Interesting. So you think the scripts for the Dragon Ball Super anime were written by Toriyama?Kuririn Fan wrote:It's easy to dismiss the manga because its not the main product, not written by original creator and its a monthly promotional material for the anime.

No, but the drafts are, and anime and manga are both based on those, or something. So, if you want to read Toyotaros monthly promotional spin on those, go for it, man.LuckyCat wrote:Interesting. Just to be clear, both the manga and the anime are "spins" on the original work. There is a set of at least four writers that use Toriyama's outline and their own ideas to adapt to the anime format. Just like Toyotaro is doing for the manga.Kuririn Fan wrote:No, but the drafts are, and anime and manga are both based on those, or something. And if you want to skip it, that's fine too. But I don't think our personal media preferences were ever in debate.Kuririn Fan wrote:Cool, as i said, if you want to read monthly promotional manga, go for it.

I do like the anime, but as with the original Dragon Ball manga, there are some advantages to the written paper format.

Of course, but the original manga was different case, i like the manga even more than anime and i own it, of course, but it wasn't monthly and it wasn't a promotion. I just don't like when people threat this "manga" as a chapter 520 or something, that's all.LuckyCat wrote:And if you want to skip it, that's fine too. Re: Is Toriyama writing the Super manga?
Have people been doing that? I don't think anyone is confusing the original Dragon Ball manga with Toyotaro's new work here. It's just nice to have a manga option like we did all these years for the original anime. It doesn't matter if it's a "promo" or monthly or whatever, it's still something you can read at your own pace without electricity.Kuririn Fan wrote:Sure, but the original manga was a different case, i like the manga even more than anime and i own it, of course, but it wasn't monthly and it wasn't a promotion. Re: Is Toriyama writing the Super manga?
The manga's best merit, in my opinion, is that it's simply written by only one person. I'm not saying the anime is bad because of this. It's certainly been closer to Toriyama's version of the characters than a lot of the anime exclusive content prior, but no matter how hard the they try, having multiple writers is going to weaken the overall product to some extent because of how each one puts their own spin on the characters from episode to episode. It's not terrible, but it is noticeable.
Re: Is Toriyama writing the Super manga?
The Manga and the Anime are just the same if you think about it.Toyotaro are only allowed to release about 20 pages per month. If i were him,i would only include the important stuff and would ignore those little things.Maybe the Champa/Vados appearance in the anime was really Toriyama's idea and it was not included in the manga because Toyotaro had no space for it ? Who knows. We can't say everything that happened in the anime that never happened in the manga is not Toriyama's idea.
Re: Is Toriyama writing the Super manga?
Yeah, we pretty much agree that both material have slight differences but those insignificant variations by no means show that the basics of the manga and anime are different.VegettoEX wrote:That's not true at all, though, and is why it's a question in the first place. From the very beginning in chapter one we've had slightly different events/jokes, and starting in chapter two, Vados and Champa were introduced and integrated into the material loooooooooooong before they were in the TV version. Every single chapter has had differences that range from minor/insignificant to changing up dialog/events entirely.Miracles wrote:Does it really matter? The anime pretty much releases the same material as the manga.
