I would think that Super Saiyan Rosé was pretty clearly the Goku Black version of Super Saiyan Blue. It makes no sense to just assume that it wasn't meant to be or that it was meant to be Super Saiyan with no god ki or whatever.

I'm still amazed at how many people out there still think this is gonna be a full-on top from bottom total complete remake that will be a greatest hits of the movies, manga, anime and Toriyama's secret deepest never seen before script featuring Daima retcons from the GT series. With every episode being super duper ultra mega hyper sakuga at that too.

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
I always figured from the movies and then the old tv anime and the manga, that because Goku used his advanced Martial mastery of internal being while inhabiting a divine realm of being, ei (the ritual transmuting him into a divine being), when he was fighting Beerus in BOG, causing his internal being to instinctually, memorize that energy and power then replicate on its own, past the time limit of the ritual. which then enabled him to subconsciously then consciously manifest it to various degrees in his base and super Saiyan one forms enhancing their strength levels, as they were the most stable and mastered. eventually leading him to re-access that divine state of being in full potency, when neutralizing the giant destruction energy ball that was going to destroy the earth, then through whis’s divine energy training, he and Vegeta gained conscious control and mastery over these abilities, allowing them to merge it in full potency with super Saiyan 1 turning it blue, with Zamasu doing this having a rose coloration due to him being a naturally divine being. Toriyama confirmed and implied Much of this in an interview after the release of battle of gods in which he also said that super Saiyan God itself isn’t even a transformation, but a saiyan being shifted from a mortal to divine state of being with Goku being as strong as he was because of how powerful he already was as a mortal , and that Goku doesn’t need to enter the red Haired state to access its power, and that he would now focus on using his base and super Saiyan one forms in conjunction with that power as they were the most stable to be infused.

It's never stated in the show for some reason (or maybe even the manga? You did leave out that part. That's what the "[...]" does. I know what the full sentence says, I'm the one who reminded you of that. That's still an assumption made by the wiki fans so it's incorrect to claim it's a fact. It's your assumption that Rosé is "presented the same way" based on... the anime omitting the dialogue from Zamasu stating that it's SSB. You're welcome to think it's "that simple" for you, but your conclusion is based on an assumption. I really like the explanation of them later learning how to use it consciously. The Beyond God concept clearly already existing in 2013, but in a imperfect state as SSJ1 Goku doesn't notice that he no longer has the red appearance, and the regular golden form multiplier doesn't affect anything in God's power. The God-like Base form and Blue being the results of perfecting that state, leading to actual changes in appearance, power and multiplier, Blue is not just SSJ1 with God's multiplier. It's one of the reasons I say that God was never lost in the anime for example, it was ever stated.
I think the idea unfortunately only works with the two movies and the Beerus arc in the (old and maybe also in the new) anime though. As Beyond God, the engine of that concept, is ditched right after. Goku and Vegeta always need to transform in order to use god ki.
The manga at least managed to keep it consistent by having Goku use SSJG until the end of his fight with Beerus.
The anime does a "silent retcon".
The manga explicitly says that SSJR is a god (Black who's Zamasu in a mortal body) who surpassed the SSJGod, and that it becomes pink instead of blue for that reason.Scsigs wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 1:57 am It's never stated in the show for some reason (or maybe even the manga? It doesn't exactly say that it's Black's equivalent to Blue, but given Zamasu's line about it being above SSJGod and not being blue, and the way the manga treats Blue as it being a evolution to SSJG, it's pretty much clear that the manga paints it as Black's version of SSJB.
In my opinion the anime does the same thing, just lacking the more in deep explanation and under the different interpretation from the studio where it's just SSJ, but still matches the manga, with Black calling SSJB a form that a mortal uses god ki. Then Black, who already possess ki by nature, tries transforming.
What sets them apart in my view, is that the manga interprets Black as having to go through regular forms, with his god ki not giving him access to SSJG immediately, that's why we see him use golden SSJ1 first. The anime interprets his nature as a god already being enough for him to access SSJG from the start, that's why it skips his regular golden SSJ1. But I see as both being Black's SSJB in the end.
It's like what I said in one of my previous posts. SSJB in the anime is officially explained as being the SSJ state of a SSJGod. Replace SSJGod with Kaioshin God Zamasu, and you get SSJPink instead of Blue.
SSJG not being necessary for Zamasu because he's already a being with god ki.

