Maybe anime being from Asia has something to do with it?
Doesn't that one #18 post here, or at least used to?

Vegeta hair photo-manip:
- Sillyness, but the guy pulls off the look pretty well just being himself.
And that's my feelings about that.
I agree the Vegeta thing is silliness, but that's why it was done, for a joke. He actually is putting on the correct face, I was gonna make him SSJ because the boys hair is blond to start with.

That was a pretty good Mr. Buu. The first time I've seen accurate character to cosplay physique.

lost in thought wrote:Wow. There are only two of those pictures that I see as a reasonable (or partially decent) attempt at cosplaying as such characters, and I'll tell you which ones, and why:
- Image 1, Bad22.jpg:
- I like where this person took the idea of Majin Buu, because other than the abismal eye design and the antenna that looks like a rather mishapen penis, he pulls of a rather decent Super Buu. Had the person spent a bit more time with the makeup, and obviously his -human horn- on the forehead there, I think it could have been the best Majin Buu costume I've ever seen. [And I've seen a few, none of which were anything to sneeze at.]
Image 2, Bad9.jpg:
- The only thing I like about this is the hair, they didn't go for your standard wig, instead opting for something a little more unusual but in turn more authentic. I like that, because frankly most of the wigs I've ever seen sucked, and this if coupled with a person who could actually pull off the buff appearance of a DBZ character would probably be the best cosplay outfit one has ever seen for the series.
Dear god some of that shit is just horrible...
Yeah, sometimes a wig can bring down what you have elsewhere. When I cosplayed for the first time earlier this year, my wig wasn't all that great and guys I knew who weren't really into anime, and my family members, thought I was crossdressing or something. (Had to get a womans's wig since they didn't have long male hair wigs).

Wow. Those are awesome. All the costumes (except the saiyan armor) look like the real material. Every other cos-play I've seen involves really bad material choices - and just comes off as fake.
The only thing in that whole line-up that doesn't look 100% accurate is the saiyan armor (but that's got to be really hard to do) and the cyborg Tao Pai Pai (but who wants a real sword stuck to their arm?)

The girl-Goku would make an excellent kid Goku in a live performance though.

The Vegeta and Nappa one was pretty cool, as was the one with Lunch. But out of all of those, Kame-sennin stood out as the best.

I recall once seeing a REALLY good Tao PaiPai cosplay done by an Asian man. Unfortunately, I no longer have it.
Suprised no one brought this old image up (even though it isn't cosplay

):

Holy shit! That guy's awesome! Too bad he isn't wearing the right costume, but the face and hair are PERFECT! He's got the same expression and everything!

Ignore the writing, I just stumbled onto this in someone's sig. Instantly I thought to myself that it would be an awesome Onio if he shaved his head.

I totally like this topic, lets not let it die. Lol.
And now another episode of "That's. My. Opinion."
Fuck it, I am just going to say the ones I like:
Chi-Chi:
- Costume = A++. Failure on her part for the lack of proper hair style, and not looking like Chichi.
Tao Pai Pai/Mercenary Tao #1:
- That's how you fuckin' do it~!
Son Goku:
- I totally like that. A+
Tao Pai Pai/Mercenary Tao #2:
- Costume is aces, but couldn't he um... I don't know... grow a mustache for that?

Where's the beef?

Bulma: I think I'm in love!
Only I can't speak Japanese...Dammit!
Chi-Chi: Well, she got the costume right...
Tao Pai Pai: If there ever is a live action movie, this guy is so fuckin' Tao!
Pan: Looks too much like a guy...
Kame'Sennin: Pathetic.
Goku: Amazing! Probably the best besides Bulma and Tao!
Lunch: Blue: Bad Blonde: Good
Vegeta and Nappa: Ick!
Satan and Cybrog Tao Pai Pai: Whoa!

This guy isn't even a cosplayer and he looks just like Mr. Satan! The Cyborg Tao Pai Pai gives me nightmares...

I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

Well like I said, I mainly put that Pan picture up to illustrate that she got the hair right. I can't tell you how many Pans I've seen that don't even bother doing anything with their hair, period. They're just walking around in the costume with blond curly hair down passed their shoulders. I mean you put the effort into getting the clothes and all, you couldn't go a tiny bit further and get a wig? I know I'm getting a little carried away here....forgive me. It's just I have a pet peeve about inaccurate or lazy cosplay.

Here's some more I found decent enough to post...
Kuririn.
Suprisingly, this actually looks a bit like Trunks. They won't find an exact copy after all...don't know about the others though....actually I do, they are crappy.

I know I said decent, but I had to post this, how big a fool does this idiot look? He wishes he was Vegeta. Even the two in the background are thinking 'what is he doing?' The costume is even crap, those boots are...crap.
Looking at No.18 here, Bulma is actually not bad, but that 18 looks quite good, she has the cold look in the eyes, and she has the forehead too, minus the specs she's a pretty good one. She needs to lose a few pounds though...despite the fact I've seen some despicable 18's...

Needs to lose a few pounds? You've been staring at pics of supermodels too long. She's perfectly fine. For God sakes! No wonder females are throwing up whatever food they eat when someone says that about a normal looking girl. Okay, rant over.
Ya the Trunks isn't too bad. The Vegeta and Buruma in it are "okay". And I can't tell for certain, but I think that Vegeta is a female. That is some of the poorest done Saiyajin armor I have seen yet. It looks like a half finished paper mache project from a five year-old.

I don't really mean she needs to lose pounds to look good or because I think she's over-weight, I say it because no.18 is really quite slim compared to her. She isn't really fat at all.
And is it just me or could that woman in the background do a good Goku? Look...
Maybe Goten at the end of Z actually, the long hair covers those extra bits at the neck...
And that Vegeta is a boy, I can't see boobs, and he looks like a boy in another picture I saw.

That Trunks is nothing. I knew a kid back in High School that didn't have to cosplay to look like Trunks. All he was missing was the right hair color.
