Choshinsui - Ultimate Water Of The Gods

Post by Piccolo Daimao » Wed May 20, 2009 12:46 pm

Is "Choshinsui" the Japanese name for the ultimate water of the gods that Son Goku drinks from? And if so, what does "Choshinsui" translate into in English?

Well when Goku drinks the water in his first trip up Korin Tower, the water is translated into "Holy water". I have not gotten to Goku getting the water when he meets Kami and Popo (with Yajirobe), but I'm almost there (I finished episode 111). But I'm pretty sure that "choshinsui" has an English translation like "holy water" did.

The water that Goku drinks the first time he climbs Karin Tower is the chou-seisui, which translates to "Super Holy Water" (chou="super", sei="holy", sui="water"). It's really only ordinary water, but the task of climbing the extremely high tower, then actually grabbing the water from Karin with only the very thin air up there to breath serves as training that increases your power many times over.

The water that Goku drinks the second time is the chou-shinsui, the "Super God Water" (shin="god"; it's one way of reading the kanji for kami). This is actually a powerful poison that draws out all your dormant power, but only if your body can manage to overcome the poison. Otherwise you die.

What was the water that Mr. Popo and Kaiôshin used to in GT to rid the world of the seeds of Bebi that was in everyone?
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

I think that was the same water used to fight the Black Water Mist, in English that was also called the same as what Korin gave to Goku the first time, Sacred/Holy Water, which is what Herms called "Super Holy Water"

The water from the Garlic Jr. filler and GT was also called chou-shinsui/Super God Water. I think the Funi DVD subtitles might have called it "Super Holy Water" though (presumably simply as an alterate translation of chou-shinsui since being of the gods and being holy are similiar) .
