Well, it looks a little fuzzier, but still much better than the version they gave to Funi.
On hiatus.

Eh, bad application is sharpening filters (why do people keep doing this?), and some problems with the saturation but otherwise it's alright I suppose. Problem is, since the comparision images are JPEG, the whole comparision is rendered null since that's a lossy format >_>;;

Jpeg can be saved losslessly, as this comparrison appears to be.

So... are you guys saying that the comparison pics just make it seem like the Spain video was better claned up than the JP video? Because that's what it looks like to me. Then again, I've seen other DragonBox images and notcied how disgustingly clear their remasters were.

:sigh:, This leads me to another question: Does this mean that the Spain remasters aren't from Toei, since Toei evidently has their own separate remasters?

Perhaps the master tapes that were provided to Spanish distributors by Toei, were of the same "grainy-as-cereal" shit-quality as the ones that were (most likely, intentionally) given to FUNimation. And by saying that the Spain DVD release of the DBZ episodes were used from the "new masters", maybe they meant that it was the same lame-ass Toei master tapes that were re-mastered by the Selecta Vision themselves. Well, it seems like Selecta Vision has done something for the fans in Spain, what FUNimation never had or ever will do for us the fans, who live right in here in U.S. And even though I don't even live in Spain, I still laud Selecta Vision for their efforts to make sure that the Spanish fans can enjoy their favorite show in best format possible.

No, not really. The very nature of jpeg is not unlike mp3. You can save it as a level 12/100% quality (or 320kps for mp3) and have little perceived loss, but it still doesn't have all the data that the original had. Plus, these jpegs are pretty small (30-50kb), and therefore I can say with certainty they aren't even close to lossless.

Moreover, interesting as it is, they weren't even saved the same way. The Spanish screencaps are consistantly 10kb larger than the Japanese, so...yeah. Shitty comparison all around.

When will people learn that English subs are a rarity for DVDs outside of English speaking countries? :\

Hey, I appriciate your efforts, but, I had already posted those links.

What I'd be more interested in, would be a throughful review of some of the dvds.
That would be very interesting, especially if someone could make one in English.
