A show like Super not making the cut is no surprising, despite how toned down it is from Z.
Edit: It would also seem like the UK's trying to go threw a new era of forced censorship and prohibition, which is really funny. We had this kind of bs years ago back in the 80's and it failed hard then and in this day and age its going to fail even harder.
I'm pretty much resigned to the fact the UK will not be seeing Super on TV screens for a long time.
There doesn't seem to be any children's network that actually wants to take it - if it weren't for the fact that here in the UK, regardless of the time of day, all children's programming on kids channels must be appropriate for all ages, we would have a better chance.
It's been one hell of a ride, but it is now over. RIP Dragon Ball on UK Television 2000 - 2016.
There is a new trailer for Super and Kai The Final Chapters on Toonami's website

The best way to fix the giant cancer that is the DB Wiki is to provide an alternative for those who really want it. Even those who prefer dub names will wind up looking things up on the Kanzenshuu Wiki. Because sooner or later, they're going to need information they know they can trust.

Did they change Goten's VA for Super? Not liking how he sounds there. And I was really hoping they would stop referring to Beerus as "Beerus the Destroyer".

Yeah, why do they do that?
I'm just a DB fan that's in the grey area that exists between an Hardcore Fanboy and a Casual

It's a perfectly valid translation. Anyway it's because of mouth flaps in Japanese 'God of Destruction' three words is simply the one word 'Hakaishin'.

Nope, it's still Kara Edwards as Goten, Trunks' VA was changed from Laura Bailey to Alexis Tipton

You guys got Kai in the UK, right? I wouldn't know because I haven't lived there since 2003. Also, since there is seemingly no place for anime on Canadian TV anymore and you have to watch it on Crunchyroll if you want to see it, then Canada gets the short end of the stick too.

We did get Kai on Kix (a channel owned by Sony) back in early 2013, but all the major networks have since rejected Super for being "too violent".
I'm sorry it looks like you guys over in Canada won't be getting it either.

How was it being too violent? Canada has not aired any single anime (apart from Teletoon) on television since 2010. Is that something to do with some content change? I noticed Netflix now has the Canadian rights to Pokemon XY.
Long story short, in the United States, there hasn't a single anime program on Saturday mornings ever since the "e/i" mandated programs were aired in place.
Does that mean there's no more Dragon Ball in the British Commonwealth?

That one shout Trunks did sounded exactly like Laura Bailey though, at least to me
precita wrote:Was the music in those clips the same as Japanese's Super music? So no dub soundtrack, right?
That's correct. FUNimation has been done with dub soundtracks (or, at least, done with making new ones) for over a decade now. Dub soundtracks for other shows still exist here and there, but the growing consensus is that it's a dated practice.
I'm glad they are not changing the soundtrack for the Funimation dub. I legitimately like the Super soundtrack.
"Lord Beers, what are those?? Do they taste like root beer?" ~ Goku
It sounds a lot less forced and a little bit lighter and more child-like. Kudos to Kara Edwards for that one!
I don't it sound too feminine and barely similar at all too his old voice, similar to the situation on how Gohan's voice retcast in Kai sounded. Better acting at the expense of a less appealing voice over, I can get use to it though.
simtek34 wrote:Since Toonami is airing Super, I think that Super will air on U.K. TV using FUNi's backup censored dub. Or will Super even air there at all?
No, it won't. Jerome Mazandarani, head of MangaUK, confirmed back in October during a brand licensing event that Super got turned down by every major TV channel in the UK because it was seen as "too violent" and "not the kind of show they were looking for". Which is total horseshit, but, there you go.
Haha.. WOW! If DB Super is SO violent - what the heck kinds of shows are there for some of the slightly older kids going to middle school and later elementary?
