Yes, if someone would be good enough answer all of Desire's questions with regards to this release, it might go to benefit a great many of us after all. Especially those of us who have largely ignored buying the American Dragonball sets and are looking for a good place to start.

It's just in Australia and I'm sure it's just a boxset of the first 6 Dragon Ball sets. If you think about it, that's not really special seeing as episodes 1-13 have been released uncut and bilingual over there already.jwimz wrote:jwimz wrote: Found it! When I read about this about a week ago, I was pretty ticked not really getting all the facts and started thinking, "Are you kidding me? Now I have to dish out $100 just to get the first 13 episodes of DragonBall Uncut?!?!" However, I'm glad to have learned it is being released in Australia, for I have the rest of DragonBall already, including the first 13 CUT episodes of DragonBall. However, to complete my collection I'm still waiting on the 13 UNCUT episodes. Which, may still be awhile before they are released here in America.
I'm not going to worry about it though because I'm already ticked off enough at the idea of having to get the DragonBall Z "Season One" box set just for about 20 epiodes I don't have. Not to mention the hassle of selling the Ultimate Uncut Editions ... and possibly the rest of my DragonBall Z collection.

Oh, I remeber that now. Daimao recomended him. Doesn't he go by the handle "Tomato"?BoxerGloves wrote:No. The English translations for Dragon Ball were provided by a guy named Clyde Mandelin, instead of Steve Simmons.desirecampbell wrote:Not necessarily usless. I might just have my collection completed by now if FUNimation wasn't soo ass-backwards in their releases.

Shabby. Heh
So I'm confused. Is the ENTIRE series being released on a box set? Or just the 13 episodes? If so, 80 bucks is a rip off for the 13 episodes, but cheap for the 153 of 'em.
I'll definately buy this as I am currently ashamed of the fact that I still have not completed my watching of Dragon Ball (nearly 100 episodes to go...wak!). So yes.
Now I just need to get some money!
Heh.

More extras. Seriously. FUNImation's doing a good job so far by including the TV spots and the movie, but still, we need more!

It's good news for me considering I have nothing except for a VHS of Movie 4. I'm waiting until this and the Ultimate Uncut sets are released before I start buying up the movies. I would rather get the large sets of episodes in one go then buying discs with three episodes on them one at a time. I'm also into bilingual audio tracks, cleaned up footage and featurettes.

To recap:
Here (http://www.dragonballz.com.au/index2.html) is the Madman site, detailing the release (click 'DragonBall' on the left, then 'release info', then scroll down on the right to 'Complete Col pt 1')
here's the release info
The boxset spans the first 83 episodes. So, about half of Dragnball. I think we can expect a second boxset with the remainder.

Deep within the core of the Earth a fire rages. Within the heart of this fire dwells the Eternal Dragon, a magical beast of limitless power that can be summoned from his fiery lair only when the seven magic Dragon Balls, now scattered over the face of the Earth, are found and brought together. When the seven magic Dragon Balls are united, the Eternal Dragon will appear before the adventurer who brought them together and grant that person a single wish.
Then, once more the balls will be scattered to the four winds, and the dragon beast will return to his fiery lair until another brave or foolish soul rediscovers the balls and tries to bring them together again.
Now meet Goku... a brave, innocent young boy with incredible powers, who is plunged into a mystical adventure in exotic lands. This normal little boy (if you count having a tail as normal, that is) and his collection of screwy friends are looking for the 7 almost mystical Dragon Balls with which one can summon a charmed Dragon who will grant a single wish!
See the adventure that launched the entire Dragonball Z series!

Ahh...makes much more sense now. I had thought it was the entire series. But this is all right. 80 bucks for 83 episodes is still a ripoff though. But heh, better it be a ripoff than too damn expensive....(*coughcoughcoughdragonboxescoughcoughcough*)The boxset spans the first 83 episodes. So, about half of Dragnball.
