Vegeta flipping off
Moderators: Kanzenshuu Staff, General Help
Uh, am I in the right forum? I coulda sworn this place was for Dragonball. CALL ME CRAZY. Can we all just can the WWII talk before the staff has to step in? It's embarrassing for the rest of us.
So...Vegeta, middle fingers. Yamcha, many others. I don't know what to say really. This topic is someone exhausted of interest.
I find it humorous that Tenshinhan returned the finger by breaking Yamcha's leg.

You didn't read the link I gave you, right? ^^;Jerseymilk wrote:It was just as much the stubborness of Japan's military leaders that caused the bombings. Remember, it took *2* bombs.
It's just that US war crimes are glossed on quite a bit...my point earlier that you quoted me on, was made more to show the original poster that his argument with comparing the Iraq War with the Second World War makes absolutely no sense. He was making it seem like the Americans were these awful war tyrants during their fight with the Japanese.
Like it was pointed out in the link I provided above, if Germany had developed and used the two atomic bombs prior to its defeat, it would probably have been called a "crime against humanity"...
I'm not saying I completely agree with COCONUT MILK or the way he puts things, but there's definitely an argument to be made against the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That's all I wanted to say. And if that's playing "devil's advocate", well damn.I understand that you seem to often feel you should play "devil's advocate" in debates, but don't mistake a person's ignorance and generalization of a subject by defending them.
Anyway, yes, it's completely off-topic, sorry. I just thought the opposite argument really had to be made.

Anyhow, for every action, there is a reaction. They bombed Pearl Harbor, and they should have known something was going to happen. I don't want to say they deserved it, but well...basically it. Civilians had nothing to do with it though sadly.

Huh? I thought the scene in question was near the Grand Elder's place several episodes later, with Vegeta's gesture directed at Kuririn rather than the Namekians.SuperVegito17 wrote:yup vegeta flips of at the Namek villagers when he attacks the Namekians of the village which had the 4 star dragonball
He does it while in the village, too? I need to rewatch those episodes, because I don't remember that.

My opinion is that "rape" doesn' fit at all to describe a huge chapter in Japan's history leaving many people dead.Olivier Hague wrote:I wouldn't consider rape worse than an atomic bombing, so we'll have to disagree about that, I guess.Rocketman wrote:Yes.Olivier Hague wrote:Is "rape" too strong for an atomic bombing, really? ^^;
The same counts for Pearl Harbor. It would be inappropriate to say "The Japanese raped the soldiers in Pearl Harbor with their atom-bombs".
Using "rape" to describe what happened is immature and wrong.
It should be used where it fits most, as an sexual assault:
And before someone says "it says carry off there too!!!111"; wouldn't it just be better to use "carry off" instead?Dictionary.org wrote:rape1 /reɪp/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[reyp] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation noun, verb, raped, rap·ing.
–noun
1. the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse.
2. any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person.
3. statutory rape.
4. an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: the rape of the countryside.
5. Archaic. the act of seizing and carrying off by force.
–verb (used with object)
6. to force to have sexual intercourse.
7. to plunder (a place); despoil.
8. to seize, take, or carry off by force.
–verb (used without object)
9. to commit rape.
And yeah, my use of swearwords before is nonetheless immature to, but I admit that.

But you did say that you considered "rape" too strong for an atomic bombing. Not "inadequate" or anything. "Too strong."Rocketman wrote:I wouldn't consider an a-bombing worse than the Red Giant Sun engulfing the charred and ruined Earth, either, but I wouldn't use the first term to describe the second.
I think that's interesting.

Not that I can't appreciate a cerebral debate of this nature, but . . . is there any DragonBall left in this thread, or . . . ?
