Episode #0177! VegettoEX and Meri review the "Dragon Soul" CD single, along with talking about the most recent "Kai" episodes. Bizarre video game games and corporate restructuring, June's releases, your great e-mails, and our "Super Exciting" contest round out the episode (along with tons of great tunes)! Referenced sites:
Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to godofchaos for hosting the silly *one-hundred-seventy-seven* episodes, now.

I'm so tired...

The name for the book wrap you’re thinking of is “obi wrap”.

The odd thing about the Viz translation is that at the beginning (both for DB and DBZ), they take a lot of liberties with lines (though still not anywhere nearly as bad as with Funi), but they don’t censor anything. Then it switches around, so that with the later volumes you have more images edits and stuff like “Hercule”, but on the whole the actual translation of most lines becomes closer to the original (with the exception of Piccolo’s Ren-fair reject dialect returning somewhat during the 23rd TB and Boo arcs for some reason).

That Infogames song is totally stuck in my head now :P I can't believe something like that actually exists.

As for the Saban edits...I have to say, I disagree with the YouTube video complaining about the blood edits because they were absolutely necessary to get the show on American TV in 1997. There was really nothing FUNi could have done.

OK, now that I got a couple hours of sleep and remember what's going on, here are the two images I forgot to post up:

Oh, sweet poster! :D

Great episode all around! However, I must note, that the phrase "Unicorn" came back in an email! And speaking of emails....

I've been read on the podcast 4 times now! :D

And oh my gosh, Infogrames' theme song is hilarious!

That Freeza statue looks like some evil version of an Oscar.

Oh yeah, something that's been bugging me: I've seen it mentioned a few times (and again in this episode) that in DBZ Abridged, you can hear Bojack yelling from inside Kaio's planet. Nitpicker that I am, I have to point out that in DBZ movie 9, Kaio explains that Bojack was sealed away by the four Kaio in "a planet at the edge of the galaxy", not inside Kaio's planet (and I've got my recently purchased DBZ movie 9 anime comic to back me up).

Are you serious!? I thought this whole time, he was sealed inside the Kaio planet (Willie hasn't seen movie 9....). I guess that kinda destroys that joke.

King Kai's planet IS at the very far end of the galaxy.

Waaaaaaaay over by the North galaxy, to be precise. And a bit above it.

You mean you're not supposed to tell little kids that? I guess that's why I don't get invited to any Christmas parties anymore.

Um, so the podcast: I think I pretty much agree with Mike and Meri and Kai episode 9. Something about the editing just felt off.

I think the Funimation dub says that he is actually sealed in Kaio's planet. Although, I could just be trying to justify a good joke by tricking myself into believing made-up shiz.
