I think Kai would have been a lot better if they Got Kikuchi to do new compositions for it in the first place. The original score, while decent for the show, doesn't age well.

I would've liked to have heard Dragon Ball Kai with the entire Kikuchi Z BGM soundtrack (denied due to being mono) but new Kikuchi composed tracks certainly would be ideal, although since DBK was a quick cash cow for TOEI they couldn't really be bothered to pay for Kikuchi to produce them.

I think we're even lucky to have gotten DBK with Yamamoto at the very least. The replacement soundtrack of Kai is an embarrassment for Dragon Ball fans, Kikuchi fans and the show itself.

I'm certain that we won't see ocean kai this year.
It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

And for Shunsuke Kikuchi himself.

For something like Kai, you need to put in a full effort (whole new animation, like FMA: Brotherhood, as many of the original cast to return as possible.), This is a high-end product that cannot be done on the cheap (Funimation learned that lesson).

I still think it would be hilarious if Ocean got Sonny Strait in to do it.

It's unexpected, he's voiced a well-known character originally voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi, and he'd totally kick ass at it.

The replacement soundtrack of Kai is an embarrassment for Dragon Ball fans
Embarrassment is way too strong a word.

It's all recycled, even in DBZ, they constantly used the same cues. At worst you are hearing songs over again, but as long as you like the music, I still don't see any reason for the vehement hate that it gets.

I like to listen to these songs:

Ana Yuki - Let It Go
César Franco - La Fantástica Aventura (DB)
César Franco - Mi Corazón Encantado (DBGT)
Kenji Yamamoto - Braveheart Challenges the Strong (DBK)
Kenji Yamamoto - Gohan's Awakening (DBK)
Kenji Yamamoto - Battle Power Unlimited (DBZ)
Elfen Lied - Full Opening
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Full Opening
Soul Eater - Full Opening
Knife Party - LRAD
Knife Party - Power Glove
Knife Party - Bonfire
And so forth.

Regardless of how much I enjoy to listen to these tracks I often come to a limit which I just stop because they've become too repetitive to keep hearing it, and the same applies pretty much to any other out there. The music in the Recycled Kai is no different, Abed.

But the music is recycled in Z as well. It's very common to hear the same cues several episodes in a row.

Is this the studio with the high pitch sounding Goku? Also would you say these guys are better than Funi?
Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)
Kai >>> Z

High pitched Goku? Who? :eh:

I prefer the original "Ocean Dub" but I can't say anything about this as it hasn't been released.

He must be talking about Peter Kelamis.

To answer your question xmysticgohanx I personally think that Ocean at their best are almost as good as Funi while at their worst they are worse than Funi have ever been.

Hey, in case no one saw this:

Michael Dobson's listed Nappa for Dragonball Kai; under IPProductions/Ocean Sound. So that's something.

Not only that, but Dragon Ball Z is listed separately.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

At least it's something. Wish we knew who was Goku though, I'm more curious about that.

Am I missing something? A cntrl+f search for the word "Kai" isn't returning anything.
EDIT: Found it. Still didn't appear in a cntrl+f search though...odd.

Either way, I'm just hoping that we even get to see this dub. I have no doubt that work on this dub was actually done, way too many people have talked about it for it to be fake. However, I have joined the camp of people who believe we may not see this dub, because of how long it has taken. After four years, I just can't help but wonder if there's a logistical/legal/behind-the-scenes reason for this dub not airing.

Actually, I just thought of something...his credit listed IPProductions (in addition to Ocean Sound). So....IPProductions....that's interesting--at least now we know who's producing this dub! It has been a mystery, but I guess no longer. D'ya think they'd answer us if we asked what the status of the dub is? Probably not...but a guy can dream.

Hokay, I guess that means we now have another nickname to toss into the mix when it comes to unofficial nicknames of dubs (the Ocean dub, the Blue Water dub, the Westwood dub, etc.)...I guess the "Ocean dub" of Kai might end up being called the "IPProductions dub."
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Wonderful! It's about time they reveal the cast of the Kai dub.

Looking forward to who'll voice Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Freeza and Cell.

Dartanian Nickelback for Cell in this Kai dub? I wouldn't mind hearing him again on this dub even though he was on the FUNimation Kai dub already.

As long as it's not Dale Wilson, I'd be almost happy with anyone else.
