The woman stayed with the man and happily welcomed him despite leaving them to do his own thing for years-on-end and basically providing nothing for the family. No normal woman would deal that kinda shit from their lover/husband.ABED wrote:Does she love him? No one finds it depressing that Chi Chi is possibly married to a man who doesn't love her in a romantic way. He's a nice guy and all, but I don't think Goku is capable of love. He can love you, but not be IN LOVE with you. It seems like he thinks of her as a platonic friend/room mate. If this is true, would you find it depressing?
I would hate to be in a marriage where the wife doesn't love me in that kind of way. Imagine being friend zoned by YOUR WIFE.
Yes, it was in Episode 147 of the anime.HybridSaiyan wrote:Goku and Chi Chi kiss if i remember? but it's off-screen from Roshi's viewpoint.
As for the topic, he obvious does give a shit but he's generally self-centered and free-spirited due to limited social skills. Super's Goku probably doesn't however...

Staying with someone doesn't equal happiness. It's like she knew Goku before she married him. The most he had done was pat her on the crotch. This isn't a one way street. Goku did provide food. The woman stayed with the man and happily welcomed him despite leaving them to do his own thing for years-on-end and basically providing nothing for the family. That's why I mentioned the happily welcomed him part and Chi-Chi has flatout said pretty much all Goku does is train so it's likely he do much of anything for the family. The only time we see him getting food or do anything for them willingly is in filler (but it's not like nobody else can do it).ABED wrote:Staying with someone doesn't equal happiness. Whether anyone else can do it isn't relevant. Goku did it. Goku and Chichi don't have a car and they live in the mountains, so I'm guessing Goku did what he always did, catch food and train.DBZAOTA482 wrote:That's why I mentioned the happily welcomed him part and Chi-Chi has flatout said pretty much all Goku does is train so it's likely he do much of anything for the family. And I don't see your point about "happily welcoming him". They weren't in love when they got married, it wasn't just Goku. She didn't love him, she didn't know what love is. Her entire idea of what marriage is was probably based on what she read and heard.

Actually, Goku does drive a car in the Cell arc. I wonder what happened to it? He doesn't drive it in Dragon Ball Super, but he does know how to operate a tractor, regardless.

Re: Does Gokuu give a shit about his family ?
Of course, Goku does care for his family, but he doesn't feel that he should express his feelings... Actually, Goku doesn't really know what he is supposed to do as a family man... everything he does for his familiy seem to come out of his instinct. His feelings towards his family are absoultely pure and inocent and he doesn't bother himself to struggle proving them. In Super however, he didn't really got a chance to shine his protecting insticts (save for the Pan episode, when he literally screams finding out that can't find Pan - but that's filler, methinks...)
