What happened to Vegeta saying I will never fight again...

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

1. To challenge Goku in the afterlife (It's clear that he had an interest in this when he later asks Piccolo if he'll get to meet him when he dies)
2. To surpass Gohan
3. To defend the earth from any possible threat
4. Boredom
When does she say Vegeta has spent the last 5 years training? I don't recall her saying that. Can you tell me the page and chapter?

I'm not sure if she says it in the Manga but she definitely says it in both the Japanese and English versions of the anime during the part were she's arguing with Chi Chi about who'll win the Tournament.

That scene is filler.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I thought it might be the case. I actually don't think Bulma and Chi chi have ever been catty in the manga towards each other. Either because Bulma knows Chi chi would destroy her or because they have some sort of mutual understanding.

Honestly my opinion of the entire thing was that after his rival Goku died, Vegeta simply lost the will to fight since he would never be able to prove he was #1 and reclaim his honor of the Prince of all Saiyans. Then his pride was obliterated when Goku's son surpassed him as well despite being only 9 (or 11 depending on manga/show or dub/Japanese) years old whereas Vegeta was around 30 at the time of Cell's defeat. But Vegeta is also like Goku in that they are Saiyan warriors and they live to train and fight, so out of boredom he would train to push himself to his limits.

Then in Dragon Ball Kai when Gohan (as the Great Saiyaman) visits Bulma for an outfit, Vegeta sees him and says something about being relaxed during peacetime. I'm assuming that either Vegeta wanted to be prepared for a new threat if one should ever occur, or seeing Gohan become lax and ignore his training he realized Earth needed a savior since Goku was gone. Either way there are many reasons why he would go back to training and fighting.

Of course, once he heard Goku was coming back for a day that revived his reason for existence, hence he went to the Martial Arts Tournament. What happened from then on was just regular Vegeta stupidity that ended up nearly killing everyone (I made a list of this in another post somewhere).

He was already going before he found that Goku was going.

Vegeta does mention quite a bit of times to Goku in the Boo arc that this is his "last chance" and what not, so it's probable that he hasn't fought (only trained) prior to Goku's return.

That's one thing I notice with not just Dragon Ball but with anime adaptations in general tend to exaggerate personality flaws or quirks to characters like Bulma and Chi-Chi for 'comedy' during filler and other non-canon stuff.

Didn't AT say something about Bulma helping repair Vegeta's wounded pride in one of his interviews or something?

I always assumed she got tired of him moping around the house and berated/nagged him into training again.
