Karasawa Kazuya's storyboard for World Trigger Episode #15 has some lovely layouts and action choreography. I hope he did some storyboarding for Fukkatsu no F.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
That hardly changes anything, though. He either overpowers Radditz because he is stronger than him or because Radditz has no body and so he can't resist. There's only those two possibilities. And in context with what is present later on the series, we know that Enma would overpower Radditz even if he is not stronger than him because he has no body.FatNagger69 wrote:This claim is only made in Viz's translation.rereboy wrote:He says that no one can defeat him ... even if they struggle, they can't resist Enma because they have no bodies and Enma has the power to judge them.Regarder wrote:Enma Daio overpowers Raditz, so it might be more complicated than that.
The original claim made is that he overpowered Raditz.
It's a well-known contradiction, as is the next-in-line that follows.

I love that picture do you own the full color Japanese manga?KentalSSJ6 wrote:It's 5 years in the English dub. In the manga the chapter where they met up is titled 10 Years Later.FortuneSSJ wrote:Well maybe Toriyama forgot Bra exists...
But seriously, if he wants to keep doing movies is about time to review his own series. He doesn't need to read everything just the basic stuff to make the plot work.
In BOG, Kaio having his planet back and Gohan turning ssj are both acceptable to me, because both are possible things.
But characters like Goten, Trunks and Marron remain the same for 5 years is not.
Timeline wise, Goku said to Bulma in EOZ that they didn't meet eatch other for 5 years (so BOG fits here perfectly)
Now in the new movie that takes place 3 years after supposedly, if they meet each other will be just another error.
Add this to characters not getting older and Bra absence, and the list just gets bigger unnecessary.

Correction. Krillin was either 19-21 when he grew. Though Gohan grew perfectly normal. Unless Gohan got Ox King genes while Goten got Goku's and Chi Chi.
With Trunks. Let's be honest. Vegeta isn't the tallest vegetable in the bunch.

I did say he was a midget till he was at least 16. He was born in 736 and he is still a shrimp when we last see him as a kid for the end of Piccolo Daimao in 753, but his birthday is after May (when the Piccolo events happen) which gives us 16. Sometime in the next 3 years, he does manage to grow, but we don't know when specifically. Could have still been 16, 17, 18 or 19.TheGmGoken wrote:Correction. Krillin was either 19-21 when he grew.

If you want to be nitpicky about it, yes, dub!Bulma says "five years" but that is all she says, and the dub could be implying they met up only once before the tournament, but after Buu.KentalSSJ6 wrote:It's 5 years in the English dub. I know defending the dub is kuh-ray-zee-uh, but I don't really find that to be a huge change/discretion, unless I'm forgetting something else, where they definitively say "five years later," in which case, of course that is wrong.

Not to bring it back up too much, but on the Dai Kaio for Dai Kaioshin in the dub thing - it's been far too long since I watched those episodes (in dubbed format no less), but I'm pretty sure they just called him Dai Kaio, no 'Grand Supreme Kai' even though that would fit with their naming scheme. Maybe it was a matter of flaps? 'Grand Kaio' is only four syllables, 'Grand Kaio-shin' is five, which leaves them a whole other possible flap to work with in the rest of the sentence - 'Grand Supreme Kai' however would have been six syallables, which is one less flap possibly to work with. Just an (un)educated guess.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
In the Japanese version as well, Bulma says that the gang all met up five years ago, but she hasn't seen Goku since then. She's mad at him for always being too busy training to stop by, while Goku is all "hey, we saw each other five years ago, right?" So yeah, there was definitely some big meet-up midway between Boo's defeat and the end of the manga. Is that the line you're talking about, or is there some extra line the dub adds in?B wrote:If you want to be nitpicky about it, yes, dub!Bulma says "five years" but that is all she says, and the dub could be implying they met up only once before the tournament, but after Buu.KentalSSJ6 wrote:It's 5 years in the English dub. (This line has caused trouble in the past, because Simmons' subtitles on the old DBZ singles go with the interpretation that Goku wasn't even present at the get-together five years back, which was also how I interpreted it for my old timeline threads. But Viz goes with Goku having met Bulma and the gang back then but not seeing them since then, and the dialogue makes much more sense that way. Julian has commented on this issue in the past; in fact, I think earlier in this thread. I don't know if the subtitles for later Funi releases ever fix this.)

If I remember, "Dai Kaio" is only mentioned in Kaioshin's flashback, which is narrated by him and we never see him while he speaks, so it wouldn't be a lip flap issue. It's most likely just another strange decision by the dub of the time.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Not to bring it back up too much, but on the Dai Kaio for Dai Kaioshin in the dub thing - it's been far too long since I watched those episodes (in dubbed format no less), but I'm pretty sure they just called him Dai Kaio, no 'Grand Supreme Kai' even though that would fit with their naming scheme. Oh man, you're right! I completely forgot how that scene was set up, but you're right, it's pretty much all off-screen narration. And even the one moment where the flashback Kaioshin says Dai Kaio's name, he's turned where we don't see his mouth, and there's more then enough room to fit in 'Grand Supreme Kai'. Weird.
Anyway, sorry for the off topic bit, just wanted to follow up on that, and it didn't seem like something that merited it's own thread. Back on topic, I hope we start getting some more news again soon, this waiting is excruciating. I think the wait with BOG news was worse though, at least for me.