Indeed. Which was the premise of this talk. We were talking about the "Saiyan Beyond God" plot point from BoG, and how a major theory about the FT saga is that Black's Base form is in this "Saiyan Beyond God" state, because he's naturally a God. This explains why his Base is so powerful and also why he doesn't turn yellow - he can't. His next "available form" is SSGSS because he's naturally in SSG state. Rosé thus functions like Blue (replacing Red with Black's Divine Base form), and is also Black's first available transformation after Base - making it a replacement of SSJ1.angeldreamZ004 wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 3:33 am It's like what I said in one of my previous posts. The point is that Toriyama's notes explicitly mention Black turning into Super Saiyan, yet Toei evidently missed this memo, which is why Remaster should rectify this by having Black turn SSJ1. They can then retcon the "Saiyan Beyond God" thing by giving Base Black's feats to SSJ1. It wouldn't even be a drastic change, because we're only talking about one sequence of events in episode 56 where Base Black is outplaying SSB Vegeta. Just change that scene so that Black first has to turn SSJ1, arguing that he learned to do that after his trip to the past in 50.
Most importantly, this will also give more visibility to Super Saiyan 1 Black, who right now is only in the manga, and hasn't been in any adaptation yet. Is he even in videogames? I don't think so, because he hasn't appeared in the anime yet. Back in 2016, the Anime preceded the Manga, so unfortunately some unique things that appeared in the Manga were absent from the Anime. This Remaster is the perfect opportunity to include small concepts and quirks from the Manga (not whole plot points like, say, UI Roshi vs. Jiren, just small things like SSJ1 Black or SSG Vegeta vs. Rosé), and finally make a more complete, "ultimate" version of Super that uses the Anime as groundwork while also including unique things from the Manga that enrich the story.

He explicitly says that he can turn into a Super Saiyan like Goku. That's the equivalent of SSGSS, which is Goku turning into a Super Saiyan after the events of BOG, since he has divine ki. Right, that's what I've argued from the start. The problem is that in the Manga Black does turn Super Saiyan 1, the golden form, and as long as this form doesn't appear in the anime, I won't be able to play it in videogames. I've dealt with it for 10 years, but since they ARE Remastering Super now, I think this is a wonderful opportunity to correct various (small) discrepancies between the Anime and Manga and also give more visibility to cool concepts Toyotaro came up with.Luso Saiyan wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:52 amHe explicitly says that he can turn into a Super Saiyan like Goku. They are already correcting this weird "Saiyan Beyond God" thing by having Goku go SSG against Golden Freezer, which aligns the early anime closer to the manga and also to the anime's own last saga, where Goku pulls out SSG in the ToP.

I guess they could do that, since it's clear that the original intent is secondary to merchandise marketability. My point was that the idea that Black can turn into the original Super Saiyan (yellow) is not something Toriyama specified. It's an interpretation of what he said.

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
What I meant in my post is that the full red haired god state still existed as goku used it to do neutralize the destruction, energy ball at the end of the movie, it just took control and mastery with that divine energy/power he didn’t consciously have yet, so for most of the fight with Beerus after the ritual wore off he just infused it into his base and ssj1 to enhanced them enough for the fight, even though they were imperfect manifestations as you would call it. That’s where the training with whis comes in, He gained that control the mastery there. where he and Vegeta learned to combine that power at full potency with SSJ1 so passing the limit of the full red haired God‘s state turning it blue as their divine power is artificial well Zamasu’s is natural turning his rose when colored when he does it. Post training freeza widely outclassed earth’s warriors especially piccolo and ssj2 gohan, but Goku after his training with whis said and demonstrated he didn’t need to transform against him at all because of these divine power/energy abilities I’ve described pay attention to the subtle changes in his order in his fight against post training freezer. It’s only until golden freeza comes out that he has to use SSJ one combined with the full potency of the full divine state turning it blue to fight golden freeza. Also in filler toei had black haired vegeta manhandle ssj3 fusion gotenks. These concepts and occurrences are not really mutually exclusive just varying degrees of same in fiction capabilities at least in Toriyama’s vision and view of the story which was established in the two movies, and is now being more closely reflected in the revised tv anime. ssjg isn’t really a super saiyan transformation it’s just named that for convenience this confusion among fans didn’t start until the now old super TV anime started airing. so whatever you think Bandai and Toyotaro have come up for merchandising with it doesn’t really supersede what I’ve given description to, as Dragon Ball is toriyama’s manga first and foremost not some mons series type thing like what Nihon advertising systems astroturfed another shueisha manga Yugioh/ king of games into through its latter fragmental second tv anime adaptation for example, and Dragon Ball, too established in mass media for that to really happen at this point.angeldreamZ004 wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 3:33 amI really like the explanation of them later learning how to use it consciously. You do realize that's the Kanzenshuu wiki, right? Yes, it is a fact that Super Saiyan Rosé is Goku Black's Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, regardless of the media. There is no assumption here. The "mirrored line" and presentation are there. Here is some new information from everyone's favorite Youtuber, Geekdom101:
Dragon Ball Super Beerus was produced as one continuing arc, rather than three separate ones; as a result of this, not only are the placement of certain scenes different, we're getting completely new scenes to make the transition from 3 arcs to 1 more seamless. An example Geekdom gave of this is Freeza's men and Champa being introduced far earlier than they were in Super 1.0. Another potential example (speculation by me) could be Goku and Vegeta going to train with Whis for the tournament, but end up having the deal with Freeza before it begins, which ties Resurrection F into Battle of Gods and Champa better than it originally was.
Another thing he mentioned is that there will be some unexpected surprises, but as usual, he's thinking about spoiling them like he did with most of Daima's surprises.
I really like this direction if it's true, as those three arcs didn't have much going on individually to really count as "arcs", but that notion completely changes when you think of the three of them as one story.

