Turning out to be quite a big year DB-wise...movie as well (year starting about now considering the change of movie release date). Oh and YAY for new DB anime...now just watch as they throw it back in our face somehow...

judging from the scan, the "unnamed additional specials" will undoubtedly be Bleach and Gintama.

Sounds awesome but I can't help but think this could be just a One Piece and Dragon Ball crossover(Maybe Cross Epoch animated).

I hope it's a new special instead of just a clip show.

I was very excited to read about this on the main page. I'm going to try to go into this as cold as possible, or at leas as spoiler-free as possible until the American release (however far away it might be). Of course, the key word is "try" and I can't wait for more developments.

I'm with Hero 004 on this one. Going to try to avoid info on this until a fansub is available. Then I'll buy it of course when it comes out in the USA. But please, if anybody finds out anything on the plot, post it in a separate, *spoiler* specified thread, please!

I know everyone is going to disagree with me here but Dragon Ball updated in digital animation just doesn't look right to me. The openings for Budokai 2 and 3 just looked too polished. Also is there any word on this being a 'Z' special or will it simply be Dragon Ball?

Well, they're showing a bunch of pictures of Super Saiyan Goku. But then again, it's probably just to illustrate that it's Dragon Ball related.

They showed SSJ Goku in the promo, so it's obviously a Z special.

They probably aren't using the "Z" for promotion because they're Shounen Jump, publisher of the manga, not Toei, creators of the anime. The artwork used in the promotional material also seems to be from the manga, not anime.

I really hope this isn't a cross over. I mean sure, those are all well and good but that's really the only DragonBall related stuff we've been getting out of Japan lately.

I agree but I don't think we have a choice. It's just how traditional animation is done now :? . This also bring up the question of how long it will take FUNimation to dub this.

Anyone else assume that this'll be exactly like the One-Piece/DBZ special productions they did?

If you're talking about that special animated OP/DBZ cross-over, I actually liked that. I thought it was pretty neat how Luffy spun Goku around while he did his Kamehameha.

Nice Stuff(The news AND that crossover.)

I've looked for reports of similar events in the past, and Naruto got a 17 min and a 40 min special out of shounen jumps events. So, I'll be surprised if DB gets only a 5 min segment.

Ah, but remember, this isn't the U.S. where Naruto reigns supreme; this is Japan (where One Piece does.). I'm sure they'll give DB a decently sized special. I'm very positive they will.

As much as Toei has screwed up aspects of things like GT, I have faith that they love DB enough and financially recognize the nostalgia factor of it enough that they'll do a really good job. :3

Really? Is One Piece the more popular of the two in Japan? Good. I just recently tried reading each. Naruto was a chore: I gave up partway through the Journeyman ninja exams. There was no character building. One Piece is awesome. I'm just past the Alabasta arc.

Regardless, I'd rather see something akin to a DB tv special: something that is cannon with the DBZ tv series. Maybe a self-contained story revolving around Uub's training under Son Sensei?! Probably just wishful thinking.

One Piece is huge in Japan. Naruto does have plenty of character development, it just takes much longer to get there by the way. 8)
