Just saying, I trust his intuition as somebody who works in that environment, sees and hears this stuff happen, and has professed his dislike for stunt casting etcetera, more than comments from people on the internet with absolutely no experience.

Calling it. Karin and Birusu are related.

I didnt think about that. Perhaps he said what he said because he feels funi might drop the franchise... although I think theyd be dumb to let it go even at this point.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Yeah, but let's face it, there's no way in HFIL (I had toHellspawn28 wrote:Their rights come to a end next year and yet they said nothing about the film. I'm hoping we will hear something later during the spring or summer.Gyt Kaliba wrote: I do kind of expect FUNi to announce a license for this fairly shortly after it comes out.) that they're not gonna re-license the series. That's pretty much a given I feel, regardless of what happens in regards to this movie.

Outside of Ghibli stuff, which gets limited runs... what was the last anime that had stunt casting?Majin Steve wrote:Just saying, I trust his intuition as somebody who works in that environment, sees and hears this stuff happen, and has professed his dislike for stunt casting etcetera, more than comments from people on the internet with absolutely no experience.
Stunt casting is done when there is a belief it can add to the box office, or add prestige. Neither of which is likely to happen with DBZ.
And considering he's openly said he has NO info, that equates to a guess. A guess with no information is no more valid from him than anyone else with no information behind it.
The same guy has given info/guesses that haven't panned out (that Ocean Kai dub with all the crazy music changes sure has been long in coming.) If his prior guesses were right, then you could argue his quality of guesses is at least good, but his scorecard reads zero, 0, bagel...
For the record though, I'd pay good money for a dub that had Samuel L. Jackson as Piccolo, but my guess (based on nothing but years of being an anime pundit) is that whether it's Funimation, Fox, a company affiliated with Fox, or anyone else... I'd expect it'll be Chris Sabat.
(I would also pay good money for a dub of the film where everyone is voiced by Chris Sabat, but I'm not expecting that either.)

Only if Christ Sabat sang the theme.
The Ocean Dub does seem to be in production tho.

Kaioshin has only been mentioned in this pre-movie build-up, right? And there's supposedly something to do with Makaioshin, or at least the World Tree (Is it spelled Kai-ju?) in the film. So you'd think he'd have a pretty important role here and if that's the case then Toei must be keeping his role under wraps.
I wonder...

If there ain't a DBZ in front of movie, I tend to lump them all together. I'm the only one that does that, so don't worry.
How do you guys think the film's gonna end? Not talking about the climax, but rather the aftermath and how the film moves into the credits sequence. I get the feeling it's just gonna be the typical laughing, but something like a shot of Vegeta staring into space in complete silence as the camera slowly zooms out would be nice.

It's already been confirmed that they were turned to children.soulnova wrote:Hey guys, has anyone speculated that maybe they are not THE Pilaf gang but actually their own children? xD And they see the Z-gang as a bunch of scary powerful freaks that terrorized their parents in youth?

Avenged confirmed this. He asked a guy from Fox, and that's what he said him.bleed0range wrote:Where did we hear that from?DBZGTKOSDH wrote:The movie isn't even out in Japan yet, and we were already told from Fox that the movie will probably come out in DVD in US and not in cinemas, so Schemmel shouldn't have any idea at this point.Majin Steve wrote:Fan speculation from a professional in the industry of dubbing anime.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

We don't actually know if those things will be in the film. It's still just fan speculation.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:And there's supposedly something to do with Makaioshin, or at least the World Tree (Is it spelled Kai-ju?) in the film.

Gyuumao, the very first bara hipster.

Poor Chaozu has no seiyuu credited on his page, which probably means that he has no lines in the movie.

I'm really, really hoping it's just an oversight because I'd love to hear Hiroko Emori reprise Chaozu.kei17 wrote:Poor Chaozu has no seiyuu credited on his page, which probably means that he has no lines in the movie.
I loved that he got to be "part of the gang" in DBZ movie 03. I was hoping to see more of that here, so I'll be severely disappointed if he doesn't even talk. I mean, c'mon. Look at the cast list. Everyone's talking. Gyūmaō's talking, for crying out loud. Give Chaozu something.

It would be awesome if they did a screening for the movie at Otakon. We could have a Kanzenshuu meet up and see the movie. Then we can all get drunk after the movie is over

The new running joke will be that every time Chaozu is about to speak somebody cuts him off.kei17 wrote:Poor Chaozu has no seiyuu credited on his page, which probably means that he has no lines in the movie.
With all the speaking characters at this point, I'm almost not surprised that they're not bringing Emori in. We don't even know how many background actors will be called in yet, either!

That had occurred to me, but I'd like to leave a little hope that he'll have at least one line. I mean, they gave Pu'er at least some lines... apparently.kei17 wrote:Poor Chaozu has no seiyuu credited on his page, which probably means that he has no lines in the movie.

I was saying that the first instance I found out Goku and co were going to fight a god (considering two of the three manga arcs in the original manga were named after, and involved, fighting Poseidon and Hades), that would just make me more clear (given Toei's love to crossover their own franchises with Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, maybe we'll get this one).JeffJarrett wrote:That sounds too similar to a Saint Seiya plot (Abel, Poseidon, etc.)Kaboom wrote:What... what if there's something going on where Whis hates the mortal universe as it is, and wants to "start over" and recreate it. I've already decided to edit audio from the fifth Saint Seiya movie (Tenkai-Hen: Overture) into any Yamucha scenes I can get (considering Tohru Furuya's a god killer when he's not busy being an ex-bandit).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wc--lwc3XM#t=6m48s
On the matter of the battle itself, does anyone else want the movie not to end with Fusion winning? I know SSJ3 Goku might not work at first...but I'd love to see a new ending to a movie, maybe a clever bit of team work...or Hell, Mr. Satan could actually save the day (instead of buying time, he tricks Bils to leave while everyone else in down...or, he gets lucky, and lands a blow in Bils' one weak point purely by accident).
Of course, Vegeta getting a win for once in a movie would be nice (he's bound to bust out SSJ3, just to prove he wasn't going to let Goku win...of course, then, Goku'd have to bust out a Toriyama original SSJ4, and Vegeta's pride would die again).
Maybe they'll make a wish with the Dragon Balls to help (but some horrific side effect makes Dende relent to the Old Kai's idea not to use them so extremely)?
Or, for the pure amusement of a select few, just as their losing, they wish for help...and Superman shows up, beating Bils. He is wished back to his world, after a fight with Goku (where Goku acknowledges, Vegeta-style, that Superman is #1). The internet might implode if that happened though (I'd laugh).
Of course, more seriously, Goku might just win Bils over to his side by being himself, and they bond over a shared love of food.
RIDER KIIIIIIICK!
