Agreed with the Videl thing, that's just hard to watch. I can't remember if it's as bad as that in the manga, but in the anime...just...damn.

Heh, I forget that that even happened, but fair point there. It might not be hard to look at, but just thinking about it in that light, ouch.Blade wrote:I think in terms of the sheer gulf in power, this deserves an honorable mention:

Didn't Videl threaten and blackmail Gohan prior to this?

I mean, I get your point (I think), Videl's not exactly squeaky clean. But the thing is nobody in Dragon Ball is. Everyone in it is 'dirty' in some manner or another. Every. One. It's what makes most of the characters so appealing.

So he would train her to fly - but her intents weren't entirely unscrupulous and there was a clear romance developing between them at the time. It's not like there was anything sinister about it that would make her deserving of such a savage beating!RandomGuy96 wrote:Didn't Videl threaten and blackmail Gohan prior to this?

Re: Who took the worst beating?
Nah, I was genuinely just asking, mostly because s/he made it sound like Videl was hated because she "refused to take shit" from Gohan. Obviously, "because she was a bitch that one time" and "she wouldn't sit down and shut her mouth like a good woman" are very different reasons to hate somebody. That seemed to be what you were implying at any rate. I apologize if I took it out of context though.

Re: Who took the worst beating?
I remember reading a story where a character gets whipped 40+ times, punched in the eye twice, shot in the hip with an arrow, gets sick, and gets various other more minor injuries, all within one month and while having to deal with the crippling guilt of causing a best friend to almost get killed.
Nobody in DB/Z comes close to dealing with that amount of pain in such a short amount of time. Hell, I can't even think of anyone from any other series who did.

I've read a story where a guy is mentioned to have had both his arms and legs cut off and cauterized, his eyes and tongue ripped out, and forcibly addicted to heroin. That's probably the worst I've read about.thatdbzguy wrote:I remember reading a story where a character gets whipped 40+ times, punched in the eye twice, shot in the hip with an arrow, gets sick, and gets various other more minor injuries, all within one month and while having to deal with the crippling guilt of causing a best friend to almost get killed.

Not that this has anything to do with Dragon Ball though.
On-Topic, I'd probably say Vegeta after the Saiyan Arc finale.

I've seen worst than that. That's not impressive honestly. Many anime does that. Of course no one in DBZ got that much of a beating because it's DBZ..honestly. The question is obviously talking about Dragonball so I don't see why you brought other anime into it and state "DBZ characters could't get a beaten like that".thatdbzguy wrote:I remember reading a story where a character gets whipped 40+ times, punched in the eye twice, shot in the hip with an arrow, gets sick, and gets various other more minor injuries, all within one month and while having to deal with the crippling guilt of causing a best friend to almost get killed.

Re: Who took the worst beating?
I'm curious, what do you think is worse than that? Getting whipped is probably one of the most painful things ever (on top of all the other injuries), and what makes the character's situation worse was how it all happened in a month, which barely gave the character enough time to heal both physically and mentally.TheGmGoken wrote:I've seen worst than that. What a pansy. The average shooting game characters sustains hundreds of normally fatal injuries per day, and all they need to walk it off is food and band-aids.
