I used to hate the Dub theme-song...

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I hate the One Piece dub altogether. :P

At least the Saban/FUNi DBZ dub had tolerable voices. Besides Zoro (Who constantly spouts idiotic, out of character lines), none of the voices in the OP dub are any good.

I've never heard the original opening for One Piece, nor have I really had much interest to check out the show, but I will have to say, the dub's theme song was kind of catchy. Particularly during the "Ya-yo, Ya-yo" part.

If you thought "Rock the Dragon" was bad, you should hear what they replaced it with when Dragon Ball Z started airing here in Canada. All it did was repeat:

"Dragon-Dragon Ball...DRAGON BALL Z!" over and over again.
"Well, Diane, I'm sure you and your brother are devistated for the two-headed monster that could have been," ~ Tom Tucker.

These are all reasons I didn't so much mind Toonami's replacing the openings with their own footage compilations. They were at least semi-tasteful with it.

I really haven't had much exposure to One Piece, but what little I saw of an episode ending...the VA'ing was about as convincing as Chris Sabat's Vegeta in the Ginyu Saga.

I've seen both of those before, and still find the second one hilarious. Though good thing they didn't get Naruto huh?

I'd say GT's is worse. The OP song is catchy at least. :)

I dunno, I never bothered to watch the GT dub. I just know that 4Kids produced an english version of We Are (Though not exactly a direct translation.) and switched to the horrible rap song for OP.

Which is too bad since the We Are they produced was stomachable compared to the rap.

Anyone seen 4Kids' original dub opening (We Are, in English)? That was pretty catchy. But noooooo, kids <3 rap!

The One Piece rap is so bad, it's good, like Godzilla. Same with the GT rap, though the red Shenron was too fake even for that analogy.

PokeRap owns both of them.

PokeRap?! *flashes back to 1999* Oh god...

I'd definatley say the OP opening is way better than the GT one. I actually find the OP rap stuck in my head all the time. Oh well, Naruto's dub theme owns them all.

Amen. Sometimes I catch myself humming the non-rap parts of One Piece's theme. GT's... makes me want to cry, barf, and make a stabbing motion all at once. Every time I try to think of what is the worst part of that rap, I end up thinking of something worse. For example...

Worst Part #1: The rapper's voice. Sounds like Jaleel White doing his Urkel voice, but after getting kicked in the nards.
Worst Part #2: "Grand Tour, Grand Tour, Step into da Grand Tour..."
Worst Part #3: "He's Saiyan strong..."

And the list goes on....
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I'd go with the opening for the GT dub. Simply because I love the line, "He's made of rubber (How'd that happen?) YO-HO-HO, he took a bite o' Gum-Gum." :P

Seriously, the GT theme just seems totally unnecessary given the fact that most of DB in America has had more of a "metal" sound to it. Didn't the dub for movie 4 have music by Pantera?

Anyway, you guys are forgetting the fun Canadian dub song. With that electric guitar and drums. Then that demonic voice, going "Dragon, Dragonball! Dragonball ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!" It was like a bad Canadian heavy metal band from the 80's.
Man that's the most horrible dub song I've ever heard.
The original Funi DB dub song is pretty cool though.

Find that Dragonball>Makafushi Adventure

With what everyone's saying about this GT dub theme, I'm glad I only got Blue Water's dub to watch.
It has the original MUSIC, but the vocals are english. I don't think it's translated into english, I would think it's just different lyrics altogether. But hey, as long as it's not this "rap" you guys are mentioning. :P
