Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
But Yamcha has been a joke in DBS so far, winning the baseball game with his famous pose and his current subplot in being recruited for the ToP.
Gohan has been the complete opposite, he has gotten the most screentime out of any Z-fighter in this arc, they have rebuilt him to the point he might surpass Kaioken SSJB Goku in the upcoming episode.(We only know that he will force Goku use Blue).
Gohan is barely in the manga because thats how Toriyama wanted it

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I personally don't understand why they can't stay for as long as they like in this time period. If One Piece can go for 20 years with only a 2 year passage of time, then Super can do whatever it wants.
Of course, this is simply my opinion, and is to be taken as such, but I don't see why they can't mention no passage of time, and just keep going. I'd like to think we could get 4 Arcs per year. I believe Age 781 (early) is where we currently are? if that is the case, then they have best part of 4 years to play with - the boys can, and will likely age up around 783, and we could get 3 or 4 Story Arcs set before the Tournament with them being a big part of the team.
I would like to think we will get at least another 200 episodes before the 28th World Tournament. There is no reason for them to mention passage of time unless they want to age certain characters, as the timeline (set aside one WT in 781) which they may, or may not choose to do something with - seeing as we already know the outcome, it maybe a Toei "filler" Arc like the Potaufeu one, or they could make it mean something like the Buu Arc, where something happens and the main characters get called away, leaving Buu and Satan to come to an understanding, much like Mr. Satan did with 18.
As long as the merchandise keeps selling like it is, unless Toriyama-Sensei decides he's had enough, I don't see this stopping, or slowing any time soon.

He wrote Dragonball af where Gohan had a pretty good role. It's just that Gohan hasn't been prominent in Toriyamas outlines, so it's not Toyotouros fault.BlueBasilisk wrote:Would also mean much less Gohan. He's barely been in the manga at all. I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Both Gohan and Buu should have fought in the Champa tournament. Monaka was just a silly gag that wasn't even that good.
The whole first half of Super only focusing on Goku/Vegeta and to a lesser extent Trunks was absurd. I can't believe it's taking THIS LONG to finally bring the other characters back into the spotlight. And even then they're still screwing over Buu, Trunks/Goten and Yamcha so it's still not perfect.

He'll probably do the same things they're doing now in terms of the fan service, the only difference is that Toriyama is a good writer so he can take those ideas that wouldn't normally work and make them work.Totamo wrote:I have read AF, no matter how bad dragon ball may seem now, it will only get far worse in hands of a fanfic writer.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Basically this. Monaka didn't make the champa arc more interesting at all. He was discount Mr Satan. Boo and Gohan would've made it much more interesting and unique of an arc.precita wrote:Both Gohan and Buu should have fought in the Champa tournament. Episode 90 is about to kill power scaling. Tien better get one hit. Gohan's stupid boost is in line with Trunks, so it's just more of the same BS there, but Tien.... oh god.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Those are the 2 most popular characters, it makes sense that the series would focus only on them, if you watched z were only the saiyans mattered in the buu saga and where all of them failed, this should not surprise you.precita wrote:Both Gohan and Buu should have fought in the Champa tournament. They have the excuse of being hybrids.Beyond wrote:Episode 90 is about to kill power scaling. Tien better get one hit. Gohan's stupid boost is in line with Trunks, so it's just more of the same BS there, but Tien.... oh god.
The thing with Tenshinhan is worrysome, if he looks good vs Piccolo then that should mean Roshi is also in the same tier after he stomped him last week.
Its Toriyamas fault for the horrible Roshi retcon.
Next week it might be worse because we get the last chapter of the Trunks Arc.

Vegeta is way closer to Gohan, Piccolo and Future Trunks in popularity. This is based on the most popular way of determining popularity.Totamo wrote:Those are the 2 most popular characters, it makes sense that the series would focus only on them, if you watched z were only the saiyans mattered in the buu saga and where all of them failed, this should not surprise you.precita wrote:Both Gohan and Buu should have fought in the Champa tournament. This is nothing to worry about as they seem to want to go to a more skill based fighting show. At first it will make no sense but after a while it will become normal just like how Dragon ball went from a skilled based show to power based before.perucho1990 wrote:They have the excuse of being hybrids.Beyond wrote:Episode 90 is about to kill power scaling. Next arc everyone will be used to it so it won't be as much of a problem.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I wish they'd do a new popularity poll.
I'd want to guess that we'll see more of Trunks and Goten if we ever do a hop to EoZ.
Yamcha being teased without a payoff for him seems mean. That's part of why I'd like it to be him instead of Freeza. The gags at his expense would actually make sense beyond being mean for the sake of it.

When was the last popularity poll for this series? Has there been any recent ones?

If I remember correctly, it was 1997.Boo Machine wrote:When was the last popularity poll for this series? Has there been any recent ones?
I remember the top 4 were in this order
Goku
Vegeta
Gohan
Future Trunks
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
With Dragon Ball Online content being heavily marketed through Xenoverse and Heroes, are Toyotaro and Toriyama really serious when they say they don't know what to do after end of Z even though they have a mine of gold/content right in front of their eyes?
The marketing Heroes and Xenoverse do should be enough for Toriyama to remember all the things he has done and contributed to Dragon Ball Online... Use it. Expand the series in the best way.

Does anyone know if we are getting a couple of shots of this week's episode in a couple of hours like we've been getting lately?
