Was Goku really gonna kill Kaioshin?

I think he would've blasted him off somewhere like what Trunks did to Vegeta during the fight with Cell.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

That's just Kaioshin being an idiot per usual. During the Spaceship he wanted the pussy's way out by ganging up on Babidi's men rather just than blasting their way through the floors then Goku busting Dabura's skull in and jamming Vegeta's boot down Babidi's throat.

Speculation. Only the young Kaioshin is stated to be linked with Beerus.

That is a logical conclusion, however I will not take it as fact until it is confirmed.
For consistency's sake they could have been linked back then, but the link then passed on to the next generation of Kaioshin until the current one. But it does not have to be the Elder Kaioshin, there could after all have been other Kaioshin at the time, one of which Beerus could have been linked to.

No, just knock him out. But if circumstances were different and he had no choice, I would say yes. It was to show Goku's determination at getting that fight, perhaps to even also save the remaining people at the Tournament.
