Well, finally picked it up today. Best Buy didn't have it last week when I tried to buy it early. They price matched the Target printout so I was able to get it for $38 dollars. What a steal. Time to watch this thing.

This never got answered. Also, I have a new question. At what point, if ever, do the DragonBox episode colors match the original air date colors? Seeing as how each episode is a week or so younger than the episode before it, it would only be natural to assume that the whole pink skin stuff would be less apparent over time.Tyro wrote:I have a question about the video I posted earlier.
My roommate raised the point that the TV used to record the episode could have had any combination of settings, such as color, hue, brightness, etc., and since the series originated in the late 80's, the technology wasn't up to par with what we have now, so who's to say that the colors in the DragonBox aren't correct, or perhaps just a little off of what we could consider "true"?

To get the price match? I did it too. All I did was walk up the checkout with the Dragon Box/printout and told the cashier I wanted to price match it. "I'd like to price match this" or something like that.TheSonofKakarrot wrote:What exactly did you say?obiwan23s wrote:Well, finally picked it up today. For the record I am totally still loving that these default to Japanese.

Note that http://www.bestbuy.com still sells Dragon Box Z 1 for $69.99 What a rip off.obiwan23s wrote:Well, finally picked it up today. Best Buy didn't have it last week when I tried to buy it early. They still have no listing for the 2nd one...I wonder why at that price.

Stuff recorded on VHS isn't dependent on the settings the TV had while it was being recorded.Tyro wrote:I have a question about the video I posted earlier.

Well, the episodes would only be a "week younger" from the perspective of the viewers watching it on TV. It's quite likely that batches of episodes were produced at the same time, in order to allow for as little interruption in the broadcast schedule as possible. The overall quality would also need to take into account the quality of the source film stock.Tyro wrote:At what point, if ever, do the DragonBox episode colors match the original air date colors? Amazon (yes, Amazon) has estimated a Feb. 22 delivery date for my Dragon Box order.

Judging from the screenshots provided in this thread, it would appear that the reddish overtone is next to non-existent in this set. In the Saiyan arc episodes, if you took a shot into Photoshop and used the color dropper on white areas like eyes or armor, the resulting color would be a lavender color.Tyro wrote:This never got answered. *Lavender = Dragon Box
*White = Pure White
*Grey = Dragon Box (Greyscaled)
However, on the Namek episodes, the red overtone doesn't seem to be there, and the whites are a light gray color.

Has anyone brought up Master Roshis character profile in the book yet? I literally laughed out loud when I read it.

The quality depends on the recorder itself not the TV.desirecampbell wrote:What? Of course it is.Puto wrote:Stuff recorded on VHS isn't dependent on the settings the TV had while it was being recorded.
The color on the right is actually generationed and is basically what FUNi had back in the 90s.
Re: Dragon Box Z 2's Hands On Discussion
That's really interesting to say the least. Maybe I'll take a look at some comparisons on my TV to see if Goku's skin tone is still pink when he arrives on Namek. Looking at the video I posted, it's almost like Goku was supposed to look fairly white compared to his DragonBox counterpart.Metalwario64 wrote:Judging from the screenshots provided in this thread, it would appear that the reddish overtone is next to non-existent in this set. Something really funny happened today. For fun, I decided to watch DBZ Season 2 on my DVD Player on my Big Screen TV and something strange happened...it wound up looking really good. This is the same TV and setup I've been using for years, and it never looked that good. Ever. It's really strange. I guess it's because I've gotten used to watching DBZ in 4:3 again. without the black bars.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Hehe, got it today. A little late in my opinion but the package was better and my Dragon Box wasn't damaged this time.SSJSteve wrote:Awesome! The DVD's and Book look a lot more even which is really good, with my first Dbox the book sticks out a bit.I remember someone saying that there was quite a bit of yellow at the edge of the box, but it looks fine on mine!
Thank you AxelMusic! Cant wait to watch it.

Re: Dragon Box Z 2's Hands On Discussion
IGN have done a review for the second Dragon Ball Z Dragon Box. I posted the review they did for the first Dbox so I thought I'd post the second review.
IGN scored the second Dragon Ball Z Dragon Box: 7/10, the same score as the first Dbox.

Aside from the ignorant whining about grain, that was a pretty fair review.