That stone Sorbet is picking up.. I do like the joke theories, that it's an evolution stone.. Ever since I read that Freeza refers to his new form as evolution(shinka) rather than the usual transformation(henshin), I've been imagining Freeza mimicking another popular Toei anime(that is getting a sequel to its first series this year):
FREEZA-SAMA. SHINKAAAAA!!!
I also like the idea, that it might be a Freeza fossil and that's how they revive him along with that green slime.
Can't wait to find out.

With BOG we had those leaked tie-in figures with overly cheerful Vegeta and Piccolo-green Pilaf. The wait for F is way harder for me because there's not even that. @_@
I still know barely anything about what's going on with Gokû and Vegeta and it's amazingly frustrating.

I've been further? I might be reading wrong, I don't understand. ^^;
So ready for next month though; even if things do get busier in rl, still going to do my best to check in on this thread when I can--I really really wanna know what's up with those two. *_*
Also sparkles.
Oh Toei. :3
Seriously though; really enjoyed the battle in the final HaCha ep; Lovely knocking those blasts away moving only her arm to do so while standing there with a smile on her face was great. X3

I see, I see.. yes that makes sense.. but does it explain how Freeza gets a chance to train?Herms wrote:Arr~~~~gghhh...I completely forgot about that. As part of that explanation, Piccolo says Vegeta will go to a "different place" than Goku after he dies, where all that soul-cleaning/memory-wiping will occur before he's reincarnated. He doesn't use the name "Hell", but presumably that's what he's talking about, since that's pretty much how Buddhist Hell works. It's not eternal like the standard Christian depiction of Hell, but rather people are just punished long enough to be purified and reincarnated (though there is supposed to be a special Eternal Hell for super bad people). So it's a typical element of the afterlife in the surrounding culture that Toriyama naturally threw into DB, along with Enma Daio and the oni (and Hell's lake of blood and mountain of needles repeatedly shown in the anime). Anyway, while Hell isn't named during Piccolo's chat with Vegeta, that guide oni that escorts Goku to the Serpent Road does explain that Hell is right underneath the road, and in the Boo arc Goku tells Babidi that he'll ask Enma to make sure Babidi has it extra tough when he goes to Hell. So it's explicitly mentioned as a thing a few times in the manga. Also worth noting that in Viz's early DBZ volumes they often translate anoyo/afterlife as "Hell" in places it doesn't quite fit (repeatedly describing Goku as "training in Hell" rather than "training in the afterlife" like in the original), apparently just to flaunt their ability to use the actual word "Hell", which the Funi dub at the time notoriously had to dance around with HFIL.JamesOwnz wrote:See that's where I'm confused...
When Vegeta is about to die vs Buu Piccolo tells him he won't see Goku in the after life and that his soul will simply be cleaned and born again into someone else and all of his memories will be gone. It's true that the obvious intent of that whole bit is to hype up Enma as super strong by showing that he could take down Raditz (the strongest character Goku had ever fought at that point), but I suppose that strictly speaking Enma could have just subdued Raditz's bodiless spirit. Enma might not go out of his way to explain "oh, Raditz was just a powerless spirit by then, so me stopping him was no big deal", but he's also pretty matter-of-fact about the whole thing, and doesn't really brag about it like he does in Viz. So I think the scene avoids being explicitly contradictory, just barely.FatNagger69 wrote:The original claim made is that he overpowered Raditz.
It's a well-known contradiction, as is the next-in-line that follows.
暴れた 暴れた 暴れたおったがこのわしがとりおさえてやったわい
Of course, since Enma crossed the Serpent Road and trained under Kaio, he probably would be strong enough to beat the living Raditz easily enough (as long as there aren't any full moons in the afterlife). It might not be a coincidence that it's not until Cell dies that it's flat-out explained that "bad guys like Cell" don't keep their bodies after they die. Enma's said to be weaker than Kaio, so he should be outclassed by all the bad guys from Nappa on up, but he also drops out of the story after that initial scene when Goku first dies (apart from appearance when Goku returns from Kaio's). So you can kind of ignore the issue of what happens to all those super-strong dead bad guys. Near the end of the Cell Games though, Kaio realizes that Cell must still be alive because he's not on his way to Enma's, where all the dead must go for judgment. Which directly brings up the question of how Enma's supposed to deal with a dead Cell, hence Goku's comment during his big farewell speech that "bad guys like Cell" don't have bodies in the afterlife.

Guys I know how Goku can beat Freeza in the new movie!
3 words: Instant Transmission Kamehameha.
Freeza unlike Cell and Buu and a lot of other BS enemies does NOT have regeneration.
Since being dead from their last fight Freeza would have no knowledge of Goku possessing the Instant Transmission technique.
In my mind it would play out exactly how it was with Cell: Goku seems desperate and Freeza is acting all cocky. Goku then flies up into the sky and prepares his Kamehameha. Freeza doubts that Goku will go through with it since it will destroy the planet. Goku however puts all his energy into it and makes his move with his Instant Transmission catching Freeza off guard like just like with Cell and completely destroys him.
And with Freeza not having any regeneration abilities he is finished.
