The first Dragon Ball related DVD you owned?
I collected a whole slew of the VHS tapes for a while, the first one I had ever purchased being "Freeza - Transformation" before Season 3 was airing on Cartoon Network.
As far as DVDs go I can't fully remember...though more than likely it was one of the movies since I had begun to collect those. My first DVD of the actual -series- I believe was "Kid Buu - Price of Victory" because I wanted to see the final battle against Buu uncut and in Japanese.

First Dragonball related DVD I owned... Oh gosh, that's a hard one... But I do believe it a big chunch of single releases from both FUNi and Pioneer releases, that or I got the first Z Dragonbox first, but I do think I got the Pioneer dvd's before the first Z box.
Edit: If we're talking about VHS, I got a french dubbed VHS of the Broly movie in 94 or 95...

I'm pretty sure I picked up a dubbed Tree of Might disc years ago, but the first Dragon Ball DVD I still have is the Movies Dragon Box from Castor.
(é) Yeah, I'm famous. Super famous. I start things.

That was my first DVD. Bought in in 2003 I think. Very crappy release from Bridge Entertainment (Dutch distributor). It had Dutch subtitles printed on the film itself. Was cut and had only 4 episodes of the Saiyan saga on it. And they only released like 8 DVD's of DBZ. So in total there were only 32 episodes released here, so no use in keeping it to get the complete series. Sold it a while back when I started buying the season sets in 2007

My first DVD was the season sets.
But my first VHS is another story. I was young and I had heard all of these glorious rumors about "uncut" Dragon Ball Z. So I had a little birthday money left and I walked up to the local Games/VHS exchange store and looked around. What I found was a copy of the first three episodes of the Tournament saga (Dragon Ball, which I liked better than Z at the time). Brought it home and was fascinated at the two seconds of Uncut footage. The first was of seeing nipples on Roshi's porn mags, then the second was Goku saying that he had to touch a person to tell if they were a boy or a girl. I let all of my friends borrow it, but the same asshole who borrowed my VHS of Super Mario's Super Show never returned the Dragon Ball one either.
I should have learned.

The Pioneer trilogy (Z movies 1-3).

The first Dragon Ball Z-related DVD I ever owned would probably have to be the Pioneer release of Dead Zone--I remember Kami coming in to kick some Garlic ass, as well as Gohan getting drunk off the poisonous apples. When you're a kid, crazy upbeat Japanese songs kind of stick out in your mind. =P
I think Movie 2 was the only other one I had, but I never did like that movie.

I'm here with ya... I would only buy the movies as the DVD episodes at the time did not have the Japanese audio tracks. That changed once the Ginyu Saga was released.... got those, then they released the Trunks Saga. After that, I can't remember what order FUNI released any of the rest of the series (which was in NO WAY in order).Tweaker wrote:The first Dragon Ball Z-related DVD I ever owned would probably have to be the Pioneer release of Dead Zone.
Seeing these released on DVD along with a few cool movies is the probably the main reason I bought a DVD player early on when they were still 1st generation (that old thing still works great too... so it was money well spent).

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

This is my first DVD. At that time, you know, we had no DB related DVD in Japan yet.
Oh that's so rare! I wanted thatArika wrote:

The first video I bought was the VHS box of the Saga of Goku, back when original DB seemed like this mythical holy grail that I would never be able to see.
The first DVD I bought was... Garlic Jr. box set. Lame, sure, but I found it on sale, and back then I had intended to eventually own all of the singles.

Hey all, I'm new here. I think the first DVD I got was Super Android 13 and the only other one I ever got was A Hero's Legacy. I have since started collecting the orange bricks though. I knew back in the day that there would have to be a better way to buy the series other than 3-4 episodes per release so I always decided to wait.
As far as VHS goes I rented the 3 Pioneer movies from Blockbuster in the late nineties (98/99 I think?). I owned the first Trunks Saga VHS and I also paid S+H through some Burger King promotion to get 2 filler episodes from the Android Saga (one was the drivers license one, can't remember the other). I also had Cooler's Revenge on VHS.

I can't remember the first DVD I bought... it was a few episodes during the Cell saga. I think from the Super Vegeta/Final Flash episodes.
But the first DBZ Home Video I ever got (VHS tape) was of Pioneer's Dead Zone... and the second was History of Trunks on VHS (Funi). Both are still around somewhere.
