I think he had purple reddish blood.

EDIT: Here it is.

That's a great shot, the blood does definitely look a little more on the red side. But do consider, in the season sets there was some changes to the color contrast made, it may look a little more pinkish in season 3. :?

Hmm... I wonder if it's possible to mess around with the TV's contrast settings and "fix" it when you're watching.

Someone should get a shot from the remastered DVDs to compare.

Please remember that this is a thread specifically for discussing the upcoming DBGT boxsets. Thanks!

GT is pretty cool. If these are fullscreen, I'm getting them, mostly because I never bought the singles.

I wonder what will happen with the TV special. If these sets do end up in full screen I wonder if the TV special will as well, since FUNi calls it a "movie" instead. With the TV special being in widescreen it would look weird when comparing it to the actual episodes.

There's always the original release of the TV special. I'm holding onto mine just in case they screw it up somehow. You can pick it up used on Amazon for like 5 bucks.

I think that there's a small chance that the second Dragonball GT season set will contain the DBGT TV special because Funi is obviously trying to remaster and re-release everything from DB & DBZ & DBGT and it is too late to add the GT special to the DBZ TV specials release, and it doesn't seem like it would warrant an individual release. So the only place left for them to release a newly remastered version of the DBGT TV special is on it's own or with the second GT season set.

Amazon isn't selling it new anymore, so I guess it's out of print. Not an old release, so I'd bet on a rerelease. Here's my predictions:
1) It gets packaged in with DBZ movie 13 - They made a big deal out of these being "double features." It would be "remastered." That would be two birds, one stone for them.
2) The exact same (full screen) disc is released in packaging in line with their current releases.
3) It's in GT season 2. Not unimaginable. They don't seem concerned with separating GT by arc, and GT season 2 would still be less content than Z season 1.

I could see this happening, but Z and GT are two complete different series. When have they ever released GT and Z on the same disc or in the same set? I really doubt they would do that, the best decision would be to sell the speical seperatly so they can make more cash.

For GT I could careless if it's widescreen or fullscreen. But, from the looks of it, this will be fullscreen. So, I'm gonna buy these to complete my GT collection. Also, it looks like FUNimation's going with the 32 episodes for both seasons approach.

I know making DBZ wide-screen made no sense but making this wide-screen would really be weird. GT is only about 11 or 12 years old. I'd assume the masters that FUNi got would be in much better condition than their DBZ ones and therefore wouldn't need cropping. Still even if they are cropped I'll buy them.

Most likely. The only reason why Funi cropped it and went "OMFG MORE FOTAGE ON the SIDES" was because of all the damage. Hell, they might not even need to crop the Buu saga, but Funi's all about consistency now.

The thing that confuses me is that why they would release the series in fullscreen again when there's already a billingual full-screen release that has been out for like 3-4 years, apart from the english track with jap BGM.

I actually hope they go with widescreen, I love it more for some reason. I have to say that the footage on the sides is more important than the top and bottom, plus it would be confusing to release fullscreen products in the days of High Definition and HDTV.

You can have fullscreen HD.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Then why would they put the GT series in Fullscreen?

I know but it wouldn't look as good.

I'm not gonna rag on your opinion; if you like the widescreen better, then hey more power to you. But I gotta call out on the part I quoted above; I'm sorry but it's totally just outright not true in the case of a show like Dragon Ball/Z/GT.

The show was animated and fully intended for a fullscreen frame. It's a VERY old show that was made for TV loooong before concepts like "cinematic presentation" became a household buzzword, and the framing of each and every shot is a testament to this.

The picture that you gain on the sides is totally negligible, while meanwhile whole characters' heads are getting cut off like there's no tomorrow.

It's the flipside of having a theatrical movie that was filmed for a widescreen presentation panned and scanned into fullscreen. Which frame you get more picture with depends entirely upon how the footage was filmed and the director's intent. And in the case of DBZ, FUNi went the totally opposite route.

And like Raki already pointed out, it's entirely possible to have an HD picture in fullscreen (which evidently we're getting with the GT sets).

Please don't get me wrong, if that's how you enjoy it more, then whatever. Just let's not say things that aren't true from a technical standpoint.
I knew that it was originally shot in fullscreen, another option would be to
add black bars on the sides of the screen. lol Just like Wizard of Oz, I can't believe that is getting released on Blu-Ray. I'm not trying to change the topic but I just wanted to put that there.

Am I the only person who thinks that that trailer was playing on a wide screen tv, thus making the evidence in conclusive.