The first two "arcs" were meant to be movies, so it makes sense that they don't really feel like traditional story arcs. This should hopefully make the first three arcs of Super feel like one saga of discovery and exploration, beginning with one brother and ending with the other. The Dark Knight wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 3:13 pm Here is some new information from everyone's favorite Youtuber, Geekdom101:

Sadly, because Golden Freeza was made solely and exclusively for nostalgia bait (not because there's interesting new concepts to explore), the middle part of that saga will always feel like the third wheel. The story would flow much better if you went from BoG right to U6, but hopefully Champa's earlier inclusion will make the arc transitions less jarring.

If this is true, then that's neat. One of the things they could do with the power of hindsight now that the story is no longer being written as it goes along, though not a thing I really expected them to go for. I ultimately just hope it flows well. That is my single biggest concern here, even bigger than "Will the infamously terrible-looking episodes get fixed". (Which, I do expect the surviving footage from episodes like 5 and 24 to look better, though I'm hardly expecting to be blown away either.) The pacing was what killed One Piece Fishman Island Special Edited Edition for me, as scenes just did not flow coherently, with things regularly going from A to C while B just happens off-screen between cuts. One example people called out right in the first episode being Fake Nami going from antagonizing Nami on the other side of the room, to being right up in Nami's face in the very next shot while talking the whole time. Another example was during the crew's journey through the deep sea there was a shot where Brook gets back up from lying on the ground being all comically dejected... but the scene where he got comically dejected was cut so there was no apparent reason for him to be gloomy. If they weren't going to keep the gag that leads to him falling to the floor they should have just not used the shot where he gets back up either. The Dark Knight wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 3:13 pm Here is some new information from everyone's favorite Youtuber, Geekdom101:

...As long as the art is consistently respectable-looking and scenes flow naturally without any awkward cuts, I'll be content. Any story tweaks beyond that would be just a bonus, and let's be real: There is no way anything major gets altered.
...But please. For the love of Dende. Acknowledge why Pilaf & Co. are kids in some way. I think asking that they implement them into the Beerus arc better (like, idk, how they were in Battle of Gods the movie?) is asking too much of this project, and there is no way they get cut entirely since they seem to have been an element Toriyama genuinely felt strongly about wanting, but... a single line of dialogue explaining that Pilaf asked the Dragon Balls to be made young again and Shenlong massively overshot would be easy to implement and absolutely should be there. The movie did it. The manga also did it. The show is the only version that neglects to explain it in any way.

