighting? (even though it was Vegeta who made him) Are her and Trunks divorced? Or did Trunks knock some girl up at the Capsule Corp. Christmas party? Good thing we don't have that to worry about!

I think other people have really hit it on the head. In the manga and Z, she was just meant to be a toss-away symbol of the characters' having continued their lives. In GT she was there more to interact with Vegeta than anything. There's nothing egregiously irritating or interesting about her either way.

I'm glad they didn't try to shoehorn her into a larger role in GT though. Pan fills the child protagonist niche well enough and it would've been a mess to focus on developing another character in 64 episodes.

It gets a lot better after the first few pages and the drawing looks like Toriyama. AF by Toyble was the traced one.

Hey, hey. Let's not forget that Bra makes for good eye candy (especially in DBM). :P

I've heard speculation that characters having children is Toriyama's way of writing romance. "Just in case you thought Trunks was an accident, here's another one several years later!"

I don't really think about it much... :?

I don't take criticism of DBGT personally. I take stupid, shallow and non valid critcism of DBGT personally.

Which is totally fine and dandy... except you came in guns blazing before anyone else even said anything of the like. Seriously -- you were the first one to respond.

Save the holier-than-thou comments for when they're at least relevant and in response to something.

Sorry about that. I just knew someone was bound to say something about GT. It's happened before in threads that were unrelated to it in the first place.

I have more to say on the subject of Mr. Popo or the Namekian Giant Crab than Bra. She's a nothing character.

Aren't you thinking of Pan? We don't see a hint of Bra's strength.

Err... why take it personally at all? You had nothing to do with the creation of the show, yet you act like your feelings get hurt when people badmouth it. And what exactly is "non-valid criticism"? Isn't simply stating that "GT's plot was boring, and the fights were uninteresting" a proper opinion? Or does one have to cite specific examples and write an essay before their opinion is validated?

Toriyama said in DB Forever that he thinks she's strong too...but yeah, in the actual series we never see her do anything more than fly, really.

Not my feelings, but my intelligence.

A "non-valid criticism" is saying false things like: "GT makes no sense", which I have heard on numerous occasions.
