So, in terms of the Radditz picture comparison there appears to be a slight (albeit negligable) drop in video quality in Funimation's release, which isn't a big deal. I'd really appreciate it if someone could actually make a lossless 30 second video clip of one of the episodes. I've ordered the set myself but as I live in the UK I'll probably have to wait until Chrismas day before it arrives.

Just curious, and I don't think anyone's posted about it yet, but does the dub track have Head Cha La as the opening?

Yes, this was answered a while back. "Head Cha-La" is the opening for the dub. It's the original Japanese recording, however.Sanjiscool wrote:Just curious, and I don't think anyone's posted about it yet. Does the dub track have Head Cha La as the opening?

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

I'm guessing the world actually ended sometime earlier this year, and what we're seeing now is the beginning of a strange new world.Kunzait_83 wrote:Correct info... correct fucking info... from a FUNi DBZ product. Perhaps the world really IS going to end in 2012.

Well, since a lot has been asked and answered in the past. Here are some questions and answers. Hope it helps everyone and that I got everything right.
Audio
Type: Audio
Codec: a52
Language: Japanese
Channels: Mono
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 96 kb/s
Q:4:3 or 16:9?
A:4:3
Q:Episode per a disc?
A:42 episode on 6 disc, 7 episode a disc.
Q:So what did FUNi do for the Episode Previews on the Dub track? Did Kyle Hebert do some narrating? Or did they just switch it over to Japanese and not Dub it?
A:When I tried, it just skipped them all together.
Q:Anything special under the disc in the cases?
A:Under the discs is just the ruby-red holographic coloring with the disc number written in gold. No fancy/awesome arts.
Q:Is there any indication in the set, like in the Funimation catalog that comes with every DVD, about when the next one is going to be released?
A:Nothing in the catalog, no new trailers for the next Dragon Box or Dragon ball Season 3.
Q:Does the English track have the Japnese cha-la theme?
A:Yes!
Q:Region Codes?
A:1 and 4.
Q:What is in the Dragon book?
A:Goku's Early Days(recap of Dragon Ball), Profile of Goku Family(Son Goku, Son Gohan, Piccolo and Kuririn Profiles), Ultimate Character Relationship Chart, Dragon Box Z Vol. 1 Perfect Guide, Design Works Collection, History of Dragon Ball Z and Fashion Check.
Q:What is the size of the Dragon Box?
A:About the size of the season sets.

Q:Insert songs on the dub?
A:I only checked episode 20 and the insert song used there was removed and replaced with silence.
Q:Dub credits:
A:At the very end of the discs.
Q:Is the audio in the Dragon Box better than the Remastered Set Japanese option?
A:Yes.
Q:Run time?
A:1050 minutes.
Q:Audio Samples?
A:Dragon Box Season Set
Q:Unboxing?
A:Here

So were these extras stripped from the single disc versions? Or are the Dragonbox singles the exact same disc authoring as the boxset?Hujio wrote:For the DragonBall Dragon Box, they were on the last disc along with the last three episodes. I would like to address something about the next episode previews on the dub. Due to the way the DVD branching goes, if you just hit play (Japanese w/ subtitles) and hit the audio button on your DVD remote and turn off the subtitles as well, you will see that it plays the opening, part a, part b, and credits in English w/ Japanese score. After that, it goes to the next episode previews in Japanese.
Just gotta play around with it a bit. But really, you should just be watching it in Japanese. A lot less work

Here are some audio samples from the Kamehameha/Galic-ho battle.
Only took from ending of it or else would have been pretty big.
Season Set

DBOX

I did not change any settings on my computer or increase the volume.
Is it possible that anyone could grab this sound from the original DBOX?
The sound clip starts right after we see everyone in the Turtle Hermits house freak out when everything starts to explode.