Re: The TV Anime Series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be broadcast on Fuji TV in the fall of 2026
Which is also why I believe the Beerus arc in the anime had Beyond God, the arc was finished before they could see what was being done in the manga, so they had no way to see that the Manga would not adopt that concept. It's where the incosistence enters, because they later ditched the concept as the anime progressed in order to match it with the manga, where the rule is Goku and Vegeta not being able to use god ki outside of the god transformations.
What the translation actually says is “Becomes a SSJ like Goku, and a SSJ of a color slightly different from Goku's.”
The implication that the correct interpretation is giving him SSJ1 and Rosé coming from this, unless it's indeed referring to the same single form with the extra descripton of a different hair color. But in this context I don't think “and a” can be interpreted as “which is a”, it doesn't specificy the first is yellow, but it says it's like Goku, and then says a SSJ that is different.
But then what about the Beerus arc? I really don't agree that they are correcting it, what they are doing is what they already did with the ToP in the old anime, but this time it's earlier. SSJ1 Goku with SSJG power absorbed when fighting Beerus is where Beyond God is introduced, as back then in the 2013 movie, it's said that Goku wouldn't need to use SSJG anymore, but he uses it to destroy Beerus’ hakaidama, which is not seen in the anime and is what led to many believe that there would no longer be SSJG in the anime anymore. And the anime didn't even have Base form Goku doing to Final Form Freeza what he did in the 2015 movie, which seems to be repeating in the remake.
So correcting it for the Freeza arc but keep the inconsistence with the Beerus arc? I don't get that decision.
So correcting it in my view would be having SSJG until the end of the fight with Beerus, it would make this new anime in full sync with the manga which is where Beyond God never existed. So I hope they prepared a good explanation for it.
I mistakenly wrote “ever state” instead of "never stated” in my post, was referring to the people who thought that Goku might have lost access to the red god form in the anime prior to the ToP.
In neither versions of the story (movie / promotional manga / anime) he tells Freeza that he doesn't need to transform because of god ki, he gives no explanation (maybe what you meant is that it's you explaining it, but the lack of commas makes it look like you wrote that Goku was the one who said it)Spoiler:
In the movie Goku outmatches Final Form Freeza, but not in the anime, with my theory being that in the movie he's stronger than him thanks to the god ki (Beyond God).
In the anime however he has only gotten stronger in his base form, and lacks god ki when fighting FF Freeza, that's why he couldn't even surpass him like he did in the movie and the promotional manga (which explores his base form being equal to SSJG). His base form in the anime is equal to FF Freeza.
The explanation in-universe, at least in my view, being through visuals.
The Beyond God state in the movie is represented with a special aura with density and yellowish glow, Goku has it throughout the entire fight while clearly showing to be superior to FF Freeza before SSJB and Golden Freeza moment.

Spoiler:
Then the anime had a normal Base Goku fighting Freeza, then SSJG returning in the ToP.
I see this moment as being simply an example of Goku and Vegeta becoming stronger in their base forms, without any god ki at all, to the point where Normal Base Vegeta is enough to beat SSJ3 Gotenks, who we know hasn't gotten any stronger since the Boo arc (maybe he even got weaker)Spoiler:
In the manga, where the Beyond God concept is clearly nonexistent, we do see that, as SSJ1 Vegeta is stronger than SSJ1 Goku black for a moment, the same who in base form, outmatched SSJ2 Mirai Trunks, who forced Goku to use SSJ3 when training.
All that said, I know that what you were trying to say is that both concepts of transformations and using the god ki coexist, especially if we go by the movies, where Goku is seen using God Ki in his base and SSJ forms, then combining it to full extent with SSJ to create SSJB, then still having access to SSJG transformation as shown when he destroys Beerus’ Hakaidama, and all of it originating from Toriyama creation.
But what I'm trying to do is more of a analysis of how these ideas were worked through time. I think what you said does work for the two movies and the Beerus arc in the anime only. The anime didn't proceed with it, and the manga never used it, as it was clearly always about having to transform in order to use god ki, that's why Goku uses SSJG until the end of his fight against Beerus, and using God Ki outside of transformation is never mentioned again. The two ultimately erase one of the concepts Toriyama created. And he may have been involved in those decisions, we'll never know.
Me too, I have the feeling that at least Beyond God might remain as a plot hole.MCDaveG wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 1:35 pm I’ll just say this! If they don’t resolve plotholes or missing bits like Pilaf gang being kids again, I am done with it![]()
I think it's pretty much already confirmed given how it's all called Beerus and a "reconstructed narrative".
Champa and Vados showing up earlier? I would not be surprised, as they would be repeating what the manga already did.
The two appear for the first time in the Beerus arc, and despite the manga lacking the Golden Freeza arc, the Beerus arc ends with Champa destroying a spaceship with Freeza soldiers who were looking for the Super Dragon Balls. That situation being what convinces Sorbet to revive Freeza.
So I don't doubt the remake will be doing the same thing.
The old anime already had Champa and Vados showing up in the Golden Freeza arc.

Resurrection F got an extended cut that aired exclusively on TV in Japan; it featured new footage of Trunks narrating Goku's fight with Freeza, before having to escape from an "unknown" creature hunting him down. Scenes like that can go a long way in better connecting Resurrection F to the larger Super narrative, which is what I think they plan on doing. If they keep Trunks' narration and add a scene of two of Champa, I think that would be more than enough to tie it into what's going on, rather than having it feel like filler in a larger story.SupremeKai25 wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:34 pmSadly, because Golden Freeza was made solely and exclusively for nostalgia bait (not because there's interesting new concepts to explore), the middle part of that saga will always feel like the third wheel.

At least bringing him back for the Tournament of Power retroactively made that nostalgia bait movie\arc make a bit more sense in the context of Super's narrativeSupremeKai25 wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:34 pmSadly, because Golden Freeza was made solely and exclusively for nostalgia bait (not because there's interesting new concepts to explore), the middle part of that saga will always feel like the third wheel.
