Ah, I see. Thanks for the images comparison. How come two groups get to animate the same episode? Did one group remake the episodes of the other?

Which group is on the left images and in what DVD's?

To a greater extent, I liked the moments before Cell's debut with the combination of ki from Goku, Vegita, Freeza etc.

The part where Bulma phones Kuririn and Trunks, telling them about a strange object found in the forest that was exactly like Trunks' time machine (and which was), was awesome - especially the cliffhanger where Trunks questions the reasons for disparity in the timelines after looking at the faxed picture. And then onto the part which escalates this mystery by comparing the two time machines with the unraveling of the word 'hope!!' on both, and then finally discovering the time machine had originated from the future of Mirai Trunks' timeline when checking the departure dates, was exciting.

That's hardly their shittiest group though, they have one that's much worse. Anyway, I haven't watched that part in a while but I think the episode may have ended that way and in the next episode there was a bit of a recap.

There were three groups in total. I just showed you the best group compared to the worst group. There's another group, that's slightly close to being as good as the best but not quite. They're fairly decent. Sometimes an episode would be drawn by one group for a while, and then they'd take a break and pass the episode on to another group to do other scenes. Certain episodes in the Namek season had a VERY nasty habit of switching between all three animation groups, mostly using the worst. It was simply not to overwork the groups, seeing how big the series is.

The group on the left of each screenshot are the best animators of the series. From those screenshots, they're from Trunks - Mysterious Youth on the final episode of the disc. They usually aren't used very often and animate pretty much just the important events, such as Trunks arriving and showing up Freeza. They're usually followed up by the awful group.

Ah yes. I completely forgot about that part. From there on, that was truly one of the greatest twists in the plot for the manga and the show. That and when everyone felt Freeza's Ki and an even stronger one approaching Earth when they had thought Goku finished him.

No, that IS their shittiest group. They're the ones who draw everyone's hair bigger than their heads and make the characters completely off model, especially with the pointy joints And pretty much the entire episode was drawn by them. The ones on the left came from one episode, while the ones on the right came from the next episode. I left out the good group since there wasn't much to really compare, nor did I want to find scenes to compare.

Hmm...I'm stuck between two episodes. Both of which include my fave character, Gohan. The first one is the episode when he first transforms to ssj 2. In my head I was saying to him:
"you did it, man. now go KICK HIS ASS!!"

The second would be when gohan is walking up to cell, now this is several episodes later (like 2 or so). This is just before cell flies up to attempt a chou kamehameha, Gohan says to cell (This is from the dub. Not the japanese original) something like:
"I warned you. I told you not to push me too far. I told you that this would happen if you pushed me over the edge. But you wouldn't listen. And now you're scared...because you know....that I'm going to destroy you."

I just laughed my ass off when I saw the look on cell's face as Gohan said this. Wow, I'm laughing about it as I type.
"YOSHAAA!"

Off the top of my head my favourite episode would have to be "DB 16 Lesson 1 - The search for a rock". Don't ask me why, its just Classic Dragonball at its best, no super fireballs and heat beams, just pure martial arts.

"Goku vs. Vegeta!! A Saiyan Duel."

Still waiting for the Ultimate Uncut DVD so I can see the original, but as far as the Ocean Dub stands, this episode was absolutely amazing and will always hold a special place in my heart as the moment I was completely sold on Dragonball Z (That was 8 years ago).

The episode this screenshot comes from:

(I'll let you guys figure out which one it is :))

I especially like the music (jp version of course) that plays in the scene this screenshot is taken from.

I'm guessing it is the episode where Goku arrives at the battle scene after Piccolo dies. I'm also guessing that screen-cap is when he stares at Nappa, pissed.
Even I became a loser when I made one of these...

It was a recap. The first group did the last few minutes of the episode. On the next episode, after the "Last Time on Dragon Ball Z", that little part replays, only with the other animation group. All I gotta say was that even I'm suprised. I"m one of those fans who, sadly, only see the same thing until that shot was posted..

My favorite was 170 (US. JP, 184) . I was re-introduced to the dub this way, and I loved it. The cool music (I didn't really like Shinsuke Kikuchi's "The Incredible Mightiest vs Mightiest") played during Gohan's transformation, the utter buildup, then, him defeating all 7 Cell Juniors like patty :D . I loved it.

Is it the episode where he is about to bash up Nappa for the loss of his friends?

It's been too long since I've seen the episode, but I instantly recalled the Manga counterpart (talking about the Goku pissed at Nappa image.)

If I remember correctly...he says "There'll be no mercy for you...You Bastards..!"

Good fricken times.

Oh, do you mean "Day of Destiny~ Spirit vs. Spirit" ("The Incredible Mightiest vs. Mightiest" is actually the ending theme from Movie 5)? Well, I think the Japanese version of 184 is downright godly, but there's been some opposition about that. To each their own, I suppose.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

I'm going to have to say episode 176, "Save The World" is my favorite. It gives me a great feeling every time I watch it and it makes me happy. It has plenty of action and emotion; both of wich are huge when Gohan gives the final yell and the Kamehameha destroys Cell. Also, all of the Z warriors are fighting together and give great tributes to Gohan and Goku.
It also has awsome music to fit it. I really couldn't have asked for more, It reminds me of why I love Dragonball.

The Incredible Mightiest vs Mightiest is a BGM piece. 184, as I said, is the episode in which Gohan decides to do 'something' to the Cell Juniors. The song was played during that scene where the camera moves over Gohan's face, then it shows scenes of him buffing up, before Mr.Satan and Co gets knocked away :D . In the dub, the music was replaced by (As called on the Bruce Faulconer CD's) "Gohan Angers 2".

And what do you mean by 'opposition'?

Japanese Episode 120, "Freeza, Halved By a Single Stroke!! Another Super Saiyan", is still my favorate despite me trying to say it isn't. I'm a trunks fan, what can I say? While I really like to view it in conjunction with 119 and 121, this middle episode is truly my favorate of the three, and thus my favorate of the series. Trunks gets to change our perspective on everything really. I mean what were YOU thinking when you saw this?

Image

I know I was like, great one more character is fucked. I mean from the point of that time a "regular earthling" would be killed by Freeza's men. But Trunks turns around and does this:

Image

At that point you knew it was going to be an interesting episode. Now when he became a Super Saiyan, that too was a shock. But even moreso when he became resilient to all of Freeza's attacks!

Image Image

Then came the ultimate fangasm moment, the halving of Freeza! A moment that singlehandedly changed the definition of DBZ. Up to this point the heroes had been desperatly trying to keep up with the power of the enemies. From this point on the heroes WERE the super strong ones, given training for the androids of course. From this point on we could call the heroes "truly strong" and the enemies they faced either gained the upper hand from arrogance on the heroes part (Cell), or were simply indestructable by normal means (Buu).

Image

So yeah, thats my favorate episode and why. It first off shows my favorate character in action, but secondly it changes the tone of the show single handedly. Plus who couldn't enjoy Battle Point Unlimited as an insert song?
