Except when they start to zoom in, it's especially funny in the season 3 set. More then once the camera zooms in on nothing. It was supposed to be drawing closer to the characters but something happened making it seem like some rock in the distance was very important.

From the UUE DVD Conan sent me this year. Power DVD was being a pain in the neck with trying to find the right scene to snag a snapshot, so I'm not sure if it's the best shot or not:

lol Yeah well the footage difference (sides, top, bottom) we're talking about between the FUNimation singles and the Dragon Box is really insignificant. BUT the top and bottom footage from the "Remastered" crap is very significant really.

Basically, if you have the FUNimation singles and you're feeling down because you think that Dragon Box has better footage, here's what you do. I was also feeling downsome because the FUNimation singles are all grainy and whatnot. First, you turn the Sharpness down. This smoothens out the picture like you wouldn't believe. And it doesn't look blurry really. Now, if you like the colors of the Dragon Box, all you have to do is tinker around with the color and brightness/contrast until it gets there. That's what I did and now I can enjoy my singles. Flip on the Japanese track and bam, Dragon Box lol Except yeah, the Japanese track isn't as crisp in the singles, but hey, what can you expect? Those the audio files they were given and dammit that's what they used lol Plus, when I used to watch the dub on TV, i hated it. I thought it was horrible. For some reason, on the DVDs, they sound pretty good. Even the Frieza Saga that I cringed at while watching it on TV, for some reason on the DVDs, it doesn't sound all that bad. Not like it did on TV anyway. Ohs well. To be honest, unless you listen to the series in surround sound, stereo is better. It's louder. Now if you're watching the series with surround sound, then yeah, it's worth it for the 5.1...which was in the Ultimate Uncut only. Ohs well.

By the way, I wasn't on here during Christmas time, but I hope everyone had a merry Christmas. And I hope everyone has a great New Years 2008 :)

Hey I have a question. How do you take Snapshots from Power DVD? I have it and I have to use some bootleg VCL crap that I downloaded from somewhere. It works like garbage. They don't even have track separators. The entire DVD runs on one bar (you know the bar that says how much of video is left? The entire DVD is in the single bar so it's a pain in the ass). Plus, how do you make the picture that small to click on? I tried but it didn't come out. Call me computer ignorant lol Thanks

With mine, my PowerDVD will let me take snapshots just by pressing the C key. But, before you do that you'll want to know where it's sending the pic. On your play bar (the one with the two opitional additional sides on the left and right), click Options I think it says, then advanced, and then snapshots. It'll have a section where you designate where you want the pics to go, so fix that up for ya.

PM me if you can't figure it out, and I'll open mine up and walk you through it a little better.

I use Power DVD 6, and yeah, that one bar thing was what I was having a pain in the ass about.

Screenshots? Click this (Mine is faded out because I don't have a DVD in at the moment). Basically it just takes a snapshot and copies it into the clipboard.
Then paste into an art program, such as Paint, Photoshop, or something else, then save it.:

Image url? It's simple. Just do this without the spaces. Just try it out in the post preview to make sure you get it right.

"Bootleg VLC crap"? What? Since when is freeware software a bootleg?

And it's not just a DVD player, anyway. It's an all-around media player, and probably one of the best ones there are for Windows, along with Media Player Classic. Playing DVDs are just one capability of it; it's not a straight-up DVD player like PowerDVD or WinDVD or something.

Magica's explanation is a HELL of a lot clearer than mine, LOL. It makes it easier to describe what I was trying to explain earlier to. :D

That picture he posted is the bar I was talking about. The button he circled is the button for snapshots, but you can also press the C key like I said. Two buttons to the right, the one with the hammer and screwdriver on it, is the button to look where you'll be saving your screencaps to.

Oh, sorry about that. For some reason I refer to people on the internet as a 'he' by default. :P I'll try to remember that in future posts.

Yeah, Configuration, that's the word I was looking for! I know what I'm trying to say, but I can't get it out.

Now I WOULD be interested to see if it existed in the UUE DVDs.
Yup. That's the exact frame. It's not a blip either - no shine on the armor in that scene at all.

For everyone that tired to help me out, thanks a lot. And I didn't say that VLC Player was bootleg, the one I have is bootleg. It's just something I downloaded from a link. It's horrible, but that's the only one that I got that takes screenshots. My Power DVD doesn't. Ohs well. Thanks anyway.

Like Triplerach asked earlier, how can you have a bootleg of something that's freeware?
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

Not literally bootleg. When I say bootleg, I just basically mean something that's crap. I personally hate it. Sure it can play other media, but all I want it to play is DVDs and it does it horribly. I press pause and it pauses it alright, a second after I press pause.

Why anyone is trying to take frame-accurate screen-caps in anything that doesn't allow you to progress frame-by-frame is beyond me...

Although many of the comments in this thread are starting to kill me... Quite frankly TheGreatness25, you're starting to kill me... I really don't know what else I can possibly say. Every single thing speaks for itself. I simply don't know how else to succinctly and politely put it.

...What is it exactly that I said that kills you? I don't get it. What's your problem? What did I say this time?

I come on here, I provide a picture that was requested by someone to compare, I wish everyone a happy New Years, say that I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and what? I ask for help in screenshots and I'm "killing you"? Or is it because I said that if you adjust the sharpness and color/brightness that you can get your FUNimation footage to look like Dragon Box? Because that's frickin true first of all. Second of all, I did it in a joking manner. And third of all, I'm sick of trying to be nice to people and still have them pick apart everything I say to find something to criticize. Even if you don't agree with what I have to say most of the time, I didn't do anything today that justified you singling me out like that. What's your problem anyway? God maybe I should come on here, say that the Dragon Box is the greatest thing of all time. Maybe that's the only way I could get some of you to be nice to me. God it's just a cartoon. Get over it. Instead of talking about what you like about it, most people on here talk about what they hate about it, or about versions of it. Please, just let me know what it is that's killing you. My God.

It is. I can also make any Sega Genesis game look better than anything on the PS3 by turning up the sharpness really high. It's awesome.

Really frickin high.

Um okay. Well I was in a good mood and trying to be nice to everyone. Right? I was having a nice friendly convo with a few of the other members. And yet, here you guys come. Whooptie doo. Well now you're here. You just never have lack of anything to say do you? I said that comment about the sharpness and whatnot in a joking manner. And besides, that is how I watch it, with the sharpness down, so I'm just telling people. So? And what? You still always have to pick something out in what I say. Makes you feel like a hero? I don't know why you think that to feel special, you have to be...well I don't want to say anything bad about you. I don't know you and you don't know me and I want to be respectful to you. So if I said anything you don't like, I'm sorry. Even though I don't have to apologize for anything to you or to anyone. I'm still going to choose to because I'm not on here to make enemies.

So I'm extending the proverbial olive branch here.

I'm not as caught up on this topic as I would like to be so I'll adress a few things that I feel are worthy.

An easy quide on taking screencaps with PowerDVD. It's old but it works. I no longer use it my self, I do all my screencaps with VirtualDubMod and use Paint.NET to save the lossless PNG's.

Got Firefox? Use ImageBot to upload images in bulk to Image Shack or Photobucket. You get the cool little thumbnails too so you don't stretch the damn page to down to hell. Saves on load time for our 56k friends as well.

Lossless images from the UUE's which correspond to Toreto's and Desire's screencaps from the Dragon Box Singles and the Season Sets, respectively. I IVTC'd the footage and used bicubic resize to get the OAR blah, blah, blah. I'm having a bad day.
