Bulma's wealth and fame
It is revealed that the Briefs family is one of the most famous and richest in the world, so I am wondering....how rich was Bulma (or the whole Briefs family)? How famous was she? Did she have "servants"?
I am especially wondering this information in regards to the Majin Buu Arc.

I think Bulma might be fairly well known. The policeman knew who she was whenever Goku went looking for her during his first visit to West City, though this is also the only evidence hinting at her being famous, if I remember correctly.
I don't think Bulma has her own source of income. She just lives at Capsule Corporation forever and mooches off her parents.

There are robot servents when Goku visits Capsule Corp in the Red Ribbon Army arc.
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?

Dr. Gero also seems to know who she is.Dr. Casey wrote:I think Bulma might be fairly well known. The policeman knew who she was whenever Goku went looking for her during his first visit to West City, though this is also the only evidence hinting at her being famous, if I remember correctly.

They must be quite famous, Remember kidnappers tried to take Goku as they thought he was a relative of Bulma's.
I always guessed she was a heiress similar to Paris Hilton in that respect. Her father built the empire and she just slots in and gives a hand every now and then. (Just as Trunks does in GT.)

Well, I don't know about other countries, but in England in established (richer) families sometimes the parents will move into a smaller house somewhere else on the premises (or a wing of the same house) to let the child take over and run the place while the parents are still alive but 'retired' (although the parents would still technically OWN the whole place...) So perhaps that's the case with Bulma? As for Kuririn, I think he's just pretty much a moocher. That said, why didn't 18 use some of her Satan-threatening money to buy a mansion? She seems like the type who would, somehow...
Bulma works at Capsule Corp. when she gets older, she doesn't just mooch, IIRC.Super 17 wrote:What is up with Bulma and Kuririn living with someone else, when they should move out and raise their children by themselves, like Chichi did. Bulma has always lived with her parents forever and Kuririn has always lived with Roshi ever since he came to train as a kid.
I guess Kuririn COULD'VE left, but he doesn't really have anywhere to go. His village treated him like shit.

You would think with that ridiculous amount of money, Bulma would have thrown Chi-Chi a bone, but no. Poor woman has lived in the same house for the last twenty years in the middle of nowhere and to make matters worse, her treasure is running out.

I think Chichi likes where she lives. And she probably isn't the type to take hand-outs.Satan-Sama wrote:You would think with that ridiculous amount of money, Bulma would have thrown Chi-Chi a bone, but no. I'd say she is, woman hasn't worked a day in her life. The only money source of income she has ever had in her life came from her father and her husband's reward.Bussani wrote:And she probably isn't the type to take hand-outs.Satan-Sama wrote:You would think with that ridiculous amount of money, Bulma would have thrown Chi-Chi a bone, but no. Let me rephrase it; she doesn't seem like the type to take hand-outs from friends (people outside of the family).Satan-Sama wrote:I'd say she is, woman hasn't worked a day in her life. Inherited money and money your husband earned aren't the same as someone saying, "Hey, you guys sure are poor losers. Have some pity money."

Agreed. It's all Goku's money, but any money Goku earns belongs to her, being the typical shrew.Bussani wrote:Let me rephrase it; she doesn't seem like the type to take hand-outs from friends (people outside of the family).Satan-Sama wrote:I'd say she is, woman hasn't worked a day in her life. In other words, money inherited by her father while he's still alive implies a dowery. (Though she may have been given help after Goku died.)

You know, I've always thought that as well; Also when Goku visits Oob's village and sees how poor it is, I remember him saying he knows somebody rich (Referring to Hercule) surely Bulma would have the funds to help the poor village peasants?Satan-Sama wrote:You would think with that ridiculous amount of money, Bulma would have thrown Chi-Chi a bone, but no. I guess perhaps Chichi did not want to seem like a charity case and not able to bring up her children without help from others. They tend to live off the land a lot, (Catching food, Growing Vegetables, Log fire, Bath in garden.) I doubt they have much in the way of bills living out in the middle of nowhere. I do however recall her urging Goten to win the tournament so they have some money.

I don't think they are poor because the Ox-King was seemingly fairly wealthy, and also Goku won a huge prize at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai.saiyanprincess wrote:You know, I've always thought that as well; Also when Goku visits Oob's village and sees how poor it is, I remember him saying he knows somebody rich (Referring to Mr. Satan) surely Bulma would have the funds to help the poor village peasants?Satan-Sama wrote:You would think with that ridiculous amount of money, Bulma would have thrown Chi-Chi a bone, but no. I feel the same way. I don't understand why she just didn't tell Goku to rob a bank or something, I mean what the Hell, the guy could destroy worlds in a millisecond.Satan-Sama wrote:You would think with that ridiculous amount of money, Bulma would have thrown Chi-Chi a bone, but no. The Son house looked like a place worth living at the end of the series when it became a fourth of the size of Capsule Corp., not that I wouldn't want to live in it before it got all fancy since it was a homey place before.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

Guys, they didn't really need the money. They have that average sized house, and the Son family wasn't exactly Scrooge-tastic. They were content with what they had. Plus, Neither Goku nor Chi-Chi grew up in overpopulated areas, IIRC. The borderline hermit lifestyle in the woods was familiar to them.
