Post by jackrs113 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 4:58 pm

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and was hoping someone here can help me out. I'm trying to find music from the original dragon ball amine (specifically the music from the red ribbon army arc). i know it is from way back in the 80's but figured it was worth a shot. thanks for the help.

On CD? Well, you can find out what all is on what from this awesome guide (well sorta, I swear there used to be Notes that listed what part of the series each piece is from), but for that specific "genre" of music your best bet would be the Dragon Ball Z BGM Collection 3-disc set [CD Japan] [Play-Asia] [Amazon Japan]. If you can find the 5-disc Dragon Ball Daizenshuu set, that would have the same stuff, but more from other parts of the series, so nab that up if you get the chance.

As for unreleased pieces from that era, well, there are projects in the works, and hope on the horizon.

Welcome to the message board!! :D

I'm not sure what country you're from, but please remember that you are expected to type properly on this forum (as per the rules you agreed to before you registered).

I'm having an incredibly difficult time understand what you're even asking us in this post.

As am I. I'm assuming he's talking about the English dub, which retains the japanese score,

My apologies, I shall elaborate there is (to my knowledge) Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. I'm trying to find a soundtrack for Dragon Ball. most of the music i have heard from the show has no lyrics and i have no idea the title of said music. so the links SSj_Rambo provided don't help very much. if someone knows the titles of the music that is used that would be helpful. as i stated previously the specific music i am looking for is from the Red Ribbon Army arc of Dragon Ball; although the whole soundtrack would be great. I hope this helps clarify any problems.

Well, I'm assuming you want music from the original Japanese soundtrack. Though, from what I understand, the English dub used that music as well.

SSj_Rambo was actually right, if you would have looked at the page a little closer. I know he didn't spell it out for you, but it's there. On the page, there's a listing for the 5 disc Daizenshuu CD set, which contains music from DragonBall. However, that set is out of print. But you can pick up the re-issue of the "DragonBall - Complete Song Collection". It contains some, but not all, of the Red Ribbon Army arc music.

Here's a list of titles for some of the music you're looking for: The song titled "The Red Ribbon" contains the main theme for the Red Ribbon Army, which should sound very familiar to most fans.

The problem with that (knowing the exact titles) is that in the CD releases that actually provide track titles, they tend to mesh several pieces from the series (which usually run about only 40 seconds in length) into a single track, which is then given a title that gives you a general idea about the theme of the music in that track. kenisu3000 here is working on a complete documentation of all of the music in all three series, and he gives fan-names to each individual track, which gives us somewhat of a set standard in track titles.

And there isn't any CD soundtrack that covers solely the Red Ribbon Arc. Sorry.

Are you talking about the background music, or are you talking about the insert songs that have vocals? In FUNimation's English dub, they sometimes removed the vocals from the insert songsr or they had the narrator talking over them, or sometimes they removed them entirely.

Was this intentional or did something superbly ironic just occur?
