Random GIFs have no relevance to anything, where-as a conversation about the quality and possible boosting of such from the "Dragon Box" R2s could actually lead to a conversation.

If you'd like to debate the reasonings for locking vs. non-locking decisions on this board, please feel free to PM me :).

I'd say the originals are better, I prefer them, yours looks to much like Funi's DVD's, which is what makes the DBOX's worth watching instead of the dub.

I'd rather see the image lighter than darker, it's easier on the eyes, and it's like the whole image has been laminated with a clear layer, minus the reflections.

I really dont think my screenshots look like funimation's dvds, first of all, the bit rate on my video is WAYYYYY higher than the one you can find on funimation's dvd. Second, mi video is completely cleaned, the colors are solid and vibrant, without sacrificing quality.

Vegetto EX, is it possible that I can use your RADITZ image compraison test picture ( the one where you comprare ARRIVAL, RE-RELEASE, and DBOX) to make a better comparison?

The image is much better than Funimations, it's just the the saturation looks similar.

I would think it'd be ok to use the Raditz thing to compare since it's his own forum.

Also... please don't disrespect the Dragonboxes quality by placing the word Funimation within a 5 word radius XD

P.S Yes, I did place dragonbox 5 words away from funimation, that for all you witty people

Here's another comparrison picture... I'll do the same with another set from Spikedude.

http://xs.to/xs.php?f=spikedude2.jpg&h=xs64&d=06032

We can clearly see that FUNi's image quality is sub-par, but upon further review we can see that the DragonBox appears to have some problems as well. It appears that the DragonBox image is also stretched wider that Spikedude's re-master (though I'll check against other images from Spikedude to determine that soon).

(kind of an ) EDIT...

Here's a comparrison of two images from Spikedude (both images created and saved using the exact same method means they can be comparred better than two images from two different people).

http://xs.to/xs.php?f=spikedude3.jpg&h=xs64&d=06032

Here we can see that there's little change in actual image quality (suggesting that Mike's "lossless" image might not be so lossless after all) but the really interesting thing here is that Spikedude's remaster actually produces more image. We can clearly see the top of the window in the re-mastered image but it's cut off in the original.

edit...
Anyone else having trouble with imageshack?

Yes image shack seems to be experiencing a DoS attack, or that's what I'm guessing XD, because sometimes it loads sometime it doesn't.

Your re-master does look smoother, but some of the colours look over saturated (especcially the greens), though not as badly as the FUNImation releases.

I kinda like the greens :), and the greens are really noticeable right now because we are in Namekusein ( again thats how we say NAMEK in the South American version, although it might be Namekusei) once you get to the other sagas, you will only notice the green in the background tress, grass, etc. Hopefully I can remaster the wehole series, as I get to othe sagas I'll try and update some new screenshots. For now, I'm gonna take a screenshot of the insides of Master Roshi's house, were there are TONS of color to compare :)

I'm not sure what your supposed "remastering" process is, but if all you're doing is filtering frames, there should be no "warping" that's taking place, and you shouldn't be resizing down from 720x480 to 576x432; you're negating the whole reasoning for saving in a lossless format.

Acutally My dragonbox rips are 640x480, since thats the TRUE resolution of the dragonbox sets, 720x480 is a stretched image, and looks bad, at least that's what I think. I mean, if you look at the Raditz comparison, you can clearly see that my raditz image looks A LOT better than the one in your dragonbox comparison. do you agree eh veggeto?

[quote="Spikedude"]Afer finnaly getting a hold of a DBZ V.1 Dragonbox, the first thing I did was make back up copies on my computer, I didn't feel like taking risks.
After messing around with the dragonbox on my computer, I decided to try a liltle remastering of the already beatiful looknig dragonbox. I have taken a screenshot of both my RE-REMASTERED VERSION and the ORIGIANL DRAGONBOX and I was wondering if people prefered my remastered version of the dragonbox, or the real dragonbox quaility. Samples are found below

I don't understand why you bother chaning colors (because that is what you're doing, not remastering) of the Dragonbox, oh well, each to his own.

Dude, don't go being overly harsh on him just because he was speaking his thoughts on the matter. Don't have to act like such a big shot all because you got your fancy unsubbed dragonbox with your own remastering aspects. Let me guess, you're gonna rip Steve's subtitles and put them on your remastered project?

Nope, you guessed wrong, and I dont meant to be harsh, I just think that people who dont know what they are talking about should at least state that in someway they dont have good enough knowledge to make good decision, if everyone just comments on stuff they dont know about , this would be a huge Funimation forum.

BIGSHOT? I am actually saying that the DRAGONBOX isn't PERFECT as a lot of people that own it claim it to be, and that depending on taste it can actually be improved. I'm not a bigshot, that's why I'm here asking for KNOWLEDGABLE OPINIONS.

I apologize for the spelling XD

Say, you've been a member here since October, don't you know by now that we're all supposed to spell in a proper manner? That means Capitalization's and ending a sentence with a period.
