Can someone tell me the origin of this term "weaboo"...? I pretend to know a little bit about internet culture, but in general, I tend to hate it and don't actually understand it

.
Additionally, many of you have heard my rants on today's usage of the term "emo"...
From UD.
1. Weeaboo
A game whereby the one who is caught saying the word weeaboo must be chained to a pipe and paddled by all around him/her. Those with the paddles must chant weeaboo until the paddling is finished and the one chained to a pipe is released.
2. Weeaboo
Someone who is obsessed with Japan/Japanese Culture/Anime, etc. and attempts to act as if they were Japanese, even though they're far from it. They use Japanese words but usually end up pronouncing them wrong and sounding like total assholes. You can find a lot of these faggots clogging up the forums of Gaia Online, hanging out in the international aisle of the supermarket, or crowding the manga section of your local bookstore. Synonym of wapanese.
I told that weeaboo girl over there that Inuyasha sucks. She slapped me across the face and proceded to cuss me out in Japanese.
Or you can check out the reliable source Encyclopedia Dramatica...
I kinda hate Internet culture too and the ignourence of it, last night I saw something about Rickrolling the news saying it started this year, it's almost 2 years old already, and it's the satan spawn of
Duckrolling.

"Emo" kids are upset because their music sucks....anyway, I saw the trailer without sound, looks good enough for me. For those who are saying they are going to see DB just to make fun of it, that sounds like a waste of money. People actually pay about 8 or 9 bucks just so they laugh at it, make a scene around people trying to pay attention, and possibly get thrown out. That doesn't make sense, if you do that your just giving money to 20th century Fox to make another DB movie. But the way this movie looks, by all means everybody, go to the theater and bash the movie, give the studio your money, I want to see DBZ.

OK now, the Trailer proved every one of my fears to be true.
It's your every day stereotypical American Super Hero movie and nothing more. First of all Goku uttered the line "I don't think I'm ready for this"...This is a Goku who is doubting in his own abilities and will not have confidence in himself from what it seems. The delivery of that line was far different from any other time that Goku has realized he was outmatched in the series.
Then of course...The kiss scene...I freakin knew it. I knew they'd have to throw mushy stuff in there...The exact opposite of Goku. This movie is not DragonBall and is not Goku. People have been telling me all this time to wait for the trailer before I judge it so harshly and now I've seen the Trailer. All it's done is confirm every fear I had.
I don't need to wait to see the movie before I decide it's bad anymore. Most people judge what movies they'll see by the Trailer and all this trailer showed me was that it's trying to appeal to a Teenage Super Hero crowd.

I haven’t. I’m actually rather curious now, as someone else who’s ranted on at length about the over/misuse of the word for years now.
Was it on a podcast ep, or was it on a thread here on the forums that can perhaps be linked to?

The Nyoibo actually does shoot bullets in the Korean live-action DB movie, apparently because they didn't have the budget to make it extend properly.

If people stopped paying for [Parody] Movie, they’d (thankfully) disappear.
Exactly my point. It's "helping" Hollywood get money, but it's "killing" it in the sense that they're churning out the same kinds of movies. And those are really an entirely different beast than "Dragon Ball The Movie."

For the tenth time the sports car belongs to the BULLY!

I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Trust me, I see the irony too.
But this movie is shaping up to make FUNi's Season 3 look like the most faithful adaption ever.

The way I see it, it's all the same stereotyped tripe.
I know, I know, the
Dragon Ball movie isn't out yet, but as mrkaizoku asked (and as I did twice before), why would one look forward to it, based on what we've seen/heard so far?

This thread moves to quickly. Anyway, people are bringing that up again on other forums and Youtube. Not here.
Also, I feel really bad for all the actors in this movie, solely because of how many assholes on the internet are being total douchebags about a movie they haven't even seen yet. What if the movie is really good? Hmm? What if? Maybe not a perfect DB adaptation, but still a solid, worth watching film? Then the actors deserve some credit and praise. And all this bullshit that people have been spewing on the net will look ridiculous. I really hope so.

Regardless though, I do hope that this experience with the live action flick helps you to see some of our old debates from the opposing point of view.
Cause everything you said earlier about the trailer basically sums up my own as well as just about every old school pre-Saban/FUNimation fan's exact feelings on the dub, except replace “pandering to the teen superhero crowd” with “pandering to the U.S. action kiddy cartoon crowd”.

I've always agreed with you that some aspects were changed and that the feel and spirit of the series was changed completely. All I was trying to point out was that the plot for the most part is the same.
