I'm not sure...) so I'm not quite sure which one did the songs, being that the subtitles for those are the same on all the DVDs.
That would be Daimao. Tomato didn't come on board as translator until a couple episodes down the line, at which point the OP and ED had of course been translated.

So, were they just putting in random Japanese to look "more uncut" or do those bits of text actually mean something in good ol' Nihongo(Japanese)?[/url]
Just random kana with no meaning at all.

lol As if FUNimation knows Japanese.

I don't think that the subs NEED swearing. Not "darn" or "heck", but they do have "damn" and "hell" in the subs. They even have "bastard", and "jackass". I just remember before the Frieza Saga was completed in the US, I was reading a summary and it said that Goku yells "Shit!" when the planet explodes, and when I got the Frieza DVDs, imagine my surprise where he just says "Damn it all!" or something along those lines.

It's kinda insulting.

Not to mention lazy. But that pretty much defines FUNi's attitude towards Dragon Ball lately.

Of course it all means something! Random gibberish my ass. Clearly:

"yufuyanohechiyana yuhoteyuya mominatenochifu natonoyanomaho" = "ultimate uncut special edition"

"naritefuyumonoyona numahiyu chiteyanomaho ninonuyumena" = "Exclusive Goku Action Figure"

"yanena rachiru noya rachimo henachihoya yama tsuna monanaho" = "the way it was meant to be seen"

LMAO oh man that's great, I wonder what they tried to do with that. Did they know they were making no sense?

He says "chikushou", as far as I remember - "shit" is a viable translation (though "damn it all" works better in this particular instance, yeah).

Never saw the anime of it, but the manga said, "It's gonna explode. I can't stop it!"

One part where I really dislike the manga. I prefer Goku just screaming, like in Budokai 1.

Not to necro-bump or anything, but my little brother is watching DBZ subtitled on his own. It appears I'm rubbing off on him.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
