Age guide

[Herms]

The thread over the Saiyan characters' ages over in the questions forum gave me the idea to put this together. Basically I just took every character with an established birth year (taken from Daizenshuu 7 or the Super Exciting Guide), plus the characters with some vague statement about how old they are (from the series or Daizenshuu 7), and used the DB calendar to make a list of how old they all are at any given point in the series. I also did some pre-DB times, and tried to work out Trunks' timeline.

About Trunks' timeline. We know he's born in Age 766, and when he first arrives in the past he says he's 17, meaning he must have comes from Age 783. But later, when Trunks finds Cell's time machine, he sees that the time machine came from Age 788 and says that this is three years in the future from when he came, meaning he came from Age 785. So apparently 2 years passed for Trunks between his first and second visit to the past. I guess.

Videl has two different birth years in Daizenshuu 7 and the SEG. In 7 her birth year is given as 756, while in SEG it is 757 (same as Gohan). So I listed her with the ages she'd be using both birth years. Similiary, Bra is listed in the Daizenshuu 7 and GT Perfect Files timeline as being born in Age 780, while in her actual Daizenshuu 7 bio it says she was born in Age 778, so I listed her age using both years.

For the Evil Dragons in GT, I took their ages from when the wish that created them was made. But Si Xing Long calls San Xing Long his older brother, while going by this Si Xing Long is older, so I guess they don't reckon age this way. Still, I thought it was kind of interesting to see how long ago each of their wishes were, so I left that in.

Later I'll make a post listing all these birth years that I used to make this.

Yeah...I also never realized before making this that Goku spending a year in the Room of Spirit and Time effectively cancels out him spending a year dead on Kaio's planet.

Though I should point out there's only about 10 months between Raditz and Vegeta's arrivals, and the only reason Trunks's arrival is 2 years later than the battle with Freeza is because the Freeza stuff is at the very end of Age 762, in later December, meaning it's really like only one year or so later when Trunks shows up. So depending on when in the year people were born, their age wouldn't quite match up with my chart. But of course, we have no idea when in the year anyone was born (except maybe Gohan and Goten), so I figured I might as well count people a year up with each new year (which is the Japanese way anyway).

I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the original. Goku being physically 12 or so in GT is based on the fact that Pilaf wished Goku was as small as when they first fought (I think that's what he said), and Goku was 12 when he first encounted Pilaf.

They're not given any official birth years, so there's really no saying. No.18's Daizenshuu 7 bio says she doesn't age, and the two certainly look identical to their present selves in Trunks' future.

Majin Buu, East Kaioshin, Kibito, Babidi: According to Daizenshuu 7, Buu was created about 5 million years ago, so that’s how old he is. East Kaioshin, Kibito, and Babidi were all around back then, so they’re even older.

Sea Turtle: According to the Garlic Jr. filler arc he’s a thousand years old in Age 763, so he’d be born in 237 Before Age.
Mummy-kun: 50 Before Age (Daiz 7)
Karin: He tells Goku that he’s about 800 when they first meet.

Just to play devil's advocate, though, it's still possible for the Daizenshuu's Ages for Trunks to work. The Daizenshuu says it takes 8 months to recharge the time machine. That means the earliest he could leave would be May 784 (May + 8 months = 785). If Trunks were born in late 766 (let's say December, for kicks), but went first went back in time in mid-784, then both the 8 month rule and the 17-years-old comments end up being valid.
